and there will be at least one person trying to impose their radical stand on all of us. and that is where liberalism fails - the excessive tolerance towards fundamental views for humanity.
Wow! I actually liked Martin until I saw this speech. The world will be fooled by it because it's what they want to hear anyway. Are there any Christians on this post? His teachings were strictly humanistic.
Well, he's a very devout Catholic, but I suspect he kept his speech ecumenical on account that he wasn't just speaking to Christians nor was he delivering nor intending to deliver a strictly Christian message. The speech he gave can apply to people of all faiths, and to those without.
As an atheist, I believe this to be one of the best speeches I have ever listened. Even the religious bit about the gates of heaven resonated well, in the sense that asks us if we cannot find anything worth fighting for. Not getting your point of view, but would like to see your reply, so that I can understand it. with all honesty.
It's actually a terrible speech. The kids don't know what the hell he's talking about, but they've been bussed in and prepped by beady eyed educators and intuition tells them to cheer when grandpa stops to wheeze for breath. And the message? The unimportance of race or religion or nationhood or whatever - and yet the call to fight passionately for something unspecified. Democrats in waiting.
Actually I heard something very specific. He's calling for activism as an end for itself. An end to the torpor of my generation is an end worth giving a speech about. It was really good.
Fender, the call is for a world built above race, religion, nationhood. that was the point. That the world is nothing but a small village, and people's hopes and expectations are the same all over. It's a world that can exist despite race or religion, not because of it. Where difference is a contribution, not an obstacle. He uses statistics to show that a specific point of view, like the American perspective, neglects the reality of the Planet, made of such unbalances and inequality. Is a positive speech, you might just not have understood it for what he really meant. Honestly, listen to it again, from a positive perspective. It can really be uplifting.
"acting is what I do for a living...activism is what I do to stay alive" Me encanta esta frase.
Wow! Best speech I ever heard! What a great message! Hope everyone sees this!..
Thanks for posting!..
Yes. "We are not asked to do great things, we are asked to do all things with great care." Indeed.
Martin Sheen for President...

I feel so blessed to have actually met him this past weday in the Kitchener Auditorium, Such a humble individual
Watch West Wing. And then when you have finished season 7 watch this speech. It gives it so much more power
Whether you agree with him or not, this man COULD be president. And if the alternative is a man like Trump he SHOULD be president.
He has served 2 terms
This is by far my best speech
+Ronald Matovu I watch this, from time to time, to remind me what I am, and what I need to be.

The Illusive Man for president
Man who is an intellectual thief can never be a true activist. Last Lines lifted from Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali.
and there will be at least one person trying to impose their radical stand on all of us. and that is where liberalism fails - the excessive tolerance towards fundamental views for humanity.
This man is Jed Bartlett, I don’t care

So what? Catholic Christian here... And basically, starting with 8:00 he describes the Basileia Tou Theou...
@@florian8599 actually, after minute 8, he quotes Rabindranath Tagore's Where the mind is without Fear.
I’m Catholic. How can you disagree with a word he said?

But we got Trump,.....

You’re an idiot, Fender. Misplaced cynicism is no less foolish than misplaced optimism.
