This is a shortened version of the short version history of the Church/Cemetery...
Cemetery Burial Stipulation: Nelson & Catharine Dewey stipulated in the deed that burials were “subject to the consent of the said parties of the first part [Deweys].” The families “of Joel Allen Barber and George H. Cox and Lenhart O. Shrader” were grandfathered in the deed. This stipulation is why Meta Cox’s 1904 burial was the last in the cemetery; the Deweys were no longer alive to approve burials.
03-29-1904: Meta Cox died. She was the last burial to occur in the cemetery.
Circa 1912: Parishioner Ted P. Lowry had a Muslim monument erected “just outside the sacristy door” in the memory of Sergeant Lastam, who had given his life for Lowry in the Phillippines on April 11, 1910. (The Lowry monument was moved for the back addition. We just had it moved to the current location and its to be reset there.)
