You need to pay for the sim card bill every month while it rarely in use, bcs fire even not likely to happen too often, or maybe never happen at least for me. Such a waste. Better using Arduino or Esp32 board and use home wifi to make a communication. At least you pay for the wifi internet that also usable for everything else.
You will need to make sure the micro controller and wifi will be still running when the smoke occurs but that will not be the case when the fire is caused by any electrical default

С подключением к интернету, через смартфон довольно большой функционал, но цена порядка 200$. Так что не стоит заниматься ерундой, тем более указанное "устройство" тоже стоит денег.
Суть в том что этот человек с техникой на ты и реально разбирается, а не просто магазинная потреблядь без увлечений и мозгов А указанное устройство за копейки собрано

i love the idea but integration would need wifi in much of north america. not too many old cell phones on the 2g - 3g band , not too few either and a full chonky cellphone doesn't fit so well into a smoke detector enclosure.
