    You are SO PERCEPTIVE...
You asked us Dimash fans to be TRULY honest,.... so here it goes.
1)Yes, the song is far below his standard.
in 2017 just as Dimash was finishing up the Chinese Show "I am Singer" , Dimash was entering a new level of fame that was very new to him. The country of Kazakhstan was enamored by his 2017 Bastau concert where he was eclipsing 40,000 ppl just to see him... again, this was all knew to Dimash. Dimash was invited to Los Angeles where he sang for the Khazakh school of Arts in Los Angeles where he performed and met collaborators for this song Screaming.
Dimash, told us this year, he barely knew a handful of responses in English and you could hear just how thick and unsure he was with his English pronunciation... Although in 2020 he still has an accent, and still needs to improve,... he is head and tails better at English now than he was back then.
In my personal opinion I believe they tried to rush him and someone or a group of people pulled him back,... because immediately afterward, in 2018 he moved to Beijing and...in addition he often flew to Russia and spent a lot of time collaborating with Igor Krutoy a world famous Russian Composer where many of the beginning hits he sings are in Russian. Russian is Dimash's second language and a language spoken in Kazakhstan...besides Kazakh.
That was a smart move... and "Screaming", which was his only English music video, fell to the waste side.
Dimash often ends his concert singing a form of the song "Screaming", as the crowd joins in as he runs around the crowd grabbing 💐 🌸 🌺 flowers from his fans.
Unforgettable Day was written by Dimash....Listen to 'Unforgettable Day' (Gakku Concert)... and you'll see a different side of the artist. I believe 'War and Peace' was also a song written by Dimash.
As much as I am a Dimash fan,... and we aren't stupid... we can see as a musician for over 40years,... we can see you are also enamored by Dimash's God given talent,... but being honest is a must.
    We appreciate your honesty.
    Peace.
    -Johnny B

Does everyone expect Usain Boult to break his 100m world record EVERY time he has a race, that's totally unrealistic, just as it's unrealistic to expect every Dimash hit to be better than the last, I'm happy for them just to be excellent !!

Hi Ken, I'm from Russia so I'm writing through a translator. Thank you for this video, you are damn right that Dimash is above this, but not everyone is as well versed in music and not everyone can appreciate his vocal skills as you. Most people like modern music with auto-tune without any semantic load. But I fully agree with you that Dimash needs to work in a different direction and the popularity and recognition of his character will find. Thank you again, you are a very cool guy and it is very nice to see how tactfully you Express your thoughts and give your comments.

Sorry for my English ! I'm italian ! This song was recorded 3 years ago when Dimash participated in the singer! He has signed a contract in China for several years! His Chinese fans are very young and there are so many! This song as you say is too simple for Dimash but as always he puts his signature in the end and makes this song something epic! It works very well in concerts when he goes off stage to meet his fans and sing with them! Finally Dimash can sing everything even the shopping list and it will always be Dimash!😂💖

Ken, I agree with you. It's a nice, catchy pop song with a nice ending. But.....with great vocal Dimash. On the other hand, I consider it important - it is one of the elements in Dimash's search for his own creative path. Also, the song was written in his "Chinese" period, which is shortly after Singer. In China, Dimash has a young audience and has a lot of really beautiful songs in Chinese that I like more than this one. Now this song is very well used by Dimash to end concerts and give thanks and performances by the musicians and dancers and to for goodbye to the audience. Pop songs can also be beautiful and on a high level, I hope to hear more than one great pop song by Dimash. I also honestly think that if Screaming enters the MTV livestream rotation, viewers will like it. Probably more than Qairan Elim clip of high artistic level. Dimash's vocals impress me in every genre. In the difficult times of the pandemic, which forced artists to work in the comfort of a home studio - in my opinion, Dimash matured as a person and artist. His latest works in Kazakhstan are of an extraordinary artistic level. Qairan Elim - inspired by the pandemic, Qaragym-Ai, in memory of music mentor Dimash who died on covid 19. Samaltau - livestream from home studio - at the invitation of the Tokyo Jazz Festival.
Hope to see you soon with a great new reaction, Ken. Be well.

