Best Wargame I've played on the ECW. Looking forward to "this war without an enemie". Tip before playing, buy some red and blue transparent plastic tokens and throw away the cardboard influence/control markers. Makes it infinitely easier to find locations quickly and read the map faster. Also sleeve the cards ASAP as they're quite thin!
Great review Alexander. I have this game in my collection, shrink wrapped and the mounted board. I haven’t gotten to this period in history in my reading program.
I really like the covers for the rule books. I shouldn't like it as much as I do, but little touches like that really make me happy. That map configuration is beautiful but odd though.
The little touches elevate the product, in my opinion. Target for Tonight was the same way. Anytime they can tie things together with theme and artwork it just shows an added level of thought and care that was taken.
@@ThePlayersAid GMT has a history of being really good with the little things as well as the big things- I really like so many of their games for this sort of thing.
I have this game on my shelf. Got it in a math trade many years ago. Haven't really put it out on the table yet. Would be interesting to see you guys play it and see what you think. Not sure if you guys are into the Mexican War but if so, Halls of Montezuma has promise especially with the rewritten rules (since the original is a hot mess)
Cool looking game. But hate, hate, hate, hate GMT 8 panel mounted maps, the format they use is terrible. My Twilight Struggle board STILL doesn't lay straight or flat and I have had that game for years. Don't know what janky method/printer they use because I have lots of other games with 8 panel boards that lay flat right out of the box.

Best Civil Wargame it covers the whole war vary well. And its what if cards keep it fresh.

I like English Civil War but this is too complicated for me, will stick with Cruel Necessity.
It’s quite complicated. 7 is fair.

Fyi, 2nd printing version on GMT says mounted map is now included.
FIRST!
