Amazing no one has mentioned the creators of this masterpiece. Composer brothers Richard M. Sherman and Robert Sherman; and artists Phil Harris, Sterling Holloway, Louis Prima, George Bruns (underscore), Sebastian Cabot, Darleen Carr, J. Pat O'Malley... A little credit ... a little gratitude ... a moment's thought to those who brought it to you.
Np :) The beautiful instrument is used in many of the classic Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. It always sounded so unique, I was really drawn to it as a kid... the sound was beyond beautiful. That's why I always recognize it so quickly :p For me that's Disney. The soothing atmosphere and matching, reassuring music in the background. So enchantingy. :)
And yes it reminds me of Kaa too... xD When I heard it the first time I thought of slithery sneaking snakes in the desert, dancing to a oboe melody like this, played by some Arabian/Indian street musician. lol.
It's an Alto I believe. But, what's really cool is this is the same flute, and player, that you hear in Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland :) My mom knows the current owner of this flute and has actually gotten to play it for a recording she was making my grandma. It was really neat to see and hear a piece of musical Disney history :D It's in amazing condition and sounds just as amazing as it did when this was recorded.
This composition is incredibly kitschy. Nonetheless I enjoy it and consider it a piece of art in its own right. There's something very subtle about it.
I love this track. so mysterious, so beautiful, and yet so fun and lighthearted at the same time.
absolutely stunning musical score for this film

You wrote this 6 years ago and no acknowledgement? You speak the truth though.
Thank you!! I was searching for this info
One of the great film theme I ever heard. It catch the essence of the jungle, the mistery, the fear. Very good.
I love the primitive instrumentation... Sounds a bit like Stravinsky's, 'Rite of Spring'
My favorite piece of instrumental Disney music! I love the subtly rich sensuality of the piece.
An essential part of the movie's success. This music immediately sucks you right into the story. Superb!
This music puts me in a mood I haven't experienced since childhood.
I love this movie
2:10 Wow... I find myself lost in an ancient jungle in India. Magical. Disney's composers are geniuses.
0:00-0:05 “Distributed by Buena Vista Distribution Co., Inc.”
0:31 Always my favorite part.
It's very effective how George Bruns brings it down and makes it simple.
Goose bumps....
absolute masterpiece that gives me chills every time I hear it.
2:31 "Many strange legends are told these jungles of India, but none so strange as the story of a small boy, named Mowgli."
I love this song and the movie! The Overture is my favorite song on the soundtrack!
really master composition which let anybody dive into the jungle...
Real music. Talk about a well crafted theme..may be the best. Thanks Diz!
This is my childhood
1:10 best and most beautiful part
I was so happy when I heard this song in the new movie.
when it started the film and the music began , I have come the thrill thrills
When I saw the movie on VHS all those years ago, I thought 0:05 was the actual intro of the song.
Because on vhs they cut the beginning. It just stats with 0:05
0:31
And 2:22
They sound like something from Incredibles, no?
Whenever I hear the phrase gorgeous strings, I think of 1:11 - 1:31.
I know, right?
Am I the only one who is instantly reminded of Kaa when the clarinet starts playing? It sounds like Trust in Me. :D
*when the oboe starts playing
Silver17S Thanks, I wasn't sure of the instrument! xD

I like the bass flute. I think it's a bass flute anyway.

@@parrottmedia it's a bass flute, an alto can't reach that low!
@@parrottmedia if this is true, that’s incredible. What an infamous flute
I remember this song.
I just realized this reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean queue music.
I Missed Robin Williams and Marcia Wallace!
The NTSC ones are always the best. When the music is pitched higher in PAL and other regions, it becomes crappy.
This is cool
George Bruns wrote this.
that's a good man.😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😱😱😱😱
this is a bit psychedelic
+calmblast Well, the film was made in the '60s. XD

Do you know which song plays after he says, "man, that's what I call a swinging party" and then it shows the moon. That song?
the opening fanfare of this overture is sorta similar to donkey kong country's opening fanfare, no?
Seven years later, yeah! I'd say the Rareware intro was inspired by this piece.
Omg! I just noticed that too!
