would adding aluminum heat sink help more sounds like a flaw in the design of the reg unit if its overheating or adding a small pc fan blowing over the unit which draws only negligible current to the system.

It is not the unit that is the problem it is the high voltage that goes through the wires and makes them hot when they are bunched together. And this simple fix cures that problem.

​@@TukTukPH Isn't this just 12 volts DC[16v max], what current does it carry 10 amps the most? from the alternator maybe thicker gauge wire of copper or are they using stranded aluminum wire of thinner gauge?

@@10OZDuster I am not sure about the exact current it deals with as electrics have never been my strong point. I do agree that maybe it would be better with a thicker wire.
