I’m part of the Vandegrift band and I just cannot stop listening to this every day and I’m looking forward to Marching this and players getting spotlighted!!
They sound faaaantastic, as usual. Aggressively technical, but also pretty evocative in parts, and already quite dynamic. Giant band, too. They'll slay this fall.
is no one going to mention the absolute NUMBERS this band has?!!! this is so incredible. they literally take up the entire court! I can't imagine how cool it would be to see them on the field or during a pep band game.
Wow… music book absolutely bursting to the brim with technical passages. It never relents. Such mature achievement already. Anyone know the source music? Not familiar myself but adoring the selections
mvt 2 is “breathless alleluia” by philip wilby boston crusaders (2018) and keller hs (2021) have also played this piece but vandy’s arrangement is more reminiscent of the original version compared to bac and keller
There are definitely some noticeable trombone heroics, but this is also a May performance. They only had the music for a couple days. In these situations, I always expect some of the stronger players to stick out. The overall impression is still outstanding.
