Because it's normal to listen to a wide range of genre in our radio I never really realized how lucky we are out here. Music is timeless in the Philippines, you can hear several generations in an hour and there are even designated days for throwbacks. I think this is why even though I'm more of a pop listener I still listen to classical/R&B/alt rock etc. Music is just a big part of our lives, there's always a soundtrack to every moment we can relate to with OPM.
When you do karaoke with the family, everybody gets into it. You hear your mom and dad and grandma and tita and tito and kuya and ate. You hear all their go to songs. And so you are exposed to many genres in different generations.

But since RUclips does auto mixes, I got to discover Gloc-9 (Bahay Yugyugan) and Josue (Himlay, Determinado, Akala feat. Pablo) and Alex Bruce (Dime Girls). I'm only appreciating OPM hiphop now..
