I’ve had a few issues with ARB products & fitting over the years and I’ve found that the best way to deal with issues you can’t solve at the dealer/shop is to go over their heads and go to the states head office. Good luck.
I went to my local ARB in Biggera Waters because I was looking for a suspension upgrade. He reluctantly came out to look at my Hilux, wouldn’t even bend down to have a look underneath and wanted me to tell him what was on there now. Asked me to email some details and he would get back to me with some ideas. Went around the corner to Fulcrum who weighed it, put it up on the hoist, told me what was wrong and what all my options were. Ended up with a full suspension replacement and GVM upgrade. $9k later I’m very happy with the end result and the service from Fulcrum. It could have been an easy sell for ARB but I’m glad I went to Fulcrum.
Our ARB store we use (East end, traralgon Vic) have always had the right attitude. Nothing but professional and very helpful. This includes warranty issues. If your not getting this from anyone service company etc, don't go back simple.
I really enjoy watching your content Cam, mainly because you are relatable. I watch your vids cos I can see myself where you are, in the car you are in, get ideas for trips that I can do, and it helps you live in WA as well. Your car may be the new shiny kid on the block, but you went the base spec (which was smart) as opposed to the top of the range $150k+ models. This is in stark contrast to some channels that end up with massive yank tanks worth upwards of $200k with fully sponsored canopy layouts, or top of the range RAM's which cost $250k+, and their videos are just them trying to sell something to the viewers. Don't be ashamed of how much you've spent, because you've earn't it. Just keep on being real! btw, the Evakool organizer turned up 2 days after I placed the order, and the quality on it is fantastic. Haven't had a chance to use it, but looks and feels amazing 👍👌
ARB have been riding a wave of success and seem to be dropping the ball on quality along the way. Push hard as it’s not your problem and cost to refit those steps.
Dropped the ball and kicked it down the drain out of reach many years ago. I gave up on them after numerous dead, faulty out of the box and early failures in their products. They're trading on past reputation which will eventually catch up with them. Wouldn't touch them myself.
ARB quality control out the window when you move offshore and set up a big factory in Thailand. Also your wait times blow out to 3 months as that's how long the containers take to get here.
Nice one Cam. I do rate the base rack for the ease of fitting accessories and that you get a stronger fixing too. And all the kaon gear is mint. I have the same awning brackets but I have the side mount maxtrax holder that folds away. Also if you are still getting a bit of noise from you roof rack maybe check the gap between the light bar and roof rack. I fitted my light bar about a year after my roof rack and instantly the noise was heaps worse. It had a whistle to it. I ended up putting some foam tape between the roof rack and light bar and it stopped it completely. Can send you a photo of it if you want 👍🏽
Thanks for another honest and informative video. Brought the 30 Second 270 awning off the back of your "Rookie Mistake" video a few weeks back - very happy with it, a great product 👍
Mate! This has quickly become my dream build. Congratulations on everything you've done, it absolutely looks mint. As for ARB , I think their bullbar looks the best by far and whilst they've made a mistake with the side steps I'd say ya just gunna have to except it as one of those things that happens to all companies manufacturering a product, sometimes they just get it wrong. At least they have come to the party and are taking ownership of the problem and not fighting you over who's at fault like other companies do. It's obviously painful but the bigger picture is you've built an awesome vehicle with a number of after market suppliers gear thoughtfully layed out with a couple of minor hiccups along the way,,,, great build I just can't wait to see more of it mate, well done, absolutely epic. Cheers
Hi Cam, another great video. You briefly mentioned your portable solar panel. I believe it's the Quad fold 400w from Offroad Living. I look forward to your comments on that. Good luck with ARB.
