Hi, Becky. Thanks for this video. It was great to see the placement of the design. I’ve recently learned you can spray the back of the topping with 505 and it works great! No need for pins.
What can we all say but thank you for another really great video. And for showing us how to keep our embroidery machines in good sharp when working with heavy materials.👍🏻👍🏻
I bought the weightless quilter at the Houston quilt show a few years ago; it was pricey then. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the product for FMQing. Yah! I am so happy I can finally use it due to your wonderful tip!
I agree about the cost of embroidery gadgets. However, this one is worth the money once you get the hang of it. If you want to finish a quilt using an embroidery machine, there's no other way to get a good result without your arms falling out of their sockets. lol
Thanks, Becky! I have an embroidery machine that’s new to me but not plucked up the courage to try it out yet. The robes look great and not too daunting a project. Love your videos! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
This was terrific, Becky! I haven’t monogrammed a towel or such yet and actually have this design set in my Designs by JuJu cart to purchase so your video couldn’t have been more timely. Thanks so much for taking the time to film this for us newbies! Melissa Noel
Hi Melissa! If you're considering towels for gifts, I highly recommend buying a sacrificial wash cloth of the same knap to test your designs to make sure all goes well before using the big expensive bath towel. Good luck! Go sew something! :0)
You do make me wish there was an ikea near me. The closest one is 130 miles away. I also wish I had a container store nearby. That store can be dangerous though.
I've been inside an IKEA exactly 2 times and it's not something I ever wish to do again. It's absolutely exhausting. I've had things delivered most of the time.
Very nice job, great for a Christmas Present for my best friend, Thanks for the idea. Hot Tub...when do you have time to sit in that, must be in and out! Love your laugh!!!
I'm not a quilter so I wouldn't buy that floating quilt holder but a lightbulb went on going to see if hubby can make me something like it with pvc and clamps, may something that would set on my sewing machine table
Oh my goodness brilliant 🎈🎈Sadly my embroidery machine is almost redundant..... can never think of things to embroider.... after watching you there is s light at the end of the tunnel xx
I love the Weightless Quilter. As I told you, August 22 I went to the Grand Rapids AQS Quilt Show. I was very disappointed with the vendors who weren't there. DIME has so many fantastic products but they weren't at the show. Do you think that AQS has too many quilt shows so the vendors pick just the ones in bigger cities? The quilts were amazing and worth the time. I saw some old friends which was great.
I do love it when DIME is at a show. I never thought about the number of shows that AQS does as I've only been to Houston. When I retire, hubs has promised to buy a motor home and drive me around to all the shows. Yay! I love the quilts in the smaller shows I've seen online.
I started naming off the vendors who weren't at the quilt show to my husband. I ran out of fingers. When I first started going to quilt shows in 2005, we went to Nashville. There was only Paducah, KY and Nashville and maybe Denver? Huge shows. It took 3 days to see it all.
Have fun at the Kimberbell weekend embroidery. Can't wait to see all your hands on projects. Love the monogram design. Did you watch the Designs in Machine Embroidery webinar they have each week on Thursday on Facebook. You need to watch Monday the 26th as she walks the vendors at the Babylock Dealer Conference and you could win lots of prizes. I am not on Facebook so you can win all the prizes I should have won!! LOL
Love your choice of monograms!!!! I wish I could be in San Antonio to see you at All Brands! (But some people have to tough it out here in Hawaii....! 😊)
Is there a formula to use for the placement of a design on the left side when you don't have a body to put it on? Like so many inches down from the shoulder for example? 😊 😊 😊 😊 I always have a problem placing designs for giving gifts( I don't want it too high up or too low). How do I get a happy medium?
The robes turned out so nice. What a great way to feel special when lounging. I have a few questions about software. Would you be willing to answer some for me? We can email or talk on the phone if either would work for you. I'm trying to decide which to purchase and the only people I have to really ask are my allbrands store. Of course the have to promote the two they sale and the prices are 500 and 2000. Not really sure if I need that or can find something that would work as well for a better price. Thanks!
Personally, I think Embrilliance is the best money spent for embroidery software. It does everything BES4 does. I have Essentials, Enthusiast, Stitch Artist 1, and Thumbnailer. If you are not a digitizer or are just starting, Essentials and Thumbnailer will do you fine. You won't believe how easy this software is or how many features it has for the price. Seriously, you'll think, "No way..." But yes. And it's just a download without a pesky dongle. There's a free version to try but you can't save anything. Take a look at this 4 part video series by Itch2Stitch to check it out. ruclips.net/video/oV7ABGIwHwM/видео.html The Thumbnailer is a simple program that works with your operating system to display an image of the embroidery file so you can see a picture of the file in your folder system on your computer. Best $50 spent even if you don't buy Embrilliance. Otherwise, all you see is a code that the manufacturer gave it and have no idea what it is. The other software, Simply Applique, is just $199 and does a single thing - turns an .fcm file into a applique file. I've got previous videos explaining that. But you've given me an idea for another video. :o)
