I have listened to Bob Dylan's original version a million times (literally), sometimes 20 times on repeat in a row, and never tired of it. A masterpiece in every sense of the word, lyrically, musically, and in execution. These performers really did it justice. Bravo!
I love how impactful his voice is while stilling being soft and subtle. So much potential waiting to be unharnessed. I really hope they have rush tickets for GFNC. I loved Colton Ryan on Alice By Heart OCR and would love to seem him live on stage.
I went to see this show last night on the UK tour. It's a brilliant show. Not like your typical musical where the music drives the story, instead the music is used to emphasise the emotions of the various characters. Bob Dylan requested this show be made, and that his lyrics be used. He gave the producers free rain to use them however they wished. It really is a theatrical masterpiece of a show.
Hey steve! I’m doing a scene from this play tomorrow, i haven’t seen the play before so I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know a little bit more about Kate and Gene and their relationship together and what happened to break them up? Thank you.
@@m7mdgh544 it didn't touch much on their relationship, with this show you have to read between the lines alot. From what I took from it was Kate wanted Gene to give her a reason to stay, ie get a job, stop drinking. Due to the sheer hopelessness of the times, Gene just couldn't see a way out and just couldn't change. Writing and drinking were his only comfort, for that reason Kate found a job and left the town. This is where the song "I want you" comes into which is their last interactions, there is a fondness for each other on both parts, but it just can't work.
@@stevej8037 hey steve thank you for responding! Regarding their last interaction, i’ll be acting this scene out soon, so just curious to know, was he by any chance still trying to win her back or did he just gave in during the interaction?
I’ve always said that nobody has done a better version of Dylan’s stuff than Dylan himself. But we’ve seen some really remarkable covers…from Jimi, Joan and others.
It was Dylan who approached playwright Conor McPherson to ask if he might be interested in doing this project - not the other way round. That's a measure of a man - a colossus.
What amazes me is that singers like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, cant sing for toffee nuts, and yet their beautiful melodies and lyrics and melodies sung by people with good voices are truly spectacular

A song about infidelity. Queen of spades and chamber maids - wife. Edie Sedwick (the “you”) and Warhol (dancing child in his Chinese suit) who took her for a ride.
nothing againts you. I like your cover, but why is it, these days, so modern to slow everything down, and thus give it such a sad vibe? if is it deliberate, why to give it such sad mood. Why dont you try it speed it up? pepper up? Not everything slow is emotional. well anyway, I hope u are doing well and go for it.
sorry not for me ,Dylans original cannot be topped and I so wanted to like it but. I like the idea of peoples interpretation of Dylan's classic songs but this leaves me flat....guess no one sings Dylan quite like Dylan
We really get to see the greatness of Bob Dylan's songs when they are sung by someone else. exquisite version here.
The longing of heartache that comes through in Dylan’s lyrics when performed as a duo especially by these two. Stunning.
Yes, stunning.
God Colton’s voice is just,,, so good??
Saw the London production. Been a Dylan fan since ‘60s. This rendition brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful.
The way he looks at her!!!! Damn, Im melting!
Spectacular interpretation. (And this is why Dylan has a Nobel.)
Thank you Little Voice for giving me Colton Ryan 💚
Watch Alice by heart$
Also, he also did Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway

cait’s voice is so ethereal and effortless.. so excited to see her in a role that’s such a complete departure from dawn.

Most Beautiful version ever simply the best. Chills up and down my back. These 2 were born too sing together.
Dylan fits history through the needle's eye of the self
Aaah such an achingly beautiful performance
This is so beautifully done.
i don't have the words. Just amazing!
This song was meant to be at this pace, so as to feel the words. Amazing version!
I saw this in previews last February & still get goosebumps. It breaks my heart that they had to shut Broadway down.

@@m7mdgh544 no he didn't try. Their interaction in the show was limited to this one song.
I agree. Saw the show in London. Mesmerised, absolutely wonderful.
Bravo, Colton & Caitlin ! (And you did good too, Dylan!)
usually everyone who is not dylan makes less of the song. this is a worthy rendition, very nice and meaningful and true.
Goosebumps!

Fabulous! Thank you!
Not partial to Dylan covers. But so exquisite. The Appalachian beauty of the femme singer. So pristine.
Just beautiful.....
I love you Colton
I love the way conor arranged Bob Dylans music
Got all my hair to stand on end.. fantastic version
I’m jus here for Colton ❤️🔥
Killing it!!

How intriguing. The girl has a distinctly Appalachian look and beauty.
Timeless
I LOVE YOU COLTON 💗

Como as músicas de Bob Dylan fazem bem para o espírito, cantadas por ele ou por pessoas diferentes.
Dylan é poesia, profundidade em suas letras...
Both are wonderful.
But Colton can be my boyfriend.....
Springsteen also does a great slow version live 1975 from the The Mainpoint .....
facial expressions are they planned can you hide behind a smile tears of sorrow glaze your eyes does your body respond have we every been here before a strange place down in alabama
I still want you.......

he really wants her so bad he's not just singing it
What can I add?
come on jungsters,more life
Are there any up-tempo versions in this? Looks like the most dreary show.
A song about infidelity. Queen of spades and chamber maids - wife. Edie Sedwick (the “you”) and Warhol (dancing child in his Chinese suit) who took her for a ride.
Whoah!

apart from hendrix...
Luckily they're not trying to top Bob's songs, they're just using them to frame the play.
@@alasdair_h Not even
Dylan thinks they are amazing
@@Dionysos640 I have never heard ONE COVER of a Dylan song that outmatched his original. Not ONE.
Painfully self-conscious performance.
Oh my gosh it's so wrong, they completely missed the point. It's not what this song is about. Very weak pop cover made to get the broad public.
This dude sounds like Kermit the frog. And not in a good way
What do you mean
He does not!
Dreadful!
