This semi-automated and automated equipment was custom built for our needs and continues to evolve and improve over time. When we were starting out, there were not too many commercial brewing equipment videos on RUclips, and it's still pretty sparse out there. This is the video we wished to have been able to enjoy as homebrewers - we hope like it!
This is an off the cuff, unscripted tour and is the second in a multi-part series where we will show you our brewhouse, cellar, packaging line, warehouse, utilities, coffee program, distillery, farm, and other locations.
This is a high level overview - if there are certain parts of the video that you'd like to see a more in-depth video on, just let us know. We are going to keep on making these videos as long as you'll have us!
We had a ton of fun making this and hope you will support the channel with a like and subscribe!

So, what do you think? Are these videos too long? What would you like to see more of? Thank you for watching - feel free to check out the rest of the channel for more videos like this one. 🙌
These longer-form videos are great! If you could do content about the creative process that results in Tree House having such an incredible variety of beers it would be awesome to learn about.
Not too long....Once a week like this is great.
I love the level of detail. I own and operate my own tiny brewery so it's neat to see (and daydream) about having a brewery your size.
Video length is perfect! It's the attention to detail and memory retention on the can/lid counts is just wild to me. I think a cool for me (HR professional) would be to see your values system, employee structure is having multiple locations. That's also not really exciting beer knowledge, but definitely industry-insider info. Maybe a pizza tutorial as well 🤤
Love the long videos! I’m known for being pretty long winded when I give tours and talk about equipment and processes, and Nate is getting into the weeds on stuff I wouldn’t even bother with-gold star⭐️
Just keep with the thorough videos about everything! But look forward to seeing the lab🤓
I'm always shocked by the abilities of machine design. I can't even fathom the effort that goes into designing, building & programming a system like this. Must be an amazing feeling to see all you've accomplished.
Thanks Nate! Good to hear that you aren't afraid to dump a batch if it doesn't meet your standards.
These videos definitely aren’t too long, this is one of the best series I’ve seen on RUclips! I’m so thankful you all take time out of your days to make these videos, it’s really impressive.
On another note, the canning line itself reminds me so much of playing factorio, I love the automation!
Glad you like them!
I'm absolutely blown away. As a homebrewer, lover of all things beer and being located in Canada, Treehouse exists almost as this fictitious example of what beer is supposed to be. These videos bring it all to life and are a great example of how nothing is ever good enough in this craft and there's always ways to do things better. I really appreciate this series and even though I don't have any aspirations to brew at a pro level, I'm taking a lot of things from the videos to improve my process. It's a 9 hour drive, but I'm already planning a pilgrimage to Treehouse in the not so distant future. Thanks for doing this. Hope to see more videos in the future.
This was such a kind comment - thank you for making our day. We hope to see you soon! Let us know if you need advice on a trip!
That finished goods cooler downstairs = 😍😍😍
Thanks for the tour. I'm fascinated at the technology in your packaging system. Its so much more efficient then the packaging systems I designed 35 years ago. Don
Amazing video! Brings back memories on the packaging line for me. We unfortunately sold our bottling line because we found cans are the way to go (plus it was a HACCP nightmare). Still have a small mobile bottle filler for the sours, barley wine and imp barrel aged porter, but mostly do with just the 355, 473, 500ml and slim cans. It's crazy because we used to have a Krones before our KHM too! Now this bad boy puts out 800 cans a minute!
Glad to see that your brewery hasn't gone corporate when getting that big and the staff still having fun!
Keep the beer fresh and love the videos!
Thank you so much. As a project scheduler, I have just started working on my first brewery modification project and I needed to educate myself. Your video helped me a lot!
Glad it helped!
Gonna watch it later tonight. Just wanna say I'm a big fan of the videos from Tree House so far. Cheers from Denmark.
Thank you!
I would gladly take the not quite full cans. I don't mind!!
I was thinking the employees would as well. Why crush a 95% full can of delicious KJ? And why are there so many shorts produced with such ahigh tech system?
These are my favourite videos on the internet. Amazing job and please keep inspiring us.
One of the best videos yet
Loving the videos guys. The amount of automation you've been able to incorporate into the process without sacrificing quality is staggering.
