Small correction. It doesn't have individual blades acting as polepieces for each string. There is one radiused blade which has little notches in it so that there isn't a slot cut all the way across pickup cover which would make it weak/fail. String spacing irrelevant as long as strings inside width of blade
Fantastic tone and playing! I've got Nordstrand Big Singles in 4 of my 6 Spector Euro Series "ReBop 4 & 5" DLX FM & EX 4 & 5-Strings, but want to try something different in my "Legend Custom 6-String" (Spector doesn't make a Euro-built ReBop 6 and I'm not the full-time Six Player I used to be, but this is very close & I got it at 6over 60% off!) The "Big Blades" were at the top of my list along with their "Dual Blades" (I'm definitely more of a Single Coil guy, though) and yet another set of "Big Singles", but your example has pretty much pushed me into the "Big Blades" camp... that, and the review in the most recent "Bass Player". ;-) Your review is very much appreciated!
So...that is a 5501, correct? If so, to my ears, those pickups took the bass from it's stock, more compressed/modern tone, to sounding more like a J-Bass...which, for a j-bass fanatic like me, is a good thing :)
Thank you for posting this. I have that same bass and have never been satisfied with the passive sound. Would it be possible to have the passive/active so that down was passive and pulled up was active?
I like the tone and I think most of that comes from your touch/attack and playing style..I think I play a bit like you. at that’s what makes choosing pickups based on videos like this difficult

Big Blades warm or clear?

Great upgrade to that bass.
Very good playing basses

Would have appreciated a, full bridge, full neck, 50/50 as I'm not looking to recreate that bass but add to my own.
I am just curious, is your bass Ash or Alder Body?
What is the difference between these and zen blade? Is this pickups hum free?
ah! I need for my 55-01!!!!!
It's just one continuous blade that's notched, no?

Sure, that is an easy change.
Awesome thanks
