Also, the brony community is a way of doing two things: One, it gives us a way to discuss, analyze, and honor the show, much like any other fandom. Two, it provides reassurance that, though many of us are looked upon as odd for watching and liking "Friendship is Magic", and maybe even have our manhood or sexual preference called into doubt, we are not alone. It's a hangout and a fortress. And it rocks. :D
XD My buddy just introduced me to MLP (I'm 20 yrs old). After the first ep I was like "This. Is. AWESOME!" and he told me "Welcome, to the herd *evil smirk"
I like it because in a way it's like a new Spongebob. Charecters that interact with each other in some strange predicaments, excellent writing, voice acting, great aniomation, distinct personalities and the occasional dark bit of humor or adult joke.
As GIR would say "I love this show". I love this show because it's well put together, has likable characters, and is very entertaining. And the fact that this show is so different to what I would think I would like just makes me love this show even more.
Yeah, I'm a brony, and I've seen plenty of opinions about bronies. But all it boils down to is this: we're regular guys who at some point suspended our disbelief and gave this show a shot, regardless of the franchise's history and the idea that it was meant only for girls. Having opened our minds, we could then appreciate the amazing quality, humor, and warmth of the show. And we retain our manhood, knowing that it has nothing to do with recognizing the rare gem that is "Friendship is Magic".
Oh yes, one more thing. While the mash-ups are great, the original music and remixes are, in my opinion, the best part of the community. There is a lot of rap and dubstep, but there's also quite a bit of classical and electronic. A smorgasbord of genres, if you will.
I must say that of all the videos, article, etc that I have seen regarding Bronies, this has to be the best, or at least the least offending. Well done. Though I do have one small qualm to speak of: The word Brony does not only pertain to adult, it applies to younger people too. It is also gender neutral, so it applies to boys and girls--though some people like the word Pegasister for girls.
that lady at the end had no idea what she was talking about ramble ramble talking in circles haha but my little pony is awesome thats why people like it
The reason I like MLP:FiM, is that it's just so well made. Good animations, stories, voice acting, and it's not mind-numbingly stupid like the older generations.
"Ive watched 14 episodes and i cant get into it" *facehoof* Watch episode 26 and if you still don't like it i would recommend you get your eyes checked out.. or at least get somepony to check if you still have a pulse.
@Aludjar It WAS the term for the male demographic. Over time, the male only designation is phasing out in favor of just being a general fan term, but that doesn't get rid of the fact that it's initial meaning was for the male demographic.
Not entirely sure how I feel about the psychoanalysis. I feel that bronies as a whole are relatively open enough to see beyond traditional preconceptions and after hearing the great music, seeing the great animation, and witnessing the witty dialogue and sharp characterization simply decided that FiM was a great show and developed a community- damn the traditional notions of what men could and should like.
@Sploog321 Well, actually, I don't know about anyone else, but the whole reason I watched it was because I saw that someone said it was good, I was curious so I took a chance. Also, you make a good point with the whole,"Why don't you watch other shows meant for little girls?" thing, but the simple answer is, none of those other shows are as well made. When watching this, you can tell the creators put a lot of effort into creating this cartoon, something very rarely said for Strawberry Shortcake.
@metaXzero This, ironically, is what I believe feminism's next step must be before major progress can really occur: Empowering men and boys to express the feminine. A lot of feminists get upset with me when I say it, but it would help BOTH genders. I would venture to say that TMNT's female fans are comparable in numbers to MLP's male fanship, but that there's less identity wrapped up in it because partaking in masculine hobbies has long been considered acceptable for girls. No need for a fuss
@TheMostDefinately well that's fine, if you don't love the show, no one is making you watch it or condemning you for not watching it, do your own thing, as long as you don't hurt others doing it.
@nguyent139 In japan they have several shows with the demographic split between very young girls and otaku between the ages of 18 and 35(coughcoughk-oncough)so I suppose it's similar...
So this is why people are calling themselves "Bronies" and "Fruity Assess", I had to check after I saw a few videos of "Radio Graffiti shows". I gotta agree with Ghost from Radio Graffiti.
