  • An illegal e-waste recycling facility hidden within a palm oil plantation in Tikam Batu has been extracting over RM10 million worth of precious metals monthly, causing severe environmental damage.
Authorities raided the 160,000 sq ft facility run by local and Chinese nationals exploiting Bangladeshi labour workers.
A detained Chinese employee claimed the facility rakes in over RM100 million annually.
Documents revealed transactions with various companies selling industrial waste and purchasing extracted metals.
Over 350 metric tonnes of e-waste were seized during the raid, and nine Bangladeshi workers and one Chinese national were detained for immigration offenses.
