@lockdoc854 There is a guy at the PA rendezvous every year with some for sale. Usually $20 ea. I know I am going to own a couple more this coming year. They are the perfect size
@MarksTrappingandOutdoors Thanks for watching and your support. It was a fun day for sure. I wish you the best of luck on your line!! Tight Chains brother!!
Very nice video that you record what you’re seeing rather than us looking at your face! I’m an absolute lover of the blind trail set for cats & coyotes, bare ground or snow. I’ve had good luck with hay sets here but I make them hourglass shaped with 2 traps but I like your loaf of bread shape and can see why they work. When they work in PA, they’ll work in MI.
@SeldomFales Thank you sir, blind setting is one of my favorite ways to connect on critters. There telling you were there walking, it's just a matter of them placing there foot on that 2x2 pan! Appreciate you watching and commenting. Happy new year!
@MarkJLarsonOutdoors Thanks Mark. I definitely think hayset are better for foxes but I always pick up a few coyotes in them. Appreciate all your support, and wish you a Merry Christmas!
@andrewruble7706 Thanks Andy, having a blast during our little break in work!! Appreciate your support and commenting. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Just found your channel, immediately subscribed! I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and always wanted to get into trapping. It was really hard trying to find someone to mentor me, so I never did. Time to binge your videos!
@bmilla35 Well I really appreciate you subscribing and commenting. Never to late to learn trapping. Back in the day everyone was tight lipped and didn't want to give up any knowledge. Times have changed and there is alot of great knowledge floating around out there. Just got to weed out the good from the bad. Again, I thank you for your support and watching and commenting. Merry Christmas!
@Crittergitteroutdoors Absolutely!! See how you make out. Would be curious to see if you get good results with them. They are definitely a better fox sets than coyote but most coyotes can't resist coming over to check them out. Appreciate you watching and support. Please keep in touch, Would love to here how you do
@buckmales1865 Very rarely do they bother my sets. Every once in a while one will get snapped off at a hay sets, but that's because of the urine. Most people think they will eat the hay, but they don't. Again if I have a deer snaps and it usually only once a season on haysets, it's because of the urine. They don't bother it again once they snap it off.
@@williamwaychoff8710I use Coyote, Redfox, and Bobcat pee, I typically use a gland lure of the 3 animals mentioned above or lures from TS Trapline, ringburner, pred sauce, and he has a few other very good lures. I also like Hoosier trapper supply lures. Vixen elixir, coyote carnage. My baited sets are almost all Wilson's wildlife solutions baits. Grave digger would be my #1, happy ending, stiff, and pipebomb. Hoosier trappers supply topdog would be another highly recommended bait that i have a ton of success on.
@randyclark2341 Man those are monster Toms!!! Congratulations on some huge cats!! Would love to catch one that big! My biggest is 30lbs. I am central PA also. Hopefully we can meet up some time!
My best season was 81 foxes. 60 of them were caught in hay sets. The last time I trapped foxes 3 years ago I had all 7 foxes caught in hay sets. The dirtholes caught nothing. Though 1 was dug out some and the trap had frozen in despite using waxed dirt. It had rained a few days earlier, then temps got down to like 20 degrees. 6 foxes were caught at same property, all in the hay set, within something like 2 weeks. I used trapper j all predator lure and fox pee. I collect from fox bladders and have a good bit still. Years ago I used rendered aged red fox butt gland lure someone gave me. That was super stuff.
@canislatrans8285 Thats some awesome numbers!! Also the percentage of other sets compared to haysets it crazy but not surprising. I really appreciate ypur support, and for watching! Merry Christmas!!
@@Keystonetrapper with all the rain and freeze thaw crap, hay sets shine. That year I got 81 was nuts, reds all over the place like crazy. I had 1 grey fox. A couple locations were marginal, but even the worst one I got 7 foxes. I had 2 locations yield 17 each. I was catching doubles left and right. I only had about 7 spots. I had an 8th come up late in season and all I caught was a possum. The people had issues with foxes, and I set on what looked like good locations, but nothing. It was in PA and if the mink season didn't go out so early, I may have caught one on the little creek running through the place if I set it. MD mink season runs to march 15 along with muskrat, beaver, otter, skunk, and raccoon. I think the 81 fox season was also the one i caught around 40 coons, a dozen or so beavers, 7 mink, some muskrats, and 2 otters. MD and PA. I lived by the state line and loved trapping so much I didn't mind the non res fee for PA.

@scotthackett4500 yes sraw will work. I prefer the stuff there barn floor because it's much finer and the stalks won't bring the swivels up like full length straw. Let me know how you make out with it. Appreciate you watching and your support.
Why the salt on the hay sets seeing the trap doesn't sit on the ground but the hay ?? Can you expand the reason. Congratulations on the bobcats and great season so far
@billc3405 Bill, I guess it's just the way I was taught. I was told that I don't want the hay sticking to the ground and with a light rain or freeze thaw the salt would keep it from doing that. I understand why your asking the question but unfortunately that's the only reason I can give you. I appreciate you watching and glad your enjoying!
@Keystonetrapper thank you for your reply I personally dislike salt as it draws moisture and once the temperature drops below 20 things will freeze up any way
@billc3405 Bill, i can't disagree with that statement at all because it definitely will draw moisture. Again, just what I was taught from a old timer. However I might try it without and see if I have any different results. If there the same results then I would agree not worth putting in the ground. Thanks
@moyeroutdooradventures3291 Thank you very much!! I appreciate you watching and supporting. I will have to get back with you on the chaps. I have had them a few season and there holding up well.
I had a camerman who had nevrr seen anything like that. He was a bit excited and never hit play. Checkout episode episode 12 of my big line. I left one go in the video on that episode. I use a catch pole, always try to get a foot in the loop when doing it and pin them down and let them go. Some trappers use ply wood, or plastic totes. The way you see me do it in episode 12 is how I let 30+ cats go and it works well. I appreciate you watching. Happy New Year!
Congrats on your bobcat. The hay sets look super easy to do, and you explained it perfectly. Thank you for sharing them.
I am glad it helped you out. If you put any out and connect on anything please shout out!! Glad to hear success of other trappers!! Merry Christmas!