I'm a Brony, live with that! Also, one of my Friends is a Girl, that disliked the Old 80s-Version of the show, even tough she's been part of the Target-Group. Also: May I teach you how to skin your horse? - WTF, if you really show something like that to those little girls, they'll get a mental Damage!
...Ok, we like it because it's a fucking good show. That's it. Good characters, good storyline, good animation, good voice actors, good music, etc. Nuff said.
@LearnManGo I don't think that's true. Once you get into the community itself, such as ponychan, Equestria Daily, synchtube, etc.; I believe you could call yourself a Brony without ever having stepped internet-foot onto 4chan.
Man, I remember the dawn of the Bronies. Back in high school some of my friends were really into MLP. I was still kinda under the impression that I thought watching girly things was weird. I was previously in the "If you watch girly things, then you're gay" to "I think it's weird". I gave the show a try to see why guys liked it so much. I thought it was dumb and stopped watching it. To this day I still don't understand why that show was so popular with the male demographic.
@NostalgiaGoggles What I don't get though is why you felt the need to distinguish "normal well-adjusted person" from "brony" (which is on its way of being the term for any of the fans outside the little girl demographic of FiM rather then just male fans) as if they are mutually exclusive. Liking the show when you aren't a little girl puts you in the brony bracket. I know about what the average ignorant person thinks towards the fanbase, but I was moreso addressing your comment.
"...failed in our desire for omnipotence..." Ok, wait, what? What? Really, what? Is THAT a thing with men, we want to be omnipotent or something? Did I miss a memo? I am so confuse. I need to go grab a smoke, be right back. Back and still have really NO IDEA what the hell that was about.
My Boy is totally getting into "My Little Pony". He's even, got a Rainbowdash game on his iphone. And, I'm not sure about it. Sometimes, I can watch it. It still makes me laugh him being a Brony. Should I mention he's military?
"Waiting Is Magic" seems to be called...Googled it. Lame ball game from the RainbowDash hurt her wing ep., the one where she's in the hospital...later she reads "Daring Do".
Yep, the iphone game is RainbowDash hitting a ball against the wall(you point & shoot the ball). Seriously, when BF plays that-I'm like "How bored are you? We should go somewhere or something dude."
we have been mostly getting negative feedback from the media, like when FOX news started hating on the bronies, but then again, fox news is always full of shit.
Let's be honest, media are only interested in the male bronies, because we're guys who like something intended for "girls" - whereas women can dress up in childlike clothes (last summer's playsuit trend anyone?) and like stereotypical "male" things (my 50 y.o. mother loves new series Battlestar Galactica, and just about every other major SF series in the past 30 years) it's not a big deal.... how do we know our gender politics is screwed up? because people even care about "why bronies?"
@HeinousActsZX Brony is hardly gender neutral. Male is suggested right there in the word. Yes, it's used to generalize and refer to both genders, just like "man" and "mankind" is sometimes used instead of "human" and "humankind," but it's nonetheless linguistically rooted in the masculine. As a female fan I'm torn between support for bronies (because I'm glad to finally see men value something feminine), and frustration with the fact that female fans (esp. adults) are so often overlooked.
@LeahLuciB Someone give this guy a metal! 4th Wave feminism should be that the empowerment of MEN, in aspects they're dogmatically forced out of otherwise.
@skrolli99 wut the new one is more focus on minor slapstick and absurdity than brushing hair and dress-up time.It presents characters with real and unique personalities, and it confronts real conflict and real consequence, while remaining light-hearted and fun. So it better cuz the show isn't just for little girls it for everyone, deal with it.
FUCK YEAH THAT'S MY THREAD
Seeing my video in there was a nice surprise, especially in a positive media article about the fandom.
XD My buddy just introduced me to MLP (I'm 20 yrs old). After the first ep I was like "This. Is. AWESOME!" and he told me "Welcome, to the herd *evil smirk"
The Brony at 1:40 looks just like the Sniper in Team Fortress 2. Awesome :D
Another proof that these franchises are bonded together by fate xD
I like it because in a way it's like a new Spongebob.
Charecters that interact with each other in some strange predicaments, excellent writing, voice acting, great aniomation, distinct personalities and the occasional dark bit of humor or adult joke.
Yea
I hope it lives on for as long as possible.
