I would argue that him disarming Windu was acting in defense of a government official Windu was going to kill the Chansler without arresting him and taking the law into his own hands, hell you could consider that a military trying to depose the rightful head of state
Windu had tried to arrest Palpatine due to him basically admitting to treason (orchestrating the entire war) to a law official. Palpatine responded by killing three law officials and attempting to kill him. When Windu disarmed him and again, tried to arrest him, he again tried to kill him (demonstrating that he still was armed despite not having a lightsaber). At this point Mace had pretty good cause to believe Palpatine would attack him with the force equivalent of a flame thrower the second he was distracted.
@@hardcorebatmanfan7591issue is, Jedi are not law officials, they are a religious group. They had no rights to try and arrest anyone without orders from actual law officials. And no, being in a military doesn't make you a law official. So Anakin was in the right here in the eyes of the law

2:56 That wasn't a felony murder on Windu. Windu and 3 other councilmen were trying to depose the elected leader of the Republic. After disarming him, WIndu attempts to execute him, and Anakin simply defends the Chancellor. He doesn't even kill Windu, he simply cuts his arm off in self defence. 2:57 Windu and the councilmen were conducting a coup d'etat against the chancellor, it wasn't a 'government' investigation since the Jedi didn't have government permission to investigate the Chancellor (Windu hadn't even convened with the rest of the Council on the matter let alone asked the Senate). 2:58 The chancellor wasn't a fugitive, as there was no concrete evidence to prove that he was a Sith Lord as the Jedi had suggested and they didn't have the authority to arrest him 3:37 Vader didn't commit treason, it was the Jedi who had committed treason. 3:42 The Jedi Temple was not owned by the Republic government, it was private property owned by enemies of the state. 4:31 the government property he destroyed was owned by the Separatist Alliance, therefore he was destroying an enemy facility as part of the war. 4:39 Obi Wan was an enemy of the state who had refused to comply with the government earlier. 6:23 Vader didn't order the strike on Alderaan, it was Tarkin who was in charge of the station, not Vader.
@@AwesomeMutation If you try to arrest/execute the leader of any nation without any legal evidence to prove that they are guilty of the crime you are accusing them of, is that not treason? And even if they had proof that Palpatine was a dark side practitioner or he had admitted to the public to being a Sith Lord, how is that an arrestable offence? The issue with Palpatine is that he had caused the Clone War, but the Jedi had no evidence to prove that he did. All Mace Windu had was Anakin's testimony. Besides, when Windu does eventually detain Palpatine, he reveals that he had no interest in having him stand trial because he claimed that the courts were rigged. Imagine if a gang of armed men attacked the President claiming that he was part of a cult that was trying to overthrow American democracy with 0 evidence and then tried to kill him without trial because 'the courts were rigged'. Is that not treason?
There's also that last one that could be considered Regicide, as Palpatine was the legitimate head-of-state. Palps committing a War Crime (Torturing a Prisoner-of-War) could make the Self-Defense claim justified, but instead of disarming him, Vader killed him.

Due to the fact that the droids are highly replaceable, and seem to have no impact when destroying them as they are technically war criminals, any crimes against the droids in the prequel trilogy shouldn't count against anyone.
That would actually be around 9900 life sentences since around 99 percent of the Jedi were killed with remaining survivors either dying later on or turning to the dark side or hiding from the empire but 10000 is a rough estimate on how many Jedi were alive during the clone wars.
I can imagine Vader screaming NOOOO after learning of Padmes death and then Palpatine just giving him a citation giving him a fine for destroying property
I'd say "Discharged from the Jedi Order" is a bit redundant, since Lord Vader saw to it personally, that there was no Jedi Order left to be discharged from.

Is that "insubordination" one really a crime, though? Yeah, he was ordered to stay on Tatooine, but he was also told that protecting Padme was his first priority, and if Padme insisted on going after Obi-Wan, it's not really Anakin's fault and therefor is not insubordination.

During the clone wars he committed multiple war crimes: false surrender and torturing prisoners (Cad Bane, Poggle the lesser)(I can understand not wanting to go through the entirety of swcw for one video). During Kenobi, he dragged a man out of his house with the force and snapped the man’s son’s neck
I really enjoy watching your videos because I feel like the charges and fines you give to the characters are more realistic than the sentences a real-life person would receive. Never have I witnessed a character receiving over 2 billion life sentences. 😲
First day in prison, and Vader was out faster than a wave of his hand. A new meaning to “The Great Escape.”
@@hardcorebatmanfan7591 Windu didn’t have the legal authority to march into the chancellor‘s office and attempt to overthrow the government. Palpatine had the ability to fight back and defended himself. General Skywalker arrived in time to witness Windu attempting to murder the chancellor and acted in defense of the government.
Windu committed treason in time of war and the chancellor exercised his authority to summarily execute him for his crime.

0:27 As a German, the blast sounds from the feighter Anakin is using sound so funny because they sound line "Knall", the German word for "bang" as in the bang of a weapon.
2:58 The chancellor wasn't a fugitive, as there was no concrete evidence to prove that he was a Sith Lord as the Jedi had suggested and they didn't have the authority to arrest him
3:37 Vader didn't commit treason, it was the Jedi who had committed treason.

Now imagine the sentence if we count the series and video games (there are also the comics and novels but regardless of the canon I think it would be impossible to review it)
Due to the fact that the droids are highly replaceable, and seem to have no impact when destroying them as they are technically war criminals, any crimes against the droids in the prequel trilogy shouldn't count against anyone.

For the Mace Windu murder, couldn't you argue he was acting in self defence to stop a fellow govenrment agent unlawfully killing a suspect?
I'm no law expert but from what I understand that would be classed as "defence of a third party" rather than self-defence. Same with saving Luke from the Emperor.

He didn't do anything to stop her. A decent lawyer may be able to argue that Padme was at fault for dragging him along, but the Jedi Council are acting as the military in this case and are ultimately the ones who have the final say in regards to her security. Basically what I'm saying is that Anakin defied a direct order by not restraining her, or at least making a real effort to dissuade her from running into enemy territory.

My God, I'm only halfway through Episode III and the sentence is already astronomical.
Problem is, the Empire as a whole is Sith property. So everything Vader did was legal and within the bounds of the law. Yes, even killing his master, since that's how Sith get promoted.

Falling to the dark side isn't something that just happens. It's a slow process that might take years.
Anakin is from Tatooine….. it’s not under Republican jurisdiction….. nobody on that planet is going to charge him with a crime for taking out the trash and wiping out a village full of sand rapists. the locals probably would have thrown him a party and erected a statue in his honor.
Is that "insubordination" one really a crime, though? Yeah, he was ordered to stay on Tatooine, but he was also told that protecting Padme was his first priority, and if Padme insisted on going after Obi-Wan, it's not really Anakin's fault and therefor is not insubordination.