Thank you Nate!! The work and ingenuity that goes into the final stages of production is incredible, and I’m so glad you’re showing the world just that! Tree House RUclips Fridays has become this household’s favorite day 🎉
Love how in-depth this is!
🙏🏼
Definitely the mega planning makes the Treehouse world spin on and on
Another fantastic video of your operation! I love it!
Loving these videos and behind the scenes looks into the machine that is Tree House. It is clearly evident that you take enormous pride in your work and that comes through in every sip. Keep both the great beer and videos coming, please!
🙌🏻 Thanks for watching.
Love these videos! And totally impressed with your devotion to quality control. Thanks again, Nate and Michael.
Our pleasure!
I really like these videos. I crack open a fresh tree house beer and enjoy it thoroughly while watching. Keep it up. Very cool to get glimpse at all the extreme measures that go into making the best beer in the world. Looking forward to the hops video.
Low-fills are one of the perks of working in a brewery. Awesome videos.
I am thoroughly enjoying these videos. I am loving the tour/education, and hearing what is important to your team and beer(no oxygen in this video).
Every time I watch I just wish I wasn't 5 hours away! It's great to learn your process in-depth and makes me truly appreciate the quality of your beer and not the hype. Your lagers and stouts are so good and I still love the occasional hazy, but sometimes it's just so hard to pick which ones!!
Caring about final product quality throughout the entire packaging process is so heartwarming to hear. Don't ever distro outside your state. Make yourself a beer Mecca! The man knows a QC right off the line.
I'd love if the packaging line ended in UPS/FedEx boxes getting shipped to my house 🙂
Amazing tour! Thanks for this, greetings from Italy
Very cool to see
I think my favorite Date Code was Very Sappy’s “You’re in a Laundry Room. Love the obscure Nirvana reference!
So good!
Makes me want to start brewing, but it sounds like hard work to start! Automation on this setup is next level, as well as the beers I've been lucky to have. Keep brewing!
this is the kinda content I love! keep it up. so cool!
so huge🤩 so much quality control - love it😊
Watching this video ABSOLUTELY makes me yearn to open my own brewery. I just don't think it's in the cards for my lifetime, but a guy can dream. Love the content. Just wish I could be on your side of it! Lol
Great video! We run a large packing plant in Cincinnati with a very similar line. Impressed with the 45 minute changeover. We aren’t quite there yet, but working towards it. Glad to know it’s possible :)
Man, it's been so impressive watching you guys continually grow since the early Monson days.
These videos are amazing please keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
As someone who works on manufacturing lines, watching how other people's line run is fun. I started as a mechanic and now work as an apprentice electrician working on plc's and electrical systems
Right on. Best of luck!
Impresionante, son un ejemplo a seguir Nate.
Does the machine that crushes the cans and sends the liquid off to be distilled play Taps at the same time??
Love the level of detail, definitely not too long
Thanks, Dom!
Thank you for this video! I was lucky to have TreeHouse for the first time last year, at my friend’s wedding. “Haze” I was amazed at how good at it was, and I’m fairly well-versed in the craft beer game. It is truly a sight to see the quality that goes into each and every can.
Thanks for making this video!
Great story- thank you for sharing!
Hi son… great video ❤🎉🍻
Very cool video. Thank you for taking the time to make it! Would love to work here
thank you for your kind comment
My kids loved my outfit change
Never a question of Nate’s passion for what he does. Happy to get an inside look at everything in motion. The only thing that comes close to being better than the beer is the ambiance of the TH grounds. Keep up the great work Nate & Crew!
we can't wait to do a campus tour when the weather breaks! thank you for stopping by.
I could watch hours of this
Thanks, Sterling - we'll keep it rolling!
These videos are so awesome. Love them. The dedication behind the packaging line and every little detail is impressive. A shorter video may have glossed over all the little details that make this so great. Keep the length! Now time for a Truck tour!
thanks, Nate! I actually love the idea of a fleet tour... I think it would surprise people! lot of equipment to make us tick.
@@treehousebrewco Fleet tour would be unreal! I really only know about the Julius-orange semi truck, but I'm sure there's a ton more vehicles around. request at least one Doug DeMuro reference in whatever video you eventually create. 🙂
I've been waiting for a video like this since you first moved in to the Charlton location. What a nice Friday treat (no pun intended)
Thanks for the tour Nate. Hope one day we can purches Tree House here i Norwy🤞🏽,Big fan from Stavanger🍻
Honestly you guys make a fabulous product. I drive up to Charlton from Central Jersey every few months yearly to get my 3-4 cases.
thank you!
love these videos, so interesting. the precision is fascinating.
