I never watched Popular MMOs, so if their content really was amazing, I wouldn't know. However, I feel like their whole breakup thing was blown out of proportion, and their audience is terribly parasocial. I don’t understand how an audience could be that level of invested in a content creator's relationships.

My only explanation is that their audience might berate them constantly with, “Where did___go?” “Why don’t you upload with___anymore?” “Are y’all and___no longer friends?” So they probably felt that if they just cleared it out immediately they would shut up about it. Some viewerbases do, others don’t and will constantly remind other people in the same viewerbase with their comments.
Of course these RUclipsrs can't ever resolve their conflicts in private 😂

I feel these disputes should be figured out in private… but every time a youtube couple posts a breakup video together… it’s like some terrible attempt to save face and slander the other person as much as possible in the same take.

I guess I'm old fashioned (or maybe just old in general), but I've never publicly exposed an ex about the how or why the relationship came to an end. It never felt necessary, and I never wanted to get people "on my side." I wished nothing but the best to them, and generally remained cordial, or even quite friendly, with most of my ex's. I'm not perfect, neither were they, and things didn't work out for one reason or another. End of story. Time to move on. Admittedly, I've never been a public persona, so that would complicate matters, but I certainly wouldn't want to damage someone's reputation over our private issues, even if I felt like I had been wronged.

There's really something about Pat and Jen's breakup that sets it apart from the others. Those are either corny, agonizing to watch, and makes them look like unlikable assholes. That's what makes those unwatchable. Pat and Jen's video is unwatchable not because of those reasons, but instead because of how painful it was for everyone that grew up with them.
I feel like the audience is just making it worse though. They broke up for a legit reason but the comments won't shut up wanting them back together like the bratty kid that doesn't like their mom's new bf.