Will have a video on this solar panel this weekend and have a really good deal on getting one cheap so if you’re thinking about buying one hold off until this weekend 😁
I have a victron solar controller on my trailer, and I love it! It is solar only. I live where the sun shines more than 2/3 of the year. I am setting up another vehicle right now and finding it disappointing that Victron doesn't make an all in one controller for dc/dc and MPPT. Watch, as soon as I buy another brand, they'll come out with one. Murphys law and all that. Cheers, Cam!❤
Another great video Cam, I’m definitely no ARB shill, but that Summit MK2 bar looks awesome on the 300. I’ve recently added one to my Hilux and I’m very happy with it. Cheers
Fantastic wrap up, I don't think I would be touching ARB again if I were you or Aaron. I think most people that upgrade or improve any vehicle, van, boat, bike or house would be shocked at the price
I use to work at ARB a long time ago, had the same issues with bent bars, steps and other damaged stock. Been going on for year and part of the reason I don’t really touch their stuff. The amount of “bent” bar was unreal.
Hiya Cam, great video. Am possibly looking to change from a 200 to 300. Wondered if you could give an update on how the Arb base rack is going? Thank you.
I have the ARB base rack and am happy as with it. I went with TJM sliders. Not the heaviest duty you can get but they look good & are more solid that the ARB units. Also had TJM install front & rear e-lockers. I think they were around 5K for both.
Another great video Cam. I would def it be pushing ARB to come to the party and paying the refit costs when you get the new side steps. It’s not your issue that they have come to you in poor condition. By the looks of your followers ARB are dropping their game. Good luck and we look forward to seeing how you go.
Hey Cam. ARB have done my last two vehicles at some expense mind you. Always been happy with the work but the side steps can get a bit slippery and on more than one occasion I have almost gone @rse up. I will probably go ARB bull bar on the DMax build soon. My only disappointment is that after spending maybe 30k plus at ARB and not too mention I have promoted them on my channel, not the slightest discount was offered. I rate the ARB bull bars but there is plenty of other gear on the market. Additionally, I have priced the auto drop down retractable sliders and there is not much difference in price. So I'm going to try them on the new DMax. Scratch buff out pretty easily too mate. Mine have just been buffed out and the 76 LC looks mind again. Safe travels mate.
Nah don’t think I’ll go a tinny afterall, I’m the only one interested in boating so it would only be for me 😂 the compromise is I’m allowed a bigger boat when we get back from our lap haha
I'm picking up my LC300 this week from ARB which was fitted out with the Summit Bullbar, rails and sidestep. I wonder if i will have the same problem ... I'll update once i pick it up.
Mate. Emailed AGD twice on your recommendations for a costing to do some work. Not even a reply. Might wish to mention to them that they could at least answer your followers even if dont want the work.....not a good reflection on them. Loving your 300 series videos. We are looking to go down same path and very keen to see the episode on pricing. Keep them coming!
Not complaining to Cam mate, Just letting Cam know that they are non responsive to email enquiries. No difference than comments on ARB below that Cam and others have shared. They are obviously not interested in quoting the work and have now had two companies quote within a day or two on same request. That says it all.@@ajf9034
Mate simply letting Cam know a company he promotes does not reply to requests for quotes. No different than Cam and others pointing out the challenges with ARB. Asked two other companies to quote and had quotes back within 2 days and moved on. Could say nothing but I am sure Cam appreciates the feedback and the good intent it is given with. @@ajf9034
Sorry to hear that mate, yeah might be best to give them a call. They’re only a small business and Aaron the owner does all the admin as well as spinning spanners on the floor so he’s flat out.
