Thanks for having me on the podcast! ‘Twas definitely fun chatting with ya!
Loved hearing more of your story bro!
So proud of ya man.
Thank you this was a great interview! I started my yt channel because of you Jeremiah ! I was in the army and watching your transition into tech gave me the push I needed to transition as well
Thanks for sparing your time🤗
@jeremiahpeoples your content showed me how to start man. I appreciate your recommendation for Colt Steele’s course I am a couple weeks in and enjoying it. Thanks for your openness look forward to seeing you flourish in devrel!
I have to say I Jeremiah was one of the people I looked at when trying to figure out how to break into tech. He talked about how he followed Chris Sean’s videos and was like ok this is how you do it, it’s already been done so I know it works. I am taking the Colt Steele Udemy course for web dev and I am enjoying it! It’s replaced gaming for me. I appreciate Chris being able to out together these sessions with people who can share real advice on how to really break into tech!
The two people that got me into coding and set me on my path. Awesome dream collaboration gentleman 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for tuning in!
I went into software development after the military as well. Only difference is I did it at the age of 39 once I retired after 20 years. My job in the military had nothing to do with tech. My MOS was 91B, which is a wheeled vehicle mechanic, but I also had a bunch of other positions outside of being a mechanic. My last job was actually a member of the US Army Esports team, lol. I started teaching myself to code about 18 months before retirement and was able to get an internship 4 months before I left the Army. The company I interned at hired me on full time and I've been working here a little over a year now. I actually just got a raise and a promotion, so I'm no longer an Associate. Age is nothing, if you're willing to put in the work, you have just as much opportunity as anyone.
This podcast is fire Chris! Both of you have inspired me late 2021 to pursue a career in tech.
I as well am in the military, starting coding/learning late nights early morning while trying to balance a combat arms job. My contract finally ends at the end of the year and ready to make a jump to another career that doesn’t take a lot of time away from my family.
Good luck on the transition lmk if you have questions about programs or mil friendly roles
@@JeremiahPeoples no doubt! What platform would be best to reach you for the questions?
The 2 of you should be a regular podcast. I appreciate how level you both are. I start WGU next week for software engineering. I want my dgree and I want the skill so win win, but my goal is flexibility. I worked at the big California utility company for 10 years before and like the military, many people are happy but live at work. I want to pivot so I can value my free time and mental health.
If you want to value your free time and mental health then I've got bad news for you about the tech industry...
i try to be straight forward with my coding materia. Aim High !!!!!!
Chris gave me a new look on job core I thank him to the bottom of my heart.
@chrisSean it took me 40+ years to get out of the mindset of the people I was around.... It makes such a big different
Geared Up 🚀
I hope you make a video explaining the business side of RUclips
Lately been more inspired to get back to learning code and you 2 have been the driving forces behind it so seeing a collab is awesome. I’m gonna RUclips my journey for sure and maybe one day I’ll meet you guys at a tech conference or something or even better appear on the podcast 😂
Loved watching this podcast! You guys definitely have to do another one!
Love this. Thank you guys for sharing! Huge inspiration
THIS IS AMAZINGGGGGG. THANK YOU SEAN & JEREMIAH
fo sho fo sho
Loved this guys! Well done gentlemen!
@Chris Sean do you have any suggestions on short program(s) that could help me cut my teeth and get a taste of which direction in tech I would enjoy and find skill between coding, data analyst and network security? I feel like you have had lots of conversation and inside that would benefit me. I would be working 40-50 hours a week so I can support my family.
Yoo this was amazing! 💯💯
You stay showing up in the comments! Thanks G
2 🐐's
45:39 I want to move to Austin too 😢
Great I do like your podcast continue doing what you're doing
Hey Chris Sean I really enjoy your videos! My questions is this? Should we still pursue software engineering? Its looking more and more like juniors will be replaced by AI. I mean look at chat interpreter. That type of tech came out in a matter of months. Its only capable of coding with Python but let's be real it wont be long before they include JavaScript etc. Im so scared to put all my time and effort into software engineering only to 2 years later find out they're not needed anymore. Give me an in depth answer please. This is really scaring me.
Thanks guys for this. It was just what I needed to hear. ❤ 🇳🇬
Jeremiah peoples, when you do come to Africa. 🌍 I pray to meet you
I'm working on it! I'll let you know when I'm there
Bravo guys thanks for this.... We appreciate 🙌🏿🙌🏿🇳🇬🇳🇬
I'm still perplexed when Chris said, he was making 30k a month on youtube.
Trust me I’m still perplexed I was even capable of doing that lol.
It's funny both of you are hilariously perplexed by this. It's crazy you can make 30K/month (360K/year) with 150K subs while a senior developer position could have you making 150K/year while requiring substantially more effort and time.
Solid
Hey Chris, why does the video cut off after @12:58 and we don't get he full answer??
Sorry I messed up editing. This was after putting in time to edit 4 podcasts for 40+ hours so I must have been brain dead by then to mess that part up :(
Dude, if I made 50K a year I would beliving high of the hog.... that is my greatest fear when I get a job...
sabi na eh ...
Austin is super overrated. The homeless there are aggressive and there are more of them than portland oregon.
I really thought I was going to move to san diego or LA. Austin somehow won me over