YES,Thats perfect song for his Audience sing with him at the end of concert. Most of his songs too hard to sing for normal people 😓😂😂

  • @ju1ietta

This is a really structurally simple song that Dimash sings at his recitals as a closing performance for more than 20 minutes (!). At this time, he enters into interactive contact with the public (goes to the hall, between the rows, communicates with the fans), and also introduces the audience to his musical team, interspersed with a huge variety of improvisations. It is the prostate of this song that allows him to do these incredible things, being pretty tired after a two-hour vocal marathon. :)
    /////////////////////////////

Dimash is really trying to find his sound in the neo-classical genre. He’s amazing in classical. He’s... okay in pop songs. I think someone who doesn’t like classical would enjoy hearing the first bit in the radio... but I think whoever produced this song might be underestimating dimash’s audience and our broad music taste hahah ... dimash is actually studying music production in university so I hope he’s able to produce more by himself because I’m sure he is capable of doing better. However, I don’t think he is doing this for more popularity in the pop genre. Dimash likes to try a lot of different things and this was an opportunity for him to try this style and trust people who are more knowledgeable in it even if they gave him a generic sound. I want to see traditional instruments incorporated in the future I think it’ll be an amazing touch. Thank you for the reaction!

HI justsomeone, I think Dimash has a similar thought as yours, in regards to incorporating more traditional sounds, not just instruments, in his future songs. His latest production Qalin Elim is a breath of fresh of air when its aired in MTV USA among the oversaturated hip hop, kpop and dance pop songs in the top five. I definitely would love to see him to produce more of this fusion style for his next album. I believe, if anyone, he could find that new sound.

I agree that the song is below Dimash level but I think he made this mediocre pop song into something that not everyone can reproduce. He put his Dimash stamp on it, like “Hey, here is the way I sing pop songs.” Another thing is that he needs songs like that in the concerts, something that people can sing along. The tune is very easy and catchy, and that’s exactly what he does every concert. It’s not Art like most of his songs but people like it, it gives energy that they can express singing along. I bet if you went to his concert you would sing it too. 😄

I agree that it is below his skill, the problem of course with pop songs is that people want to be able to sing along to them...let's face it most Dimash songs due to his skill and range are beyond our skills :) And yes, autotune is here to stay in editing, live performance, as is lipsync unfortunately, depending on the venue. The modern expectation for perfection has taken over...but as far as it goes. Dimash is the one of the closest to it.

I remember my mom saying that really bright academic kids have a lot of trouble settling on their career choice because they are so good at so many things. This, for me, is Dimash, as a younger kid (this video is 3 years old), trying out this kind of music to see if it fits for him. There is a chunk of his earlier work that is in this category, and to me, at least, it always sounded a bit derivative.
His work has matured a lot in the last year-not just his voice, but also the thoughts and feelings behind the work, the emotions and the lyrics. He's growing into his own. Qairan Elim, Samaltau, Qaragym Ai-the fireworks are muted and precisely applied, but the songs are searing. And these are searing times.

I wish, Ken, that Dimash would meet people like you with such great experience and genuine knowledge when he decides on a longer stay in the US after this corona-sh.... is over. Erlan Bekchurin mentioned in the credits is the friend of the family with whom Dimash is usually working on producing/arranging songs, all the others are indeed "strangers". I think regarding the mv, he was influenced at that time by having to produce s/thing for the US market by all means. I think, that today he can easily raise international interest with one of his phantastic songs in Kazakh, happy-sound or serious stuff, such as Qarian Elim. Doesn't matter! (amongst all the easy-going stuff, it reached place 3 of MTV most requested songs on Friday's lifestream w/in 3 weeks!. Cheers from Vienna

To be honest I feel bad about the new 'artists' using autotune, thinking it's better, modern, it's the trend . It's pretty easy to make money with so less effort compared to the past know songs artists isn't it. So sad a lot of people actually like that, they can't appreciate how hard and how more realistic, dedicated it actually was to make good music before. Everything related to good music fell long time ago. My opinion guys ✌️

Excuse me for adding another comment, but I wanted to tell you this. You have a very kind and gentle manner of giving a critique. It leaves no doubt about your respect for the artist. This quality also probably makes you a great teacher, full of positivity and encouragement. There have been a few other seemingly reputable vocal coaches on youtube who have given very snotty, arrogant-sounding critiques of Dimash. They give the strong impression of having a desire to knock him down in order to make themselves feel more secure. In my experience, the vocal coaches that have gotten all the backlash from Dimash's fans have mostly earned it with their attitudes, not necessarily for their opinions. Now that I've read the comments left on this video, I'm really happy to see that your opinions are so well received. You've earned that respect.

