I completely agree, but what about public toilets? It was saddening to see the Sanifair takeover when I visited last year. As a male, I would happily pay 0,50€ to use a urinal if I knew the money were going directly towards city employees and services rather than a for-profit German corporation. Even better would be to make them free for all, but I can understand the expense of this in a city that already provides so many excellent public services.
