I do agree with you. So since they will not play our music on the mainstream, please listen to what we do in the old school way: ruclips.net/video/nD-ZLygypEg/видео.html
Didn't matter, MTV wasn't going to play Evelyn's music, not a black Funk artist. Michael Jackson's record label had to extort MTV, to play more black artists. BET was out a full year before MTV, so that's where she would have got her video played. Or maybe a television promo spot. But not MTV. @@AEMoreira81
Me and Family went and seen her in concert for 2023 Cinco De Mayo. She put it down like always. Oldschool will always be the best. We danced the whole time.
Reggie D. Probably so but I sure took advantage of it while it lasted. The club's was my second home during the 80's especially. I can remember going to clubs at midnight and not leaving till 6 or 7:00 am. Just crazy fun. Miss those days.
In a way yes. Maybe we thought that I would stay forever this way. But no, it “changed”. Thats why we appreciate it so much today.! I’m almost 60. Bless everybody of my generation.! We lived it.!!
Riding my bike with the neighborhood homies, enjoying the sunshine & not a care in the world, summer time on the East side of Aberdeen MD 😁 Washington Park apartments baby😀👍
Same here same age 53. If you can't feel this, one must travel back in time, when things were thing affordable, and before there was were homeless families on the street, a time before we as a people as a nation lost our innocence. You have to have lived in this ERA to truly enjoy. Because if you were we witness the beginning of this technical era. Because back then I didn't listen to music felt it!
I love how when she is singing a line, it seems like the notes start out in the low range, build up to higher notes, then come all the way back down to the lower notes again. Not many songs do that.
I was in the grocery store today standing in line and this song all of a sudden came on the overhead speakers and I shouted like a teenage girl "that's my jam right there". The man behind me starting doing the robot dance so I took the woman's hands that was in front of me and we started dancing right there, the cashier let out a "wooooooo". Life was perfect..... even though it was just a short time.... for a few minutes.... it was perfect.
70s, 80s & 90s forever the best times of club music, no matter what genre or style of music, nothing's like the good old days. but musicians, producers, and dj's out there keepin' music still alive.
These old singers could pass a message easily without so much drama of nudity, fake butts and over exaggerated makeups 💄 because they were not imposters unlike the current generation
Such a classic dance track! Everything is perfect, the bassline, the amazing bridge, the chorus, and most importantly, Evelyn's amazing vocals. Perfect jam.
There's NO WAY we'll EVER get this Great music back ijs F'real tho cos az soon az da beat hit You can feel it in ur Soul🕺🏽🎶💃🏽🎶& whn the BeYouTiFul Queen Ms. Evelyn starts ta sing w/her Big FearLess voice you Will Dfntly kno & that's jus how Great these good ol jams were & STL ARE til this day cos I'm STILL rockin to it, fa sho!!!💯🫶🏽🖤🖤🖤🎶🎶🎶🎶
I don't know what this shit is that makes mainstream today, but music like this has great and soul. They have lyrics that take your mind on a journey through love and life. This is the music I also grew up with and it reminds me of what music is. This is over of my favorite songs by Evelyn King
I saw her perform at the Hatchsell in Boston around early 2000. She must've been at least in her 40's & was doing high kicks & twirling around in 4 -inch heels! She invited several ppl on stage for a dance off & smoked them all & they were half her age. She ain't playin' around! Springfield, Massachusetts finest! ❤️
She was a trendsetter that never really received the accolades she deserves.
You mean woman turn to man or man turn to woman ?

Go West Philadelphia
Philly has a dope sound.
Crazy that she had a video for this in 1981! She was a star...no doubt about it!
MTV was just getting starter and Evelyn Champagne King was just 21 then…a perfect combination.
But it wasn't played on MTV then, more like BET

Nowadays it takes a team of 20 people to write an half decent song
