This is the most wholesome travel Japan channel I've found. 80% of them seem to be either "omg look at this wacky wild thing" or "how to pick up Japanese girls for a one night stand" lol. Thanks for being wholesome and actually informative! Nikko looks so pretty
Greg’s channel, Life Where I’m From, is another incredible channel! So wholesome! My husband and I love watching every single one of his videos. I would highly recommend checking his channel out if you love John’s channels 🥰 they’re both such awesome RUclipsrs!
John, thank you 🙏 for showing viewers all the quaint little shops and RYOKANS. I missed the quaint little Japanese architecture houses that dates back to the old-style Japanese way of life, despite that many of these houses have ‘modernised’ 👍👍👍👍👍
I've not been to Nikko since 2016 on my first Japan trip. I met a girl when I was over there to hang out with a few times, she was Japanese and I was telling her what my plans were for the rest of the trip and she told me to visit Nikko over Yokohama for one of the days I was still staying in Tokyo at a hotel. I was glad to take her advice and I did enjoy Nikko for most of the day I was there then took the train back to Tokyo. For only walking the whole time I explored a lot of places. Even encountered a few of the scary Japanese hornets as well haha. As someone who finds a lot of peace in nature when I need it, Nikko is a great place for that. Would recommend it to anyone. I'm going to look back at the photos and videos now of that trip as it is giving me flashbacks.
Nice to see this. I visited this place back in oct 2005 (second time, first time in 1972!) and also walked that street. It has changed an awful lot. I remembered it as a street with old deteriorated buildings and not much happening. And i am also surprised by the amount of visitors for the temple area. I was lucky i could visit those places with less people around.. Thanks for sharing.
Omg John and Greg! Mine and my husband’s two favorite RUclipsrs!!! It’s so awesome to see a “crossover episode” 🥰❤ thank you for a great video! Nikko is gorgeous!
Tochigi Prefecture is also famous for Ashikaga Flower Park. The flower park's wisteria in the spring and holiday lights around Christmas/New Years are extremely famous in Japan. I haven't been able to see the wisteria, but the holiday lights are truly amazing.
Love that place, the clean water next to the shrine.. you can even walk from the station and enjoy the view from the street, and dont let me start with the entire Temple Complex!! So beautiful!! Ah i wanna go there again... the rice manju sold by the old man is exceptional..
Only went to Nikko once in my first trip back in 2015. Beautiful place and such a beautiful day. If I go back with my mom I'm definitively will take her there 😊
Go to both! We took the train from Nikko to Hakone in 2019 on a 10 day trip, but the train ride was quite long. Also cool to see this random collab! Just saw his video on Kofu.
Woah, Nikko Pudding Tei moved and got a larger space. Good for them. The whole street looks like it’s built up more and many more shops have opened. I hope it doesn’t lose its charm.
I took the train directly from Haneda Airport to Nikko. Because it didn't make sense to stay overnight in Tokyo and then travel to Nikko. There is a subway line that goes directly from Haneda to Asakusa. From there you take the Tobu Railway to Nikko. That means you only have to change trains once. For dinner I went to the ramen restaurant. I had ramen with yuba. The next day I left the hotel before 9:00 a.m. I missed the stop at the bridge and got off at the stop after that. So the sequence I visited the shrines and temples was different. Rinnoji Temple, Iemitsu Mausoleum, Futarasan Shrine, Toshogu Shrine. Since I was already finished at about 1:00 p.m. I took the bus to Chūzenji Lake and walked around there. On the second day I went to Kinugawa Onsen. I took the train to Shimo-Imaichi station. From there the Taiju steamtrain to Kinugawa. There I went to an onsen, of course. Later i took the Kinugawa Ropeway to the Osaru-no-yama lookout point. I was at the shrine there and walked to the sacred tree. The hiking trail was a disaster, really bad. Next day i take the Train to Kamakura.
I think you sude go back to nikko and stay at the place where isabella bird. Had a stop over. Verry good hotel and close to tokugawa shrine. So you have les tourist in the morning. Also there is much more to see and lake chuzenji for hikking. And you can also go to the hotspring town.
I was in Nikko on my trip back in may/june, 4 nights, i liked the area, was also in Hakone for 3 nights but i was sick with flu for the 3 days so didn't get to see much in Hakone, I prefer Hakone, but the reason is because I was out driving the Hakone Turnpike where Initial D also takes place, it was a very nice and fun road to drive. If I come to Nikko again I want to rent a car and drive up and see Lake Chūzenji :)
John we visited in April a couple of years ago and were surprised that it synced with their festival. It was amazing. Suggest you book head you and the family will love it plus generate lots of videos. Cheers Graham. PS if you want some video and still happy to give you them. Send me info how to send it to you.
We will be in haneda villa Fontaine grand hotel at the airport would like a suggestion on a short day trip to a country town where we can experience the cuisine and the lifestyle. Thanks peter
I have been to nikko last year. What is confusing is the fact, that there are two separate train companies and two train stations. So if you get there by JR, you need to walk to the other station to get the bus pass. Other than that: i enjoyed so mich to hike around nikko.
Hi John! I was thinking of doing a day trip to nikko. How do you suggest i do it? Or should i just go to Utsunomiya instead? Thank you and more power to you ❤
Hi john! Can you suggest other place for a daytrip near tokyo aside from nikko / kawaguchiko to see the autumn folliage? We will be in tokyo around Nov 9 to 11, after watching this video i kinda hesitant to go to nikko coz of the long lines and crowd in the temple/shrine. Thanks!
I did book 2 months in advance via klook, they ended up cancelling it coz it’s sold out. So I went to tobu website and was able to book. But not the seat that I want to experience 😢
Beautiful place that's the only word that can describe it😎Thank you for showing this🙂👍!!!
What an unexpected but perfect crossover