I'm picturing Homer & Barney showing up to fill your "Can Crusher" role, kind of like Newman as 'the cleaner' in "The Muffin Tops!"
The scale of this place is unlike any craft brewery I've come across in England. If you can keep the quality at this scale that's amazing!
I love the series so far. Everything is the brewery is thought out in detail and with passion for the beer - so inspiring to watch. I wouldn't even mind going deeper into the topic.
Have one question. Lots of breweris utilize unitaks these days. Just not to move beer around too much. What is the main benefit of using brite tanks?
These videos are awesome and my god I would love to brew for you. The amount of knowledge you have is amazing.
The tiled cellar is amazing 🥲
Hi Nate, discovered your channel whilst I was researching equipment/processes for a nano brewery (hoping to open something one day in New Zealand). I fell down a rabbit hole watching all your vids (my next brew is your IPA recipe you offered up). Keep it up - absolutely loving it! Thank you.
Thanks Jim - I am glad to hear it. We started making these videos because it's something we wish we had starting out. Good luck!
It’s impressive that you can package a beer and sell it on the same day of the canning date! Shout Out to the packaging department! 🍻I hope Heaven looks like your finished products room! Keep these videos coming. They are Awesome 🍻🔥
You got that right! Thanks for watching!
20:30 " can crusher, we've only used it manually by hand " 🤣🤣😭 I love this guy. Beer king
i love it !
I've been to many breweries across the country and 95% of the beer is not cold at all🙄 Bottom line people prefer ice cold beer and glasses, good for you guys keeping it cold 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Interesting to see the scale of a larger brewery! Videos are spot on! Thanks for sharing! My lid feeder only holds 1! 😂😂
indeed, we started there. in the grand scheme we are still quite small. best of luck to you!
Keep it up, good stuff! Not too long for me 👍🏻
Make more content, your videos are very informative keep it up
thanks - definitely check out the channel, over 150 vids and counting!
Love these videos Nate & Crew. I knew you guys were good, but never knew how good.
Being an EA/Proj Mngr, I'd love to see a video about your office & administrative staff. And maybe a day in the life of a TH executive.
Thanks so much for educating me on your excellence.
Great idea, Gail - noted!
Literally asked for the same thing! Haha. The staffing/HR nerd in me is very interested in this, as well as company values structuring, etc.
A mechanical engineer's dream tour. So many moving parts, a very well hopped machine.
Wow!! You've come a long way from when you were filling my growlers on St Clair Rd. 👍
Another great video, I really enjoy what you're doing with these videos, showing off some of the brewery equipment and processes. Also, was just by Deerfield and picked up some King Julius, maybe it's from this batch?!
Yes sir - should be!
As a professional brewer in Tennessee, I've been thoroughly enjoying these videos and seeing such a large scale done with such precision and care.
By the way, I didn't see y'all come back to the can piercer in the video, but kind of D.O. levels are you achieving in the final product?
These videos are fascinating! I’d love to hear the history of the brewery, photos / old video of the locations leading the Charlton, hear from original founders and early employees, etc.
There are tidbits of our history throughout the channel. I am an original founder, conceptual leader, and head brewer responsible for our beer and recipes. 🍻
Impressed with the knowledge Nate has in Automation but we wanted you to open the PLC panel in the last one! :)
we are going to make a mega-nerd video soon on utilities - will start opening doors on those!
@@treehousebrewco mega-nerds drink alot of beer. Especially TH.
My favorite Date Code was on a Very Green: "In Smart we trust" , a reference to the Great Boston Celtic , Marcus Smart. He'll be back after the All Star Game.....bring this Date Code back as well.
The videos are great. You can tell how passionate Nate is about his beer. I new this the first day I met Nate in Brimfield and we talked about his beer. Thanks for giving the world a great beer to enjoy.
I really wished you shipped to Indiana. We would buy all the time 😊
Great video, love this series. Can I get a wrist check on what nate is wearing?
