I'm Canadian living in Baños 4 years. Loved your video, but sadly you gave the weather bad rap. Actually June/July are the 2 cold rainy months that everyone living here dreads. Please back come later in the year to enjoy the amazing mostly sunny weather. With a cool refreshing afternoon shower at times.
I am from Cuenca and I visited Baños last month after several years. The change is amazing. They have managed to create value with numerous attractions such as viewpoints, swings, striking buildings, etc. It is a beautiful place, full of nature. Baños is a highly recommended place!
Did Banos some years back. Hired a bicycle and visited Del Diablo waterfalls, did the cable car that takes you through a waterfall, watched the imposing Volcano Tunguruhua, amazing food, etc. Would definitely go there once again! Regards from Dubai
12:21 I just love how JP just says, "this is the stuff of nightmares" and the guide is just like, "Arriba!" 😆🤣 I'd say the exact same thing as JP, aha!
I'm surprised y'all haven't made it to Baños before now! Definitely one of the places I had planned on visiting but haven't the chance to. Love these videos of Ecuador...my favorite place,♥️
I booked a trip to Ecuador in late 2019, and then…FYI I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning and other than Amelia’s hair color you both look unchanged in appearance. Clearly the healthy lifestyle in Ecuador agrees with you. Bravo! ❤
WOW - what a difference between Banos and just about ANY city in Costa Rica ! On our last trip to CR, we were SHOCKED at how dirty the streets were ! The gutters were clogged with plastic bottles, soaked cartons, and assorted junk - causing frequent flooding during rainstorms. Ecuador seems a LOT more CLEAN than Costa Rica !
I'm with Amelia. I would NOT be on that glass deck looking at the height I was at. NO THANK YOU! Nor the swing. I HATE heights. But the views were so breath taking and you two are making me homesick for a place I've never been. ❤ I am saving every penny to get there. ✈I will be visiting the waterfall.
Great video! Definitely putting Baños on our itinerary for Ecuador. Although, like Amelia, I think I’ll skip the scary glass walkway and the giant swing. Thanks for taking one for the team, JP, and showing us the view from the glass walkway.
I have been living in Baños now for six months - lovely place to live and to visit. This was really nice to see all the places that I am familiar with.
When we visited Banos we got on one of the trams that was all lit up of lights and music, and they took us up to the top of a mountain where there was like a party place up there ! Food , music, drinks ,and a overview of the city below. Every tram had a name starting with Chivas ! Ours was called " THE CHIVA PREFIDIDA " . Two warnings !!! Dont lose site of where your tram is parking ! Because when its time to go you want to find your ride amoung the many trams And it gets really cold up there !
Guau!!! Amelia is speaking Spanish really great…. JP and Amelia you already have a low American accent when speaking in Spanish 👏👏👏👏. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us.
Was just there in March '23. The best part for me? The fresh-pressed sugar cane juice, with added lime. So good! Nowhere else in Ecuador did I find it. I arrived on a Sunday. Jam-packed with tourists, mostly daytrippers from Quito.
I am so glad you got to visit Baños, it's one of my favorite spots in my country. And I am super glad you are still living in Ecuador because I thought you've moved to another country.......!
I spent a few weeks in Ecuador a couple of years ago. On a trip from Cuenca to Quito I stopped in Banos for several days ... and I loved it! It had a great restaurant scene! I stayed at a very affordable hotel that billed itself as a boutique "Art" hotel and it was filled with sculptures, paintings and ceramics. It's a lively place, lots of young people, but just a wee bit touristy.
😂🤣 Amelia!!!!! Lol. My wife said no way to EVER doing that glass floor walk. Good on ya for getting out there JP!! Good stuff as always you two and thanks for adding another spot to check out in Ecuador. Looks amazing.
Banos was so beautiful. The market was amazing. We had a guide and a car that took us everywhere. That made it so easy for us to enjoy those incredible views. We also took that hike with the steps. None of the other adventures were available back then.
