I was at the second home game against the Habs last week. Incredible building. The concession stands are nuts. You scan your credit card to enter the marketplace and you just walk out with whatever you want. The cameras track what you purchase.
I sat up near the glass window about 6 rows from the top of the rafters and had an amazing seat/view.

I do like their color scheme, and the overall design of the building. I still get a collective eye roll of CLIMATE PLEDGE, the naming rights bought by a guy who wanted the PR but then went off and dumped tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere to joy ride into space for nothing more than bragging rights. Not to mention the concession menu and prices.

You must be one of those ppl who hears a name and thinks that the ppl "pledging" to make the arena carbon neutral aren't on their diesel yachts right now after using their private jets (Which use fossil fuel) to get to the fossil fuel yacht...Just like DiCaprio giving a speech on his charity and private island which he claimed would be used as a sustainable project to combat climate change...while posting pics on his fossil fuel yacht.

Here’s something that the photos in this video don’t show: there is an Eye. It’s projected through the windows onto some mesh screens on that side of the arena. A holographic giant Kraken eye. I only spotted it after the game when I was walking around that side of the arena (you can see the ice from outside!) and noticed the GIANT FREAKING EYE. Couldn’t see it from my seat inside, but when I went looking later, it was there. It hasn’t been mentioned or anything, it’s just there, like the entire arena is being held by the kraken and that’s its eye.

  • @yogurtpotstudios

I know I'm late to this video but I went to a game here in December and it's pretty cool. Those windows are actually at ground level so you can look into the arena from the sidewalk outside, granted there is a small garden thing slightly separating the window from the sidewalk so you can't see all the way down from the sidewalk. But thanks to the dual scoreclocks, there is one right in front of the window so you could watch a game through the window on the big screen and I think that's awesome. I've been to a few different NHL venues and CPA is unlike any of them.

I heard that where the Kraken enter the ice that you can pay big money to seat in club seats. There you can see the players come out to the ice. So that mirror is where you see the player. I think there is a lounge near. I hope Calgary will do that for their new arena.

Where the windows are, that’s ground level. They just kept digging down to create the arena. The venue was built as the Washington State Pavilion for the 1962 Seattle’s World’s Fair. In 1964, it was converted into the Seattle Center Coliseum. In the 90’s it was remodeled for the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA. As you know the Sonics were taken out of Seattle. Then when the NHL came, the venue was remodeled again into Its current form. Basically, it’s Seattle Center Coliseum v3.0.

Technically, they’re calling it a brand new arena. The only part original to the 60s is the skeleton of the roof, which includes the white concrete border, as well as the pieces the go to the center and look like green + from above, but were originally painted red. The rest of the roof is from 1995 when the Key opened. The venue was originally the Seattle Center Coliseum, and the court was at street level from 1964 to the early 90s, and the venue had a much smaller capacity of 13,000 for basketball, even less for hockey. The original roof had 4 quadrants that hung freely, and it started having leaking issues. When they dug downward in the center to create KeyArena, a basketball-only venue with more seats, they also replaced the hanging quadrants of the roof with rigid, leak-resistant replicas that were identical from the outside. The original skeleton of the roof remained. The venue, however, was not designed for hockey, and had not enough floor space to center a hockey rink with the seating bowl, so only half of the lower bowl was sold for the WHL team that played there for a short time. In 2019, there was another complete demolition under the roof. They started to dig further downward and out to the edges to make what is now Climate Pledge Arena. Basically, it has always looked the same on the outside, but it has been 3 distinctive venues, and the venue we call Climate Pledge Arena has components from all 3 venues.

I watched their home opener this past Saturday. The arena looked really nice and modern. The one thing that I thought was lack luster, was the pregame "ceremony". I was expending since they are a new "modern" team and have an amazing brand that they would go all out (like Vegas). This could have been because it was their first home game. I'll have to watch another game to see if the pregame is better.

I think the color scheme for the Kraken is a bit week...maybe not now, but as the novelty wears on us..The logo is to simple and it will also age poorly...Teams that I think have a worn logo and color scheme... My Bruins as well as Habs and ducks are bland need new logo and a infusion of a color or assorted colors..l Everything wrong with the b's is revenue drivin... the bruins organization if it takes money to make money it's not happening We've learned that year after year after year at the hands of the ownership.... Don't get me wrong there are teams with very simple color schemes and logos that can hold there own. The Red wings