I’ve never seen a treehouse keg. would be cool to get one
So impressive! The packaging process is much more complex than one would think. So what is the TPO on your average can of beer? Your efforts to reduce the beers exposure to O2 are impressive.
Awesome episodes! One of the best
Could you talk about the yeast? What kinda yeast are you using? homemade or else?
I've never had treehouse although yall are of course legendary. I'm fresh in the industry at a relatively small brewery, coming in with homebrew experience and mostly manufacturing experience, its surprising and nice to see and compare the process here to when i worked at a vinegar factory. Its familiar from my past experience but also way different than my current brewery experience.
Wow, all those lovely lines with all the bells and whistles, but still manually filling kegs. You should share with Nate a new, but small, semi-automated filler that Chris at Enegren Brewing developed. He just created an Instagram for Enegren Systems and just posted some videos in their stories today of it in action. Pretty sure he’d jump at the chance for you to trial one.
Awesome videos. There aren't many 40 min videos on RUclips I can sit through and I've watched all of yours! What is the fill tolerance of the x-ray and how many get the boot?
I wish we could drink these beers in the UK
With this type of production line I should be able to find Treehouse beer at my local beer store in Texas..
I love these videos and am a huge fan and longtime customer. Can you do one about scaling up from the shed days to Monson, then Monson to Charlotte, and how difficult it was/is to replicate that sweet spot for the beers? The cans coming out of Monson were so effing good with that melon note! I still get it now, but it's sort of random batch to batch. Was it flaw or intended? Is it due to the changes in the organic ingredients? A mix of factors? Is it the yeast?
Cool video, really enjoy how you maintain your quality by mitigating any sources of oxygen that can impact the can.
Wouldn’t pasteurizing the can improve the quality? My concern would be shelf life and micro growth.
Cool process though, thanks for sharing.
I can't tell you how quickly I would dive head first into that reject bin! I don't suppose you've ever considered packaging into cask? I can't imagine there is much demand for that sort of style in the US. Also would have been cool to see how you rack from barrel aged stuff into can/bottle.
Something I wondered about your Can distribution in Charlton - have you guys ever considered selling ice for everyone's coolers? Not a huge deal but I wondered if it was a logistical issue or something.
Keep up the content. Nate's passion for what he has built is fantastic!
we have - it's a matter of freezer storage, we are bursting at the seems for our own items atm.
@@treehousebrewco That makes sense - beer first and foremost. Thank you!
amazing good just in your house for production. great i need to know how to make the can which materials thickness i need to fix my can
Love these longer detailed vids!
We’ve seen a bunch of all the frontline sexy equipment and departments - what about a look into some of the support teams and equipment, such as Quality Control and Engineering?
Indeed - a long list of ideas to come! Stay tuned, and thank you for watching!
Word !
Nate sign me up for a keg!
I’ll have to look up how outsourcing the packaging of beer even works. I would be very paranoid about final product quality if that included transferring the beer to a container that can be transported somewhere else. Seems worth it to have the equipment onsite and have control like what Nate mentioned.
You can do that or have a contracted third party come in to do it for you on mobile equipment.
I had an under filled cold brew can a few months back. My assumption was it didn’t get nitrogen… but the can was squished so maybe the level was high that the X-ray didn’t catch it. Once I cracked it the can uncrunched and the level dropped.
And when things run good we never speak of how good they run🤪
This is unreal. Turning over their IPAs within 4-10 days is absolutely incredible. They're the king if "freshness", and they know it too.
great look at how much you do to make TH the very best
Yes indeed!
Dude, I have been binge watching your videos! Do you guys ship down to Long Island!? I want to try KJ so bad now!
thank you! we do not - our beer is available at our brewery locations in MA. we'd love to host you
there's about 6224 16 ounce cans on every pallet
Love the vids. Just wanna know what your DO levels are actually at. Running a smaller filler getting sub 30ppb fills most of the time I’m curious what a multi million dollar line can provide ?
Finish goods coolers..Wow! The evolution from homebrewing to high tech is mind-boggling. Short-fills crushed tho? Ouch. Must be some thirsty helpers out there somewhere. Longer, in-depth vids are great. Cheers!
There is no shortage of good fills to go around. 🙌🏻
Amazing! Any export going to Europe?
I've done the hand labeling. It is....something.
