Very nice video that you record what you’re seeing rather than us looking at your face! I’m an absolute lover of the blind trail set for cats & coyotes, bare ground or snow. I’ve had good luck with hay sets here but I make them hourglass shaped with 2 traps but I like your loaf of bread shape and can see why they work. When they work in PA, they’ll work in MI.

My best season was 81 foxes. 60 of them were caught in hay sets. The last time I trapped foxes 3 years ago I had all 7 foxes caught in hay sets. The dirtholes caught nothing. Though 1 was dug out some and the trap had frozen in despite using waxed dirt. It had rained a few days earlier, then temps got down to like 20 degrees. 6 foxes were caught at same property, all in the hay set, within something like 2 weeks. I used trapper j all predator lure and fox pee. I collect from fox bladders and have a good bit still. Years ago I used rendered aged red fox butt gland lure someone gave me. That was super stuff.

@@Keystonetrapper with all the rain and freeze thaw crap, hay sets shine. That year I got 81 was nuts, reds all over the place like crazy. I had 1 grey fox. A couple locations were marginal, but even the worst one I got 7 foxes. I had 2 locations yield 17 each. I was catching doubles left and right. I only had about 7 spots. I had an 8th come up late in season and all I caught was a possum. The people had issues with foxes, and I set on what looked like good locations, but nothing. It was in PA and if the mink season didn't go out so early, I may have caught one on the little creek running through the place if I set it. MD mink season runs to march 15 along with muskrat, beaver, otter, skunk, and raccoon. I think the 81 fox season was also the one i caught around 40 coons, a dozen or so beavers, 7 mink, some muskrats, and 2 otters. MD and PA. I lived by the state line and loved trapping so much I didn't mind the non res fee for PA.

@@canislatrans8285 Awesome numbers, you have my respect for that! Thanks for your comment, it is nice to read. What a shame that the fur market is not what it used to be and that people are not so interested in wearing real fur anymore because of all the "animal rights" and such sh.t

@lukasbejcek8841 well, I got an order in to make a red fox hat for a raging liberal. She lived in FL something like 40 years, and now lives in MD. She is not used to the cold here lol, and knows how warm fur is vs anything else. I just have to only tell her the fox died of old age at the fox retirement home LOL, her words not mine. I had shown her my fisher hat I just made. I also know a vegan guy who had to start eating meat again due to poor health from being vegan for years. And there are hecklers at peta videos pointing out fake fur and microplastics, and how that kills more animals than real fur. There may be hope, be optimistic.

Was it hard to decide whether you harvest THOSE, or wait for even better ones, when you have just one chance? Did you dispatch them with your choke pole as usual, were they struggling not too much? I would never discourage someone from harvesting one, especially as long as it's legal and in season. They are such a wonderful creature and one of my favorite thing to target. And when I am looking at these two beautiful tomcats, I am glad you harvested them and I believe that you don´t regrett taking them! So, are the old ones always better than even big young ones? Or is a middle age the best? It must be a pleasure to skin and handle this gorgeous fur... It is really an unique fur in the fur industry, I admire bobcat fur coats, blankets and such things very much. Have you kept any bobcat pelts for you too for such projects or for mounts, wall hangers and so? What a pity you havent more tags, at least 2-3!

@buckmales1865 Very rarely do they bother my sets. Every once in a while one will get snapped off at a hay sets, but that's because of the urine. Most people think they will eat the hay, but they don't. Again if I have a deer snaps and it usually only once a season on haysets, it's because of the urine.