Thanks, you pretty much let me take this off the travel list.
That bridge and scenery is amazing.

Great to see Greg! Thanks for the commentary on Nikko.

The last (and only so far) time I was here was almost a year ago. Nice memories, thank you John!

The line for the shrine is insane! It wasn’t like that when I went in May 2019.
Nice to see you both in one episode kudos to my fellow Canadian youtuber in Japan! O ni-ri ni saranaru pawā o

Oh no John Nikko in just 15 minutes 😅 thats such a rush
I knew would gonna end the stream in a weak spot lol. Have a safe ride home and I'll catch your next live real soon John.
Easily one of my fav places i visited in Japan! Momiji season is amazing in Nikko ❤
I had spent the night in Nikko a few years ago, it's a beautiful place to visit.
Revisiting in November. So extra time planned in shopping street & restaurants :) Last visit was first time I've see onsen source at Yumoto-onsen.
Countryside looks nice!

Aw...one week early. We'll be in Nikko in a week.
Nikko is cool and kakoi, I spent a lot of time riding around there last month.
All of the city’s and town you goes by in Tokyo are a nightmare nice places to visit
That was fun..!
Wow best duo 😊
Lovely!

I went to Nikko last year and even camped at a campsite nearby
It was great to see the beautiful bridge and the mountains and the greenery and the town hope you enjoy your train ride John
Busy place.

What time did you arrive at Toshugu? There were so many people there😮
@@annev5711 It's been 5 months since I was there so I don't remember 😅
GREG IS THERE! YAY!

I'm sure most merchants and restaurants are quite happy with all the extra tourism. How many struggled and had to close during the pandemic.
We will be in haneda villa Fontaine grand hotel at the airport would like a suggestion on a short day trip to a country town where we can experience the cuisine and the lifestyle. Thanks peter
maybe i will go to nikko this november. That or Fukuroda falls in Ibaraki. I think the latter as I was in nikko already for the fall last year.
It’s really nice! I love Daigo-machi in Ibaraki, great vibes there.
Ive been to Nikko, the Kegon falls and that bridge with the town. Its absolutely stunning, incredible scenery. Would love to go back.

I was there yesterday 😅😅😅 but you were gone😅😅😅
This is off the topic of Nikko ..John have you tried the burgers at Ichijima Bakery Lab.

If you need a picture of something, i will be there for the fall festival 15 to 17
The Standard Bakers is nice, but just a big chain.
youguyyssssss
Ducks wins!?
10,000 steps is equivalent to 5 miles
4:14 Did I miss it? What is the bad news?
True, what is it? It never came up again in this lifestream...
Over tourisum can ruin the town.
Is there a bus to nikko from the airport, would prefer a none tourist area
