- Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will unveil a $50,000 tax deduction for new small businesses in New Hampshire today as she works to win over independent voters and Republicans skeptical of former President Donald Trump. The vice president will announce the plan in North Hampton, New Hampshire, as a measure to stimulate economic growth, a campaign official said. Small businesses are major employers and have created 70% of net new U.S. jobs since 2019, according to government data.

Remember Biden’s stimulus package in 2021? No republicans wanted it but it go through and in the end they try to take credit for the multiple jobs it created and how it actually helped Americans who were struggling.

It's a good idea to help small business instead of the monster businesses
When we think of “the good ol’ days,” the world of the 50s-80s (yes, I know they weren’t all good), one of the things I remember best were small businesses. “Johnson’s Drug” or whatever vs “CVS.” A local toy shop, a pizza guy you KNEW, etc.
I’d like to see more of that in the U.S. again.

That plan needs strong language that prevents small businesses developed using those funds from being gobbled up by big business as soon as they are successful. We can't just provide risk-free development that ends up as part of the monopolies.
True. That goes for the bank/developer monopolies during any housing reforms as well. They need to remove the restrictions on smaller homes and let people build what they want with less permit fees for one thing. Permits alone cost $10,000-15,000 around here when you build a new house. Developers get breaks promising they will build low income units, then put maybe two in a hundred unit development. Nobody seems to check. Even senator Mitch's wife ripped those kinds of programs off and got by with it.

Great speech by Kamala Harris. Harris's plans for helping small business get started are sound and will help stimulate economic growth and jobs in the US. While Kamala's proposed $50,000 initial tax deduction for small businesses will initially reduce US tax proceeds, in the long run, the increased number and economic activity of small businesses will pay off by also reducing the US federal deficit and debit. Good plan!

@@tomtorrell8019 I think Harris's proposal is a better plan for increasing jobs and small Businesses than giving a tax cut to billionaires, as Trump has proposed. Lets see what the professional economists say about it. Your may be right about Congress. For the last several years, the vast majority of Republicans have been largely voting down anything Democrats have proposed even if it was good for the people and country. Just look at the Infrastructure bill that most Republicans opposed, but they all want to take credit for the infrastructure projects being completed. So we also need to elect Democratic Representatives and Senators that will support this effort to increase small businesses.
25 MILLION new small businesses in the first year? How many small businesses exist right now? I love the focus and priority. That number just seems crazy high.
Google is saying 33m small businesses TOTAL right now. Almost doubling that seems like an unnecessarily huge reach. To add 25m businesses, you need that many people (at least, if each was only founded by one person) WANTING to start a new business. That is over 13% of the population (over 25% if every business was founded by a partnership or larger team). Is this remotely realistic?
Yes but out of those 25m not a lot not profitable or its a side business. This tax credit with give them boost to build a good foundation
@@Leo-uy4qv I should say, I am all for these incentives and believe in this sort of govt investment. I am voting blue and VERY MUCH want to see her win. (Please God, let her win!) I just found that number to be crazy high. I am curious how many more people than currently have the ability to launch a new business this year would want to if given these incentives? My guess would a few million at most. That’s why I was surprised that it was pitched at such a high number.
She said, "first term", not first year. Term means over 4 years. And she did say it was ambitious plan, not a guarantee. But I will agree, it does seem high but you never know. There are a lot of people out there making a living on the"gig" economy. This help to expand those 'gigs' into a small business helping to stabilize it as business. Probably 'influencers" too.....actually some media influencers actually have multiple employees right now as part of their media program.

If everyone is doing ok, why they paid (4) 8 million of tax money for each of homeless and low income housing in my area only. A bag of groceries cost me $400. I was in smart and final, the customer in front of me, paid 158 worth of groceries using EBT card. When the cashier asked for extra 10 dollars, she threw the money and left while laughing. So over the last 4 years prices more than doubled. $18.50 for big Mac. $400 for bag of groceries. $4.80 for gas. $7.99 for pound of ground beef. 880k jobs created revised down. $18 per hour job is not employment. 40k for basic Honda. 80k for basic tesla. Banks don't give loans to 60k per year wages. Interest is all time high. Eating out is minimum 50 per two persons no drinks.
Just cut the tax to a flat 10% for everyone making over 50 k per year including billionaires. There i fixed it .
