Interesting bit of trivia, Watchmen (the comic) was partially inspired by Akira (the manga), and Akira (the movie) was heavily influenced by Watchmen (the comic), especially the color palate. They even redesigned the outfit of the clown leader to be more like the comedian (as seen at 3:38 ). Conversely, Watchmen (the movie) was heavily influenced by Akira (the movie). It's almost like the two share a symbiotic relationship!