Baños is a wonderful place to visit and the Devils Cauldron is an absolute must. We visited them a couple years ago and loved it. I can’t wait to go back. Baños is the only town I’ve needed a jacket in Ecuador. It definitely gets chilly. Excellent video.
Traveling in Mexico years back I was amazed to see locals plowing way up toward the mountain tops. Actually, the volcanic soil is very rich, so it's worth the effort. Coffee is often grown and grows best in volcanic soil. That vision comes to me sometimes; it's something I just don't forget.
Awesome video! I’m an Ecuadorian expat in Spain. Just got the ticket to come back and do long tour!! Your videos are helpful! Glad u are learning to speak spaniish
Love your video and thank you for doing the footwork for others to follow. My favorite Ecuadorian tutors. Coming soon for sure. Thinking Vilcabamba is the place I ought to be.
The local thermal pools in town are great! The one downstairs is mega-hot and I love it. It seems painful at first. The trick is to cycle between the hot pool and the cold plunge and do a few minutes in each. I would do an hour cycle every day. And for only 4 dollars, it's a great deal. Also renting a bicycle and doing the waterfall route is alot of fun. You coast down the highway and stop at all the waterfalls. Then you hitch a ride on a truck to get back to Banos.
I was really glad to see this. It's beautiful! I swear I looked up Banos everyday almost for a year and it was ALWAYS ALWAYS cold and rainy. Much more so than Cuenca even though that entire year it was often downright cold in Cuenca and raining as well.
Definitely I recommend Baños to live or to spend pleasant moments. I had the opportunity to live for a year in this wonderful place and I had a wonderful time. I swang en LA CASA DEL ÁRBOL ( The Treehouse) but screaming. Thank you Amelia and JP for capture those wonderful views and sceneries. JP to AMELIA ¡VÁMONOS! loved it.
I really liked the nature views, the food, the rain, and the flat town. There were too many stairs for me ---- and... I don't think I could do those glass platforms or that swing!!
I'm afraid of heights too, so if I went out on that glass platform I would have wet myself! Making my favorite part of Baños, the rain, because no one would be able to see I peed my pants
Amelia and Jp , great video about Baños! I really enjoyed the city when I was there last year. CASCADA EL PAILÓN was great. But crossing that bridge was a little intimidating.
Hi. I have watched u so long I feel like we're pals. Thanks so much for Banos RUclips. Our close friend bought a house outside of town 7 years ago? We're heading for a visit. Ps Amelia u make me laugh so with your shopping. Thanks for doing all you do
After 5, month-long, exploratory trips and now 2 years in Ecuador, we’ve only spent a couple hours in Baños for lunch. Will have to plan a trip there at some point.
I visited Banos about 25 years ago and what impressed me was the steep valley it sets in and the volcano that’s there I think the town had to be evacuated after I was there, it could be the Ecuadorian Pompeii
That was delightful 😊 Thank you for posting. I already have a trip to Costa Rica planned in November, but I hope to visit Ecuador next year. Sending blessings and appreciation from Joanie 🐻 at Lake Tahoe
So NICE to see you guys out and about, scenery stuff is really my favorite. Heights scare me too, but flying no problem. I'm jealous of your massage price and hot tub experience. Cheers!
I have always been fascinated by Banos de Agua. They also have a couple of Spanish language schools there. Cool to get your car blessed with holy water:) Hmm, you said cost of living similar to Cuencas and Loja, but you had said Loja Airbnb's were half what Cuenca's was. Ach! I felt nauseous when you walked over the grate to the glass! Love waterfalls!
Hi JP & Amelia!! Great tour of Banos! I can't wait to try the food there. I see the weather forecast calls for very chilly and snowy weather. i guess it's winter time there now??
hey guys i want to go back to Ecuador but im still afraid a little bit of the criminals i want to visit montañita you are such nice people i wish you the best
The world is full of criminals. Some have guns. Some have corporations. Many are politicians. We can’t escape them anywhere. Just have to live our lives and hope for the best.
On the Waterfall Bike ride on inexpensive mountain Bikes ride down to the Amazona stop at a Trout farm, catch your lunch (and they Cook it). Catch a passing mountain bus to carry your Bikes for the ride back up to Banos!