Great video . We are going the brown Davis tank although they have had issues but the other brand take out the sub tank so not ideal . Just for future reference bushrap do a 5 year wrap do it yourself under $1000 which we did as it actually protects. Just with your steps really not sure why you had to take the tanks out as the bracket slides between the rail and the tank , crawl under you can see how they are fitted . Keep up with the great videos 👍
I think we are both playing with words. It is dropped 50mm 5 bolts are removed adds 15 Minutes. Keep up the good work let us know if you hear when the safari snorkel is out for the GX @@WildTouring
Hi Cam, I think the problem with ARB products is they are very expensive so we expect a good product and in my personal experience that is definitely not the case. Some of the paint work on there products is rubbish I experienced that on my roof rack and my bull bar. The rain somehow Gets under the paint with time and the paint just peels off and of cause rust appears. So in hindsight you definitely don’t get what you pay for. I had to strip every bit of paint of the roof rack and repaint it myself then half the paint of the bull bar and paint it also. Myself I wouldn’t buy anything again from them I find them very blazeh and uninterested at times. I think if they don’t get there act together they may have big problems down the line. This being to many customers are getting to many problems and they just don’t seem to be to concerned. Jon🇦🇺
My ARB side steps are slippery (longitudinally) when wet. Nearly hurt myself a couple of times. Had to put non slip tape along the outer edge of the aluminium tread. So far so good.
ARB have their own installers - they should do it for free under warranty. But given their lack of quality assurance, would you trust them with vital components such as your fuel tanks.
Hi Cam, brilliant idea charging the van from the car. Bad solar day in Tassie today so I thought I would give it a go and it is working a treat, thanks for the tip.
Wow, you in the North mate? or under a tree? sitting here in Hobart and barely a cloud in the sky and 31 degrees (not that the degrees affects charge of course).
Hi Cam, I would be, as you sound in this video, very pissed off. 4wders go to ARB because they, in the past, have had a great rep for their service and gear (for a price, not cheap) and for you to cop this twice is not a great ad for their product nor their quality control. I buy all my fourby stuff from Kings and I know what to expect therefore do not complain if it fails (which it hasn't to date). Love the weekly vids keep em coming. Cheers Bob
Just go to ARB to remove the faulty step and refit the new one when it arrives at no additional out of pocket charge to you. This is not your issue to bear. The inconvenience is punishment enough for you. There’s no F way you should be paying twice for labour to rectify their faulty supplied steps! I’ve had similar fitment related issues with bullbar and steps on a hilux (not arb brand) in the past and was rectified at no additional cost. You’re being way too polite Cam.
Having owned the same car for around 18 months now, I am loving your build series. Great to see you have used the KAON gear which is quality gear. Have you driven it in the rain at all? I ask as the snorkel is my major gripe because it leaks a significant amount of water into the air filter when driving in heavy rain, which we have had lots over the last few months in SE Queensland. Toyota are still looking at the issue with no fix yet. Safari Snorkels will hopefully be releasing a retrofit kit for their Armax snorkel which may be an expensive solution. Not sure I want to see the next vid where you give a price run down, it might scare me as I too have pumped a few dollars into my car.
Have heard similar stories from others! It’s been summer since I ordered the car so haven’t seen much rain. I’ve got a safari airmax on order so I’m hoping I can get it fit before winter sets in 😬
Love the build mate and all the honesty about what's working. One quick Q and a callout, what are your thoughts on Bushwrapz for a little extra protection from bushstripes? I've put a 520W flexible solar panel Sunman eArc on my rigs roof, might be worth a google for the weight, fuel and wind noise upgrade.
I would never purchase anything from ARB ever again, I've had such bad experiences with their products, service and attitude. I avoid them at all cost.
Yep - arb has great brand awareness , only thing keeping them going - i had two bull bars replaced as the powder coating was terrible and all scratched - second bar didn’t fit correctly . I went a different path all together - they are a joke these days - bring in competitor brands I say !
