Naaaah don't listen to those "fans" who think canon arcs should be skipped, like the ones who skipped Skypea, thag's just dumb, those people don't know how to watch a show, if there's an arc you don't like you endure it and that's it, but all canon material should be whatched even if there are filler scenes in between, just watch the show and enjoy it, not everything has to be edgy or high stakes (I think that's why people complain, if not then I don't understand people at all), just enjoy it, this arc is fun, that's all it is 😁
@@joffreyg7994 I really don't get it, most of this arc is in the m manga, I don't see any big thing that should be skipped, the anime is known for extending scenes for sure, but everything I see is canon, maybe there's an episode I don't remember... but still even if it's just one episode is not that bad, and all of these games they just watched in these episodios are in the manga, aside from that, any extended scene is still fine, there are no crazy filler plotlines or multiple filler chapters on this that I remember at least... is just a matter of enjoying the show

20:25 I keep making comments like this but.. nami's plan makes a lot more sense in the manga. in that version the next game is the third and final game and they already know that it's gonna be one on one between the captains. so taking foxy would be an instant win and they could take chopper back aswell. however they decide that they don't want foxy on their crew (and I guess they don't want to be peanuts) so they just take chopper and since shelly is not captured by the foxy pirates in that version the third game decides which crew is gonna lose something
Im glad you are liking davy back fight arc, i always find it enjoyable cause it highlights some of the aspects i love about one piece. People prob think its bad bcause they rather watch a big battle shonen arc full of hype fights and shit

I always tell people unless you read the manga first most filler in One Piece doesn't feel like filler, it just feels like part of this crazy epic adventure, and character fleshing or world building.
As someone who enjoys both watching and reading and is caught up with both the anime and the manga, I want to say, if you're enjoying watching the anime, by all means, please continue to enjoy watching the anime. I'm really glad you two are choosing to continue as you've been doing instead of giving into the pressure of the comments. Enjoying the adventure at your own pace is always the best way to experience it. Let's be honest, people are probably trying to rush you along because they want to see your reactions to all the hype moments later in the story. And it's understandable, but if you ask me, it's ridiculous to go around pushing subjective arc opinions on blind reactors. Except that the Davy Back Fight has no repercussions or consequences and is never mentioned again, almost as if it's filler. I don't skip the whole arc, just the Davy Back Fight. I know it's cannon, but I just don't find it believable that Luffy would gamble his Nakama. The same guy who understood fighting Bellamy in the bar was pointless is now willing to get in a meaningless fight? Both Bellamy and Foxy used the same argument. "If your a real pirate, then x." but for some reason Luffy no longer remembers the lesson Shanks taught him. It's just bad writing.
I don't know if you know that But in the manga there was 3 games and every member can participate once The first was only Nami Usopp and Robin The second game was Sanji Zoro and Chopper The last game was captain vs captain So Nami strategy was to take the foxy in the second game so the third game is automatically win, also Foxy choose Chopper because he was going to participate in the second game poor choice because Sanji and Zoro are much stronger than chopper But Luffy choose Chopper People hate this arc because of the anime poor adaptation and filler

This is one of the most important mini arcs cause the strawhats learned there are no fair figths among pirates. Inspite of that Luffy still chopses to be romantic and idealistic, but he dosnt expect others to be like that

If the straw hats fought the foxy pirates it wouldnt even have been a contest. Personally i think this arc is fun and lighthearted. It does kind of pale in comparison to the arcs immediately after this. People compare it to that and then determine this arc is worthless while it was never intended to be the same as water7 or enies lobby. Have fun with this arc and draw your own conclusions! Next few arcs are absolutely going to be a treat on a whole new level
There is a couple of episodes that you can actually skip and nothing will be lost, after this Foxy Pirates, there's like 3 or 4 episodes about a random creature that attacks the crew, but it doesn't add nothing to the story not even for the characters, but I do love to see Luffy and chopper in swim suits😂 in other fillers
I really love the Groggy battle with Zoro and Sanji here. This is the first time they TRULY fight together, side-by-side, and they didn't even have to speak to each other to work so in sync. It was also a very funny episode, with their bickering, Sanji's frustration with the ref, and getting back at him for the bullshit the guy pulls. I also love how Nami tricks the ref, too. XD The next challenge, I actually really dislike. But the two *after* it I found enjoyable. Funny how some anime-canon and the like are more enjoyable then others. X3

See, things like this are why the stuff the anime added ruins the arc. In the manga, only the captain fight was left to go, so taking foxy meant a default win for Luffy. Here, instead of seeming smart, Nami seems overly trusting. 23:14 another example of anime additions making no sense: in the manga, he takes chopper back, as his character would. They then move on to the captain fight and it's over. Short, fun and consistent.
I really wish that Sanji and Zoro would do more team fights like this, the combinations of their styles is just so cool :) The moment theses 2 stop bickering and tag team on a single enemy, its over for 😂