Look at the family plan for a sawbuck for an entire year! Great program. I tried Duo Lingo but it gets repetitive and boring. Sorry DL.

It’s fun to see you two enjoying yourselves so much. 😊
We had a lot of fun on that trip!
We stayed in Baños for one month in March/April 2023 and we loved it! It was fun to see so many of the places we visited in your video.
Yes I spent 3 months in Baños in 1971,it was a tiny village with dirt roads really nothing like it is today,it was like walking into the old wild west
Wow! I bet that was interesting!
I could tell you some unbelievable stories from my stay there
Did Banos some years back. Hired a bicycle and visited Del Diablo waterfalls, did the cable car that takes you through a waterfall, watched the imposing Volcano Tunguruhua, amazing food, etc. Would definitely go there once again! Regards from Dubai
glad to see you two enjoying life together and exploring a new place.
Ese paisaje tab místico Es muy hermoso y ese puente de cristal está súper ❤ Quito 🖐️🌹
I’ve missed these travel videos from you both. This was so fun, like the “old” days. 😊
Went there on vacation last year. Also did the swing and the overlook... the cathedral was great. It's a beautiful area!
It really is!
after watching this video, I definitley want to visit Banos on my next trip to Ecuador. Great video !! thanks so much.
Glad you liked it!

Thank you! Banos looks to be so cool. I love the sidewalks and the Blessing of the cars most. That waterfall is incredible!
In most cities, Ecuadorians do a great job of keeping the area around their homes and businesses very clean. There's more litter in the rural areas.
Great! this video feels like the early original Amelia and JP videos . very nice views
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!
Thanks for the Thanks! 🥳
So glad to see new content of you two exploring Ecuador
I lived in patate in 73 and 74. Banos was a delightful place. Glad it matured gracefully
I'm with Amelia. I would NOT be on that glass deck looking at the height I was at. NO THANK YOU! Nor the swing. I HATE heights. My wife would agree with you.

Congratulations @AmeliaAndJP you are simply the best. Valio la pena esperar 6 años para conocer Baños. Una experiencia inolvidable. 🧑💻👌♥️🇪🇨🕺💃🏻
It’s so nice to watch your videos of Ecuador again, I missed them!
Perhaps, Baños’ altitude isn’t that bad for JP.
It was nice to be at a lower elevation for sure!
We visited Banos in 2018 and loved it. We only stayed a week but there were so many things to do.
I have been living in Baños now for six months - lovely place to live and to visit. This was really nice to see all the places that I am familiar with.
Oooh, lucky you!!!
@mlsaulnier So how about pharmacy's, vets, hospital, Super-Maxi, internet quality, health food stores, safety, police, ATMś, banks, etc?
@@AmeliaAndJP Yeah you can't complain! Nice being a digital nomad...but I have a new job starting in August in Quito so bye bye Baños...booo

Visited Banos twice in 2015, definitely one of my favorite places in Ecuador!
Baños is one of my favorite places of Ecuador.
Baños' Views are awesome!!! I am glad you finally made it and enjoyed it.
Was just there in March '23. The best part for me? The fresh-pressed sugar cane juice, with added lime. So good! Nowhere else in Ecuador did I find it. I arrived on a Sunday. Jam-packed with tourists, mostly daytrippers from Quito.
Yeah! I'm glad you made it to Baños. My favorite town along with Cuenca and Galapagos 🙏🙏
That looked amazing! Have to keep that location in mind for my next visit to Ecuador.
I am so glad you got to visit Baños, it's one of my favorite spots in my country. And I am super glad you are still living in Ecuador because I thought you've moved to another country.......!

I so enjoy your vids ... always so positive! Even when your talking about the dark side of Ecuador it's still positive somehow! 🎉
Thank you so much!
We loved Baños!
Amelia the candy you bought has gelatin which is animal derived.
Yeah, we didn't know what that word meant at the time 😔

you haven't been in the cities of Latacunga and Riobamba yet, those are very cold.
@@anamariaprado2718 I haven’t? I wonder why those people lied to me. I wonder where I really was.

Tks. much.

Nice to hear you guys could live there! I was wondering that the entire video!
Definitely! We may go back for an extended stay once Daisy has left us.
Wow, such a nice area, you guys did great on the swing, what a view! The glass walkway, not sure I could do it, but the views were magnificent!
The views were incredible!

And we have a lot more on our list!
We hope to make it to Baños next year.
Great video. I seem to enjoy many of the things you do on your trips.
Awesome ❤👍🏾
I enjoy yalls videos so much, laughed as he was swinging. Hubby and I hope to retire in Ecuador in a few years
Hi JP & Amelia!! Great tour of Banos! I can't wait to try the food there. I see the weather forecast calls for very chilly and snowy weather. i guess it's winter time there now??
I wouldn't trust the weather reports. Our guide told us Baños has 3 seasons every day: cold, hot and wet. 😂

Realy amaizing!!!
Beautiful video, very nice Baños!

I just have to comment on what a great thumbnail photo!!!!!
Gracias!
Yet another wonderful video!!! Hopefully you’ll return soon to unlock more of it’s mysteries.
Great video. As always. Thanks!
3rd Lansing Michigan view
@CORVAIRWILD, hey, I live in Ecuador and Iḿ from Lansing, Michigan.
16:42 I really thought Amelia was going to find a broken board in the bridge right after saying with conviction “this bridge feels really safe!”
Haha! That bridge was suspended, not anchored at either end! It bounced and swayed 200 feet above the jagged rocks and water below! 😫
