Sounds fabulous. Took the liberty of downloading the patches for the intro, loaded into Dexed as per the instructions, EQ'd, added verbs but even before the FX its got some really distracting overtones a minor third from the root that make it sound completely out of tune with the track and itself when playing a D! Had a play around in Dexed but, sadly, I'm a guitarist not a synth programmer. Not sure what's happening. Amazing work tho!
EDIT: . Hedge appreciates the kind words but he’s recovering from a shoulder surgery and can’t really help with anything detailed like this. Just see newer versions. I pinned a comment with more links.
@marmotman Thanks BTW I do have a clip of just Dexed versions, slightly different from the ones posted on FB (in Other): www.dropbox.com/sh/06gbbysp7su5s39/AADLBK2pjb00yy3nD7Bh9Gh7a?dl=0
I do miss actual aftertouch but only for specific things. Like pitch bending. Can lead to interesting inflections. As for controllers I use anything really. Mostly my Virus TI but it's too heavy to travel with. So I buy them for pretty much every country I go to. Picked up that novation launchkey MKII for about €150. Solid hardware and good (not to mention quiet) keyboard feel. Arturia stuff is okay too. I just don't like their infinite knobs (or infinite knobs in general). But yes, would recommend.
If you're looking for a cheap MIDI controller, I can recommend the M-AUDIO Code series. I got the Code 61 for some time now and I'm still happy with it.
@@TheWizzard29 thanks I am considering one of those. Although the arturia is tempting as it comes with analog lab. All the choices and slight variations in specs are doing my head in though :)
Well if this would help. Arturia can survive the beach lifestyle. One of the knob caps is missing from my 61-note version. But despite the high humidity and an occasional tropical rain during a performance... It’s fine. I even dropped it on concrete once. (Even some of my boards are more fragile. Especially bamboo top ones). Novation on the other hand survive rain and snow. But they are all what I would call ‘disposable controllers’. Reliable, inexpensive. You can definitely pick and choose. The one I really like for the keyboard feel. Is an A49. I know it doesn’t have that many knobs but the keys feel/Play like they did on my Roland AX-7. It’s even got the d-beam That’s the one I probably played the most. Picked it up at surf shop of all places…
The song is in 4/4 time, but some beats are skipped or implied in certain measures, creating a dynamic rhythm. Just a reminder, this channel focuses on synthesis and sound design, not music theory. Thanks!
It’s all good. I thought of a similar song. It turned out to be something else. Yes, commodore Amiga. A lot of early industrial stuff has that flavor. Almost like mod files. BTW It sounds like “The Bog” was mostly Waldorf Microwave with some samples thrown in.
@@habibi6458 I am working on another video but meanwhile here’s “The Bog” breakdown using PPG and Attack: drive.google.com/file/d/1jMONpTHCuB7fNR_gBksrZYH5Wb4uyoms/view?usp=sharing
See updated versions of the patches on FB: fb.watch/k8Qt97X3GD/

Love your DX & Synth videos. Would you recomend either of those midi controllers? Do you miss not having aftertouch on them?

Sweet you kill all the Dire Straits stuff, where are now? Some place with a beach and chiquitas?
I’m waiting this one out. Travel restrictions and the lock down on the coast is pretty bad. :-)
@@Hedge777 well cant wait until its lifted and we get some more beach shots...
Measures please?

Please,What is that sound at the 5 second mark and also 1:14? I have been looking for it for a long time but have No idea what to call it.
All sounds are on my Facebook page (pinned post). Including the Shakuhachi sample you’re asking about. Please have a look.
Can you please recreate ‘The Bog’ by Bigod20, it’s a mind blowing song to me and I think it would catch people’s attention.
Shouldn’t be too hard but I don’t know when I’ll get around to it man.
Hedge 777 I saw your original comment, what is an amiga? Video game?
