Now that I do, I feel tremendous shame for not doing better due diligence. Humans are visual creatures and ironically, this is exactly what happened in Germany, but much worse. Carpet bombing a people that already didn’t have much of anything in some areas, makes this so much more egregious. Not comparable in numbers and no ovens. Not minimizing one over the other. But, Nazis did this bet the late 30s and early 40s. And this event is almost 100 years later. Also, numbers are much less, but proportionally, we are talking about a population of roughly 2.4 million. So, that means that they’ve killed almost 15% of this population.