I learned SO MUCH from this video! Thank you Becky!! I do have one question. When you embroider on a bath towel, would you use the same stabilizers? Won't the Pellon 541 wash and gone disappear after all the washings and make the embroidery design distort with time? I embroidered some towels as a wedding gift but didn't like the way they turned out because I didn't use a wash and gone as the base stabilizer. It was an embossed design so I didn't use the solvy topper as I wanted the loops to "disappear". I trimmed the base stabilizer away from the design as much as possible, but some of it still showed and I didn't like that. It didn't look like a professional job. So disappointing!
Yes, I always use the same stabilizers on towels. There is a trick if you're inclined to try it, but do a test first...(Not recommended for designs with knockdown stitches like this monogram). You can put a piece of plastic wrap - like the kind you have in your kitchen, as the topper. I don't recommend Glad Press & Seal because the sticky pulls on the towel loops and can look like a snag. If you're doing a solid satin stitch, that plastic wrap will never go away in the wash and will always be a base for the satin stitch to sit on. This works well on satin initials in a heavy pile. Still use the 541 Wash n Gone for the bottom stabilizer. You don't want to use the plastic on anything where it might show through and be shiny - like in the embossed area. The best test is to get yourself a wash or hand towel that is identical to the gift towels and sacrifice it as a test towel. It's worth the cost to make sure you have a pretty outcome on the gift.
I never thought about a washcloth or hand towel as a test material. Great idea! Thanks for all the tips. I’ll be using your stabilizers the next time I’m embroidering on towels.
I have been doing embroidery for almost 20 years, both home machines and commercial machines and I can't agree with your use of the pellon 541 for stabilizer in this instance. Pellon 541 is a wash away commonly used for Free Standing Lace that is digitized in such a way that the Pellon can be washed away and the design stays intact. It's not typically used on anything like a flat design since once the item is washed out the design will skew and not retain the correct alignment. The use of stabilizer is to stabilize the material, a thin wash away like the Pellon will not stabilize it after it's washed. A tear-away stabilizer, which gets torn from the back will stay with the design even after it's finished and washed.
What is the maker/brand of sewing machine do you have, Brother? And what modgis it? I'm wanting a new sewing/embroidery machine, yours seems easy to navigate!! Great instructions great video!!
Love the video! So question? You downloaded your JuJu pattern to your computer file, then straight to your usb stick? Oh I’m so excited your taking us with you on your trip. Thank you
Since I started using Schmetz Embroidery Gold Needles (they are titanium) I don't change needles until they break. I'm still using the same needle as when I started the Embroider-Along for the Trapunto Table Runner last summer. I just finished up 5 projects at a Kimberbell event plus both monograms on those robes...all on the same needle. Here's a link to them. They are AWESOME! amzn.to/2ZqnYXZ
Thanks Becky. Wish i had bought a Brother! The weightless Quilter is very pricey $400 is out of my league when converted to $Au. I do like that Mat though. Robes look awesome.
I only have upgrades 1 -3 as well. I think I'd only use 4 for the multi-positioning foot pedal and the drop light but now that I have the XP1 it has a drop light so I wouldn't need it. The multi-position foot pedal is handy if you do a lot of garment sewing (which I don't). If you get #4, you basically have yourself a Dream machine. www.brother-usa.com/virdata/content/en-us/had/modelbrochures/quattro%20upgrade%20summary%20sheet.pdf
Yes! Any fabric with a deep pile or knap will require a topper like Solvy. And you'd need the 541 if the back will be seen, otherwise, I'd use a regular cut away stabilizer.
Where do you go to print off the pattern? I have a white 3300 embroidery machine its uses a card can you give me some information on how to get other cards I need something not thank you I enjoy watching your
I don't know much about the White machine but I found some info here in a chat string on Embroidery.com for a suggestion on getting more cards. It looks like an expensive way to go that still only limits you to what cards are offered and 4x4 designs embroidery.com/White-3300.ec For printing, I use Embrilliance software to print embroidery designs. Here's a video of how to use the free version and it does allow you to print your design. It has a 5x7 hoop as opposed to the White's 4x4, and can take all the PES designs up to size 5x7 that you can find on the web because it uses a USB stick. I had the PE770 and I loved it so the 800 is a step up with a color screen. I think you'll really enjoy this one. Christmas is coming! Maybe Santa will bring you one. :0) amzn.to/2ZrIUxQ That is a great machine for the price.
De todos los. Videos que he visto esta señora es la mejor.

You're the best show on my TV, Lol! You really are funny, and so informative!
Awesome! I love how you keep everything real. Also the same humor that I'm used to. I love to be educated and entertained.
Love that monogram!
Great idea. I’ve never thought about using the weightless quilter for heavy embroidery. Thanks.
Thanks Becky! Love enthusiasm and your videos.

Have to do this for my brother for Christmas! He will be over the TOP, especially if I tell him the embroidery is "preppy"!😊
Oh! A gray on gray would be soooo nice!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Very nice indeed 😍

Great video! How do you clean your hoops? Hello from WV
I don't. If they get gummy, I'll run over them with some WD40 and then give them a hot soapy bath.
Great video. I have the same machine! What size hoop did you use?
I floated the design in the 5x7 hoop. Thanks for watching!

I have just got the weightless Quilter not tried it yet
I'm going to use it on the Half Yard Wreath Quilt now that I found the backing. lol
How do you print your sample
With that robe being heavy, the dime magnetic hoop wouldn’t work? Just wondering. BTW great job on the robe!!
Thanks! I didn't think about using the magnahoop. For some reason, that only comes to mind when I'm working on a quilt, wall hanging, or table runner.
Hope you washed those robes before embroidering on them?
Of course!
