I find this incredibly interesting and can't wait to see it. My presence has been primarily online for a very long time due to chronic illness and disability- when I started getting sick, my online opportunities weren't really there, because it was freaking 1998. I had to drop of school entirely by the time I was 15. Being so isolated as a teenager was incredibly damaging and on top of that I was fighting my body so much it didn't even feel like _my_ body. Then when I was 18 I discovered MMO's were a thing (FFXI was my MMO of choice) and I suddenly had an avatar that felt like ME and I could run around having adventures and making friends. I could have conversations without feeling physically drained. It saved me, truly. So many people just don't understand it but over the years they have opened up to it more.
Anyway, enough about me. I'm just so excited for this.
Also thank you for doing an individual video as the livestream would've been too long for me, thank you so much for this pitch and I am reaally excited for everyting!

Going to have a watch party with some mates when this comes out! As a genderqueer cyberpunk/sci fi enthusiast... Yeah this is going to be a great one. At this point I think trans nerdom and cyberpunk really have always gone hand in hand. Gender has always reminded me of the debate surrounding the liar's paradox, must a statement either true or false? Or is our reality a lot less binary than we make it out to be..

Discovered you on a Trek list and just started watching you other content! Excellent work on very timely topics. What really stood out to me was your presentation skills. Either you have Hitchens level ad lib skills or alien level teleprompter ability! Clear, concise with excellent articulation. I was able to grasp every word with ease. If I had had roll models like you and Katie 60 years ago, my life might have been very different.
This is going to be the thing that pushes me over the edge into getting Nebula.

Jessiiiieeeee OMG! I'm so excited for you! This is just too cool. I can't even imagine teaming up with a science advisor who works on Star Trek, she sounds amazing and I'm beyond hyped. I think if it were me I wouldn't be able to eat, sleep, or do anything hah. This is especially cool because I personally have a special interest in the Metaverse, avatars, virtual worlds etc and the implications in regard to identities, particularly for marginalized groups such as trans, queer, disabled, fat, neurodivergent and so on (I am a number of these myself so it is also personal). I can't believe you're getting to do this... well, no, I can believe it - you deserve it! - but it's still so so so cool.
On that note, I'm sure you already know about Second Life, but for the sake of anyone reading who wants to be part of a lower-case metaverse experience that's not corporate-controlled and is almost entirely supported and populated by creators... SL is in fact absolutely brilliant. Not only is it far more aesthetically pleasing than the low-poly Meta offerings, but content creators have developed avatar systems that allow you to personalize your avatar in some pretty amazing ways. The bodies available have systems that let you have any body type you desire, skin tones including vitiligo skins, top surgery scars, prosthetic limbs... anything you can think of. You can have hearing aids, insulin pumps, crutches and other mobility aids. And they look really good. You can have AOs that let you choose how you walk/run/sit etc. There's voice-chat if you want it, and text chat if you don't. There are LGBTQ communities galore. And the worlds people have created are beautiful and diverse, and sometimes so realistic that you can see the individual fiber textures in clothing and pores in skin. Don't get me started on the hairstyles... right now there are some absolutely amazing creators of styles for natural/textured hair... augh I'm rambling, I'll try to wrap this up, but SL is amazing and waaaay more inclusive and visually appealing than Meta and its cohorts. I should add that I'm not associated with Linden Lab (the company behind SL), I'm just someone who has been hanging out on SL for 13 years and adores it and wants to share it with others.
I hope it wasn't inappropriate to ramble about SL on this video (I'm autistic and ADHD and sometimes get carried away) but it seemed relevant since the topic is metaverses and the lack of diversity under corporate control. I want people to know SL still exists. It's not perfect, of course, but it's pretty damn cool.
Anyhow, once again I'm so excited for you, Jessie, and I can't wait to see Identiteaze when it comes out. I know that it's going to be groundbreaking and brilliant, and you deserve all of the success that I just know is coming your way. Thank you for all of the hope and positivity you bring to the trans community (and all the identities that intersect with it) by doing what you do. You're awesome.