Wonderful vocal analysis. Thank you, Mr. Ken.
As I know, this pop song is very popular among Chinese fans. If we take into account that in China Dimash has an impressive fan base of young people, then he as well as many talented young performers in any way have to perform different repertoire (pop songs, dynamic dance hits, soft melodic songs, etc.) In my opinion, this artist certainly more open all his creative potential in the genre of classical crossover. But he also has a lot of melodic, soft, emotional songs with deep story... where he does not brag and does not show his vocal skills. For any artist, it is first of all important to convey a certain story, to share his emotions and experiences, as well as to transfer the viewer to another dimension ✨

Dimash used autotune for this cuz the music label he was signed with in china after that competition wanted to push him to make pop songs, but I'm glad that now he isn't signed with them anymore and is making his type of music again. Mr. Afnan...This song was written by a Western guy( He wrote songs to Hollywood Singers, I forgot his name ) who wanted a COLLAB with Dimash. With this MV, DIMASH was on board in creating it, he doesn't just set down there, a kind of guy that he is HANDS-ON in his CREATIVE WORKS, even during the SINGER, that's why the Producers and the people working on that show was amazed because at a YOUNG age HE KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS.
YOUR SAYING THAT HIS AGENT IN CHINA PUSHED HIM TO DO POP NOPE. SO SOME POLITICS IN HERE BECAUSE IT'S CHINA. WHAT'S WRONG IF HE DOES SOME POP, I WOULD SAY IT'S GOOD FOR HIM BECAUSE HE WANTED TO EXPAND HIS ARTISTRY IN AMERICA. DIMASH WAS NOT A PUSHOVER GUY, HE IS A STUBBORN and TENACIOUS WHO KNOWS HIS OWN CAPABILITIES AND WANTS THAT CANNOT BE DICTATED BY ANYBODY, YEAH.
      DON'T UNDERESTIMATE HIS INTELLIGENCE, OK.
HE SIGNED FOR AN AMERICAN AGENT. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE KIND OF GENRE THEY GONNA OFFER HIM, TO THINK AMERICA IS DOMINATED BY POP AND COUNTRY MUSIC. EVEN K-POP WAS DOMINATED IN AMERICA.
I will say this Dimash will do some POP don't be NAIVE that he will not.
      DON'T BE ONE SIDED OK.

But not because he can’t sing the material but I believe that in between certain Russian tv events where they commonly use lip syncing for everyone, and between how often he performs, (he has to preserve his voice at a young age where it could be damaged), it’s had to have happened at least a few times. Especially ogni Pietra a few performances sound identifical to me that doesn’t mean always lip syncs it or can’t sing it live or even that he necessarily wants to lip sync but he isn’t the only one who gets to make these choices.

There is an up side to modern technology as sound engineers can fix a very heartfelt deep emotional take of a song in a studio but with minor and few pitch flaws and fix it with auto-tune or preferably Melodyne rather than waste so much more time in the studio to look for another such deep emotional take that is pitch perfect which more often than not is very hard to get.....often that deeply emotional take is a gift from up above or rather kinda flukey that is a one off great emotional take and comes with some or a few pitchy notes that these days are fixable. Moral of the story......modern technology is great if used wisely!

Yeah, the highlight of this song is the back third. As a Dimash fan I honestly don't mind him attempting pop genre. Or any genre. If he is a box of chocolates, he is still the chocolate that I'd eat. But as great as Igor has been for Dimash, he would need another pop composer genius that could actually put his talents to proper use for such a genre. Same goes if he goes into rock. Across Endless Dimensions gives us a slight glimpse of that.