As I'm sure several others have said so far this arc, the Foxy Pirates/Davy Back arc is classic OG One Piece. Some goofy fun and its a fine arc. While I myself don't watch any filler I understand that the G8 filler arc is very well revived and many like it, so I get it when people like/watch that one. I haven't heard anything particularly great concerning the other filler bits so I would say its fine to skip the rest of filler if you want or give it a shot and play it by ear. The ones complaining about skipping cannon arcs are most likely a loud vocal minority while the majority of people are just enjoying the reactions and not going into the comments section. The most important is you enjoying the show and keep on doing so.
At this point, I want you to do every single episode of "filler" just to spite those commenters. Keep enjoying every piece of the journey while drinking the tears of those "fans".
Hi Lindsey and Carlson! Now that you know about "filler quality" since you watch Navarone arc, I just like to egg you both in watch not only the pst fillers but also the movies and specials. I think you will really find them rich in art and story quality. And they are part of this Toei development. I'm telling you this cause manga "pristine canon lovers" always complains about the animation. Even if is not filler.
The real problem with this arc in the anime is that it is intertwined with filler and not a G-8 type of filler. So they change some things to fit with that filler and they made it too long for what it is. The manga arc is not that bad, just a silly little arc to lighten the mood after Skypie and with great comedy (IMO) to boost.
I feel like I need to mention that Luffy did not pick Shelly in the manga 😅 he picked Chopper back and then went on to round 3 Its kinda a wtf moment in the anime for me that he would pick Shelly, but I get they wanted to stretch this arc out a bit more
people can't explain why they hate this arc but probably because of ODA's emphasis on pirates, especially luffy and his crew, being free.. them being stuck on rules and so on just doesn't feel right.. they could just beat their asses in a huge fight like they always do... but ODA just came up ridiculous reason as to why they have to follow the rules....
I really dont understand skippers. I started watching the show pretty recently (like a couple of years ago and caught up within a year or maybe 1.5) and back then I was debating whether I should watch One Pace, with a lot of filler/padding cut out. I decided to wait until around episode 500 (where most people agreed that it got very bad with pacing), but I ended up watching the whole show without it. Does the pacing get bad at times? Yes. But I just got used to it and it wasnt an issue for me. The story was captivating enough for me not to care. This series is long, but what is the purpose of rushing through it as fast as possible? It's not a race. There are things that the anime provides that the manga simply cannot. Color, animation, voice acting, music, it's all very impactful imo. Only reading the manga is kinda missing out imo. The opposite might be true, too, though. A small caveat though, I dont tend to get annoyed easily.

Haha, you noticed how One Piece casuals are hella obnoxious, huh. These guys are the worst tbh. You can tell they're only in it to see the fight scenes. They saw a clip of the newest episodes, probably watched a recap video or something, overlooked the story, failed to appreciate the nuance that makes One Piece One Piece, and just wanted to see the wild animation that's currently going on. It's all they care about. You guys keep doing your thing. Your patience and genuine enjoyment of One Piece will be rewarded time and time again.

I know this cannon arc nis bullshit. But believe me after this the water 7 saga, everything is going to get messed up and you are going to miss those fun days the crew had in previous arcs.
Anime Changes Note: Nami's strategy was even better in the manga because the 3rd round was a 1v1 duel. So taking Foxy would have made it a guaranteed win.
Next 4 episodes are fillers by the way, the anime scretched the games. In the manga Luffy just picks Chopper and they go to the Luffy x Foxxy fight. That's why fans hated this arc, mostly because of the anime.
Sure in the grand scheme of things, this arc is one of the weaker ones but honestly, that doesn't mean much. Even the weakest of One Piece arcs are still pretty damn enjoyable. None are bad enough to make me hate it. I loved the whole ride. Plus, who the hell skips content🤮🙄

This arc is not enterely canon. They should skip until the last round Luffy vs Foxy but everything between now and that fight are not canon at all.

I honestly can't tell whether Oda was inspired by Hanna-Barbera or by Tatsunoko for this arc.
Oh, Foxy arc get stretched in the anime for sure, but subtly set up themes that will be core in the next 2 arcs between the crew.

The real problem with this arc in the anime is that it is intertwined with filler and not a G-8 type of filler. So they change some things to fit with that filler and they made it too long for what it is.
The manga arc is not that bad, just a silly little arc to lighten the mood after Skypie and with great comedy (IMO) to boost.

people can't explain why they hate this arc but probably because of ODA's emphasis on pirates, especially luffy and his crew, being free.. them being stuck on rules and so on just doesn't feel right.. they could just beat their asses in a huge fight like they always do... but ODA just came up ridiculous reason as to why they have to follow the rules....
I really dont understand skippers. I started watching the show pretty recently (like a couple of years ago and caught up within a year or maybe 1.5) and back then I was debating whether I should watch One Pace, with a lot of filler/padding cut out. I decided to wait until around episode 500 (where most people agreed that it got very bad with pacing), but I ended up watching the whole show without it. Does the pacing get bad at times? Yes. But I just got used to it and it wasnt an issue for me. The story was captivating enough for me not to care. This series is long, but what is the purpose of rushing through it as fast as possible? It's not a race.
There are things that the anime provides that the manga simply cannot. Color, animation, voice acting, music, it's all very impactful imo. Only reading the manga is kinda missing out imo. The opposite might be true, too, though.
A small caveat though, I dont tend to get annoyed easily.
I mean cool that you started out with how much you like this arc already but then you just bitched all over the best part of it 😂

Haha, you noticed how One Piece casuals are hella obnoxious, huh. These guys are the worst tbh. You can tell they're only in it to see the fight scenes. They saw a clip of the newest episodes, probably watched a recap video or something, overlooked the story, failed to appreciate the nuance that makes One Piece One Piece, and just wanted to see the wild animation that's currently going on. It's all they care about. You guys keep doing your thing. Your patience and genuine enjoyment of One Piece will be rewarded time and time again.

i can agree anime adaptation on this arc gets sluggish at some point tho, which kinda affects how it goes since this arc it's supposed to be a fast-fun experience, but still nothing should be skipped, ever(outside from fillers, those can be skipped if wanted)