Yea
I saw this video a year ago and it made me look into it. Proud to be a brony.
Are you still a Brony? I'm one myself.
As GIR would say "I love this show".
I love this show because it's well put together, has likable characters, and is very entertaining. And the fact that this show is so different to what I would think I would like just makes me love this show even more.
This is a well made, respectful, and all around brilliant mini-documentary. Thanks for doing the research.
My friend told me that if I watched My Little Pony I would turn into a brony.
*Crosses Hooves*
Thank you so much for actually talking about it instead of just bashing it. It's always good to see some polite people.
Woah, Red Dead at the end.... that was kind of a twist of creepiness.
16, straight, drinking, smoking, hearing metal and reggae
and yes i love that fukcing show
Yeah, I'm a brony, and I've seen plenty of opinions about bronies. I prefer the word Pegasister for girls, but I agree with you.
5:00 she sounds like an Old Glad0s.... or as if she had been auto-tuned. XP
"not intended for them" i'm pretty sure the creator herself said that this show has something for everyone :P
Yea
That part when she was playing Red Dead Redemption with the girls really got me laughing out loud.
Nice to see a positive video about the fandom. It looks like she did her research and did not simply go for shock value.
1:30 WHEARS PINKIE PIE!!!
that lady at the end had no idea what she was talking about ramble ramble talking in circles haha but my little pony is awesome thats why people like it
I just go on these kind of videos to see the trolls start stuff lol
Thank you very much for portraying a non biased viewpoint of Bronies. :)
@HeinousActsZX The girl version is Pegasisters (since a girl can't be a 'bro') (:
The reason I like MLP:FiM, is that it's just so well made. Good animations, stories, voice acting, and it's not mind-numbingly stupid like the older generations.
Im a Brony and Im Proud of it.
PinkyPie is DEH BEST THANG EVAAAAAA
"Ive watched 14 episodes and i cant get into it"
*facehoof*
Watch episode 26 and if you still don't like it i would recommend you get your eyes checked out.. or at least get somepony to check if you still have a pulse.
It's a show, that's good. I don't see that anymore in today's cartoons, and I think that's what really makes this show FUCKING AMAZING!
If MLP dies, we will carry the friendship
I hope that you do! Compassion and friendship is something this world needs most of all.
I watch ponies but I am NOT a brony. Spread the word, normal well-adjusted people like MLP: FiM too. We exist, and we are out there.
Yes. Do you use the term Brony now?
hell ya
@Aludjar
It WAS the term for the male demographic. Over time, the male only designation is phasing out in favor of just being a general fan term, but that doesn't get rid of the fact that it's initial meaning was for the male demographic.
@metaXzero
Not necessarily, but ask practically anyone who knows what a brony is and they will NOT think of a normal well-adjusted person
wow that is just awesome, i had no idea! sounds like an interesting show, very cute that grown men like it too
Not entirely sure how I feel about the psychoanalysis.

There will be apples!!!!
Man I love Jhaller's channel!
@VenustasSomnium That seems too complicated. What if you want to be a unicorn?
Finally a great report on bronies, not offencive yet informative
Dude Red Dead Redemption and My Little Pony are the best things ever.
@metaXzero This, ironically, is what I believe feminism's next step must be before major progress can really occur: Empowering men and boys to express the feminine. A lot of feminists get upset with me when I say it, but it would help BOTH genders.

Yea
im 14, male, im NOT gay, and i love this show
Same (although I'm 18 and I was like 7 or 6 at that time)
@TheMostDefinately well that's fine, if you don't love the show, no one is making you watch it or condemning you for not watching it, do your own thing, as long as you don't hurt others doing it.
@nguyent139
In japan they have several shows with the demographic split between very young girls and otaku between the ages of 18 and 35(coughcoughk-oncough)so I suppose it's similar...
While the acting was a little obvious, I enjoyed this vid very much. Hooray for ponies! Hooray for the live and let live attitude! Cute kids too.
The woman is hot lulz. My little pony voices are earpiercing, fuck..
@Gamerono
ikr?
