I agree with you Walt on the X6100. I'm still using mine for mobile operation in my vehicles. I have the XPA125 but ditched it for a Micro PA50. It keeps things compact. I just run the X6100 at low power and use a tiny digital-auto tuner (with built in battery) to keep the SWR in check. Amp puts out around 20-30 watts, in my setup. The best part of this setup is no messing with ACC/PTT cables either. Both (tuner and amp) have auto band sensing.

Walt..I throughly enjoy your videos' agree with you that Icom and Yaesu..Kenwood have missed by not going to 20w..or qrp. I would pay to have the 6100 upgraded to 20w..Anyway to those that think you got a deal with a free radio..lets look at the time you spent and the equipment and dedication to putting out these great and informative videos..a free radio is minor compared to all you time . Anyway 73 and all the best to you and yours.

I have a Elecraft KX3 & KXPA100 amp combo I run for my activations all the time. Like the G90 it’ll tune anything you can throw at it whether being just the KX3 or the combo, both have Elecraft’s internal tuner in them. Both can tune up to a 10:1 SWR.

The only G 90 tuner issue I have had is a result of using an indoor attic, a G5RV short with counterpoise wires, 450 ohm ladder line and 25 feet of coax. Certain frequencies take a little longer. That said I have been able to get a lower (2.1) match on 160 meters which I find incredible.

G100 is a great idea, i would get one. Right now im on travel in Hawaii with the G90. I can receive everything from Asia to USA, but i cannot get a contact if i try. I have the XPA125 amp but it to much to travel with. If you did an HF net, when I at my QTH I would get on. Thanks for everything Walt

I would really love to hear a review of the Wolf RS998 transceiver from you. I think it might be the "g100" that you're looking for 🙂

Walt, I love this channel and always look forward to your new posts. I have been eyeing the G90 for a long time. I have rarely read anything on any channel that was seriously negative about it. But when I find something negative it is always the complaint that nobody services it. You have to spend hundreds in shipping charges to send it back to China. Has this been a negative for anyone? Maybe I am being too nit-picky on this. Does anyone have G90 repair issues?

I’ve been a G90 guy for 3 years and I’ve never heard of any issues. I do believe if you purchase it from Radioddity you have the advantage of an American based seller, warranty and repair option

Two month waitlist? Lol, try the qrplabs radios waitlist. I waited 8 months fir my QDX. Though I'm a mostly datamode operator so...
I would love to have an all band, all mode G90. That or an actual IC-705 competitor. No, the x6100 and 6200 don't count since they're not all band.

Couldn’t catch the live today, enjoyed the replay. Sorry you lost some subscribers due to running 11 meters, but truly it is their loss. Have a good night, 73.

    I’d buy a G100 in a second, probably 2.

Another fun video. If it wasn’t for 11 meters, I probably wouldn’t have become a ham.

I would love to see somebody make a Yaesu FT DX-991A, so, like a shack in a box, but make it 100 watts and an SDR hybrid!
That would be awesome! All of the radios like this are QRP rigs, or like the 991A itself, are traditional heterodyne models.
