Love them!!! Their "Going to Hell" album is my absolute favorite, but I love this song a lot. Her voice is so perfect for it

The album this comes from is arguably one of the best rock album in the last couple of years.
You are pretty spot on with your analysis, excellent job, the entire album is super dark when you know the backstory, but you tuned in on the underlying message instantly. They were touring with Soundgarden when Chris Cornell, who was one of her icons musically, took his life (literally played a show the same night), and a short time later their producer was killed in a motorcycle crash. (He was the one who got her into rock music, she was a child actress originally, have you seen The Grinch with Jim Carrey, that's her....) That made her spin down in a very dark and destructive place, so the entire album is pretty much a reflection on life, loss, trauma and finding a way to come back stronger.
I hadn't even picked up on the significance of the "breathing exercise" with 1,2,3... at the end before but yeah, that is what she's doing isn't it.
If you want something even darker go for "Got so High", with this song in mind it should probably be very clear that it's not a silly "let's get high and party" song...😢. Rock and roll heaven is a fantastic tribute to the musical legends that are no longer with us, and only love can save me now is made with the surviving members of Soundgarden. Finally "Death by rock and roll" is a kickass rock tune

A lot of people have pointed out that there are a ton of James Bond references in this song. She uses many of the titles "Die another day", etc. Also the seventh James Bond film (which she skipped, was the independently made "Never Say Never Again. Barrel of gun for Man with the Golden Gun, ... so many parallels' to the James Bond Films and of course you recognized that the song sounds like it could be a James Bond Movie Title Song. I would recommend "Take me Down" or "Death by Rock and Roll"

Taylor was 25 when she was touring with Soundgarden. As you know, Chris Cornell committed suicide. The Pretty Reckless were touring with them, and Chris passed after the last concert of the tour. Taylor was 25. This song had some depth.
By the way, Taylor's voice is awesome!! And we don't need the Grinch to tell us that. (Do you know the reference?)

Yes she had Bond in mind while writing this and she has also said that it is references to years of her life. So all of it is a double entendre. I'm subscribing in hopes of more The Pretty Reckless. Recommend "Only Love Can Save Me Now" feat. Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden. Best song on the best album in years if not ever. Lots to break down in the lyrics and the video.
Hi there, the seven was skipped as it has its own song, Turning Gold, also on this same album, DXRNR. At seven, Taylor had a very important step in her career as then the movie When The Grinch Stole Christmas came out, lifting her into stardom. Seven thus ia a very important age, getting its own song. Cheers.
