  • Electrical Load List (ELL) is one of the very first deliverables in any electrical project schedule which is maintained along the entire electrical project life cycle. It is an estimate of the instantaneous electrical loads operating in a facility, in terms of active, reactive and apparent power. ELL is not a simple equipment index but a complex engineering deliverable with certain calculations and summaries that destine the scope of subsequent electrical design tasks in the project, e.g. sizing cables, protection equipment, running power studies, etc.
Depending on the type of the project, the ELL may consolidate electrical load requirements from various design sources, e.g. process equipment, instrumentation powering requirements, HVAC, lighting, utilities, etc. Frequently, ELL is designed with reference to other documents where the load item tag is depicted, e.g. SLD, Schematic, Wiring, etc. This is because the change in the electrical load properties may require revisiting design tasks and update cross reference drawings and reports.
Lack of proper change management in the ELL may potentially derail the entire electrical project and impose overrun contingency cost. Therefore, electrical project leads seek for tools which allow effectively track the changes in the ELL and address the changes in timely and efficient manner.
This short video clip demonstrates Intergraph Smart® Electrical to automatically track changes in the Electrical Load List.