@Sploog321 Who ever said we watch the show ONLY because it has ponies in it?
my liltter pony 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
So this is why people are calling themselves "Bronies" and "Fruity Assess", I had to check after I saw a few videos of "Radio Graffiti shows". I gotta agree with Ghost from Radio Graffiti.
i'm surprised the interviewed bronies didn't have their faces pixelated or blurred
"Do you want me to teach you how to skin your horse?" 0__0
No♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ
I want those toys...
@ikstinkniet *they're, also you only need one exclamaition mark at the end of your sentance.
my theory was it was going to cause the end of the world so i needed to find out about it
yeah people treat it like a lifestyle
Red Dead...
Parenting, you're doing it right!
I think this teaches MUCH more than Hamtaro, but I still enjoy that show.
...Ok, we like it because it's a fucking good show. That's it. Good characters, good storyline, good animation, good voice actors, good music, etc. Nuff said.
Rock on bronies, a real filly won't judge your love of the show but will embrace it
Oh yeah that's right, you will never open your mind, because you dont have one!
@LearnManGo
I don't think that's true. Once you get into the community itself, such as ponychan, Equestria Daily, synchtube, etc.; I believe you could call yourself a Brony without ever having stepped internet-foot onto 4chan.
The ending was funny!
If you could only see my tears of shame/joy ;(
Sure, I like the show too. Drawn a few characters, too. It's good.
@NostalgiaGoggles
Are you really saying you can't be a Brony AND be a normal well-adjusted person?
You already have by searching for a video related to MLP.
@TaisiHyuuga I agree, I never really go on 4chan but I go on all the othersites. SO YAH.
What game is that at the end??
Looks cool.
Man, I remember the dawn of the Bronies. Back in high school some of my friends were really into MLP. I was still kinda under the impression that I thought watching girly things was weird. I was previously in the "If you watch girly things, then you're gay" to "I think it's weird".

20 male straight European nerd metal college student and a furry AND I FUCKING HATE RULE 34!!!
But I just LOVE the show!!!
Go Bronies!
@VenustasSomnium Aww, don't feel bad. This community is all about lovin', so you're doin' it right.
My Boy is totally getting into "My Little Pony". He's even, got a Rainbowdash game on his iphone. And, I'm not sure about it. Sometimes, I can watch it. It still makes me laugh him being a Brony. Should I mention he's military?
Rainbow dash game??? What rainbow dash game?? I wanna play
"Waiting Is Magic" seems to be called...Googled it. Lame ball game from the RainbowDash hurt her wing ep., the one where she's in the hospital...later she reads "Daring Do".
"Read it and Weep"
Yep, the iphone game is RainbowDash hitting a ball against the wall(you point & shoot the ball). Seriously, when BF plays that-I'm like "How bored are you? We should go somewhere or something dude."
That sounds boring.
Posted this video on my skype... Converted 4 friends like a boss
Yay!
@BronyMike Teletubbies was as big as cabbage patch dolls. Please don't tell me you don't remember.
My little pony was actually targeted not for little girls but for adults too :).
@HeinousActsZX Ty
we have been mostly getting negative feedback from the media, like when FOX news started hating on the bronies, but then again, fox news is always full of shit.
@LeahLuciB Yeesh, I was just tryin' to say that there are male AND female fans. And the term itself is gender-neutral, though its root may not be.

I've seen the first episode for shits and giggles.
@Nagol98 I Know. I was just trying to act like an idiot. But thanks anyway :)
Awww shit! Scribus!
@LeahLuciB
Someone give this guy a metal!
4th Wave feminism should be that the empowerment of MEN, in aspects they're dogmatically forced out of otherwise.
'Desire for omnipotence'? ... what the hell is that woman talking about? >.> I don't think she really understands this case at all...
@BranislavDJ i said possibly and its my opinion.
and if "freindship is magic" ponies dont skin ppl often
How about "FiMales?" No... No that just doesn't have that ring.
Personally, it's not about the show. It's about who, how, and what the show represents.
14 year old male here, brony forever.
how did I end up here?
Aww... here, let me wipe away your tears.
@skrolli99 wut the new one is more focus on minor slapstick and absurdity than brushing hair and dress-up time.It presents characters with real and unique personalities, and it confronts real conflict and real consequence, while remaining light-hearted and fun.