I agree that Dimash needs to step away from Igor. They had a great relationship, and Dimash got to tour a bit, especially Russia, but Dimash needs to find his own niche. Your Love is possibly the worst arrangements ever created for Dimash. Constant key changes didn't make up for the repetitiveness in my opinion. I prefer to see his performances "evolve", ever-changing and building to a beautiful climax. Love is Like a Dream and Sinful Passion are good examples of that.

I agree with this song not being in the level of Dimash, but it's still pretty decent. "Passione" is an all-round amazing song with great content and RIDICULOUS vocals.

This is the song that Dimash sings at the end of his Arnau tour concerts, he sings it (without autotune, and after a 3 hours concert, with incredible performances!) while jumping through the crowd and people really enjoy it! This song allows Dimash to have fun and be very close to her audience! So, to be honest, yeah I really like it!

I agree with you about the song, this one is a pretty average pop song. The arrangment is not the best either, and also a bit faster pace would have suited it better in my opinion. Buuut... I just LOVE the video, it's visuals are beautiful; and Dimash vocals are fantastic. You're right again, a flat song suddenly takes on another dimension when he goes "all Dimash"... and man, those "staccato" instrument-like vocals near the end always get me.
Anyway, this is not the only average pop song he does, we have to take into account that Dimash is, and will remain, mainly a live artist. And all those songs have a purpose in a 3 hours live concert. This one, he uses it to close his shows and share with the audience, a catchy chorus that can be repeated on and on, while he shakes hands with people. Another average pop song, "Give me your love" (he wrote this one), he uses it to dance with a team of dancers, have fun, and make the audience have a good time. The choreography, the vocal arrangement, and sometimes also the instrumental arrangement, varies from show to show.
Thank you for your analysis, as always, very informative (and formative!)

Perhaps for analysis it was necessary to choose not a studio, but a live concert version of this song. The best choice would be the "Idol Hits" version. There is no opera backing vocals by Dimash, with which he decorated this version of the song, but there are other interesting "tricks"

I agree with what you are sharing, Ken. I believe in this particular song, Dimash is giving himself a chance to be diversified in different genre other than classical. He might want to add some 'colors' and show a different side of him instead of being the 'typical' Dimash. And personally, i think, he might be 'struggling' to fit into the ideas of pop dimension that these production team created for him. Which kinda explain why until today, he didn't want to sign up or tied with any major label. He wants to control his own music where he is free to be himself :)

You got this one right, Mr. Tamplin! But let me say this... I've seen a couple of "reactors" who actually got to know Dimash through this song as they're not the usual kind of guys who'd react to him. But, as you said, his backup vocals got their attention and they ended up making more and more reactions on his performances and they ended up becoming real "dears". So, maybe to us who got used to his AMAZING performances prior to this one, it may seem like a little too under Dimash's talent but hey, it seems to be working pretty well for reaching other type of audiences. I liked your analysis. Cheers!

This is a generic catchy song with simple English words and a chorus that an audience in any country can sing along with. Dimash has been using it to end his concerts and it works well for him for that purpose. It's weak lyrically but has the germ of something that could make it on the radio in the USA. These days it is the producer that makes a song a hit more than the lyrics or melody. Vocal skill is pretty much in last place and it's hard to make a radio-friendly song that actually uses even a fraction of what Dimash's voice can do. The arrangement chosen for this song actually allows Dimash to show off while keeping within the boundary of what is expected and that fits with the context of the song. Dimash has not been able to work out a deal with a USA producer who would help him to hit "big" over here.

I totally agree with you, in this song I see Dimash having fun, trying something different to see what it's like to do a "Pop" song, I don't take it seriously as I know Dimash is far more intensive in his productions from start to finish, I enjoy his athletic vocals and to me this was a pause and just for fun moment and I'm okay with that, it's also a fun song for audience participation at the end of his shows, thanks for reviewing I always appreciate your interpretation.

His team is from China and he sings this song live in NY concert. It’s his finale song and he goes out to the crowd. I think he plays the piano and drums on the MV. On his cd. They actually did a remix to this song in like an EDM beat. I don’t care for it. The single is this verse. Never thought of auto tune but I know you know a lot of the recording industry. I’ve noticed since the the pandemic Dimash is working on a Kazakhstan album and hid newest song is just emotional. No vocal acrobats. Really touching.
