Etsy SEO and XWalk- Does exact word order match matter?

I hear a lot of advice saying that having the exact word order is necessary to be on the first page of search results, but that's never been the case and it definitely isn't now!

Hi Kara, great video thanks! I have been selling print on demand t shirts for 4 months now. Finally last month one of my t shirts ranked and started selling one every other day. I had over 200 listings but recently deleted some. My method is I design 5 different t shirts for my main keyword, then on each design I have different SEO to see which one ranks. Sometimes I repeat words in my tags, sometimes I don't, sometimes I have multiple keyword titles or sometimes I just have my main keyword. I mix high competition keywords with low, sometimes just low competition. I have found and designed for keywords with 1000 searches a month and only 200 other results. But still I get NO views. I just don't understand why I am not getting any views. Only that one t shirt gets views. I have also filled out my About section, I use all ten photos and video, I offer free shipping, I have my policies filled out. I have read everything Etsy recommends and done it and still nothing. I just don't know what to do, am I missing something?
It sounds like you're way overthinking it. Just write the main keyword and fill in the title and tags with other relevant terms. You can't target specific keywords on Etsy because there's no telling what you'll get found for, so all of the planning about high and low competition and high and low searches is fairly pointless. Look at the one shit that gets views and see what keywords are being used to find it. That will give you actual data about what keywords Etsy thinks your listing is about. Then use that as a jumping-off spot to figure out more keywords. But don't waste your time trying to do titles and tags based on the search and competition, just put in relevant terms that will help Etsy categorize your shirts.

Just match one, but it's not as important as it used to be. The video basically says that, so match one to be on the safe side.
I appreciate your videos very much. My store has been on line for a few years, but I have only rec6understood more about it. I am spending way too much money on this. It is frustrating to have views but no sales. Stuff left in carts. Items favorited. Only 16 sales all these years!
Definitely stop spending money until you reassess what's going on and decide what you need to do differently!

It doesn't unless it's super competitive, but even then it's not required.
Those are related searches those aren’t their tags
They are the tags, Etsy started using tags for related searches like that a while ago. Go check your own tags on a listing and you’ll see that’s where Etsy is getting them from.