Gees, I was pissed with their attitude, wow, I'm not the only one, haha. Had a colour coded bar supplied & fitted to new GU Patrol by dealer. Collected car, when home noticed it was down on the passenger side by 15mm and fell forward. Took it back, second attempt, removed bolts, washers & nuts, they got the side to side aligned correct, fitted bolts nuts & washers into incorrect locations bending washers, destroyed spring washers and the bloody bar still was falling forward, got told that's how they fit, nothing wrong with it. Funny thing is, mines the only vehicle I've seen with the bar on this forward rake. Rings head office, Melbourne. Advise, can't help me, ring Sydney as I'm in NSW. Rings Sydney, what a waste of time that was. Not one ounce of customer care displayed to me. Told to return to dealer for rectification, no way, two attempts, two failures, not going there again. Asked if I took it to Minchinbury direct could they refit it. No, needs to go back to dealer involved. Ask for fitting instructions and replacement bolts, washers, nuts so I could fit it myself. Told that's a warranty claim, need to submit car to dealer for warranty assessment. WTF. I paid for fitting instructions, never saw them as dealer installed it, I paid for good hardware destroyed by dealer placing them in incorrect locations. Vowed I never go to ARB again, never. Then I'm in SA, shattered the fog light, so goes into ARB outlet in small town for replacement. Guys fantastic, looks at my bar from inside shop to see what light is required and says straight up, that's not mounted correctly. That rekindled an old wound let me tell you. He then goes on to explain he could spend every day refitting incorrectly installed ARB gear, saying Adelaide shop has terrible record of installation. Well, the dealer I used in NSW wasn't any better, ha! Never again ARB, shameful service.
Hey Cam can i ask why you went for side steps instead of rock sliders? From my experience steps offer little protection from bashing sills, these days you get rock sliders with the plated top so the rugrats still can jump up into car easily. just curious to your thoughts. cheers smithy
Hey Cam, re the steps, bummer about the dodgy fit but the car looks awesome with them (versus naked without them). Personally, I would be hitting ARB up to pay for the second install, it is their product issue, and not the first one you have had from them. Lets face it, they can get a "thanks ARB for doing the right thing" in the next video after the new step is installed, which would make us all think hey ARB are good (so positive PR) or they could stick with what I take away from this video so far... that ARB supply dodgy stuff sometimes so buyer beware...
I had a crap brand new ARB bullbar on my 200 series (scratched and barwork out of alignment), they had to fit another one. Should have brought a Toyota one.
Gday mate Awesome rig. Very envious. Just wondering what sort of pressures those bead grip rims will allow you to go down to, or do they just add a bit of extra security if goin down to say 12 psi? I’ve got a pretty gutless Hilux so I run 12 psi a lot when it gets soft and seems to be a great pressure Cheers mate
I’ve gone as low as 12 psi and I’m pretty confident I could go even lower. The rims do go really well - I’ve not had any bead issues since running them whereas previously at those sorts of pressures I was having issues.
Hi Cam aside from the slack ARB QC on the side steps the 300 is looking great. I will be interested in your build cost video on how much the ceramic coating was. Did you look at Bushwrapz ? - I see they quote around $1300 for a 5 year self healing PPF - albeit it’s either DIY or you pay someone to install. Cheers
Have heard mixed reviews on bushwrapz but have no personal experience with them. The ceramic coating cost around $1600 for the top tier, but it starts around the $900 mark.
Love the build mate. Sorry to hear not only of the ARB hiccups, but also the crap customer service. Supply issues are no excuse to avoid consumer law. The problem is every time I’m driving around Perth and see a white LC300 with awning and roof rack, I have to have a closer look in case it’s you and stop watching the road 😂
Curious as to why you are charging from the car using 240v power from the inverter when you could charge from the car to the van anderson plug using the van dcdc converter?
Could do either, but to charge it via DC would require the car being very close to the van- which is sometimes not going to be possible in some campsites. OR I’d need longer runs on twin core, which is going to be pretty big/heavy/costly copper to overcome the voltage drop. Charging it off the inverter there will be losses. But won’t suffer from nearly as much voltage drop with a 240v extension lead. And I can pretty much have the car parked where ever is convenient- and in the sun 👍🏼
Truck is looking really good, nice work. ARB should not only provide a replacement but should also cover ALL the costs to replace the faulty one. There should be NO cost to you or the people who fit the replacement. Nothing else would be acceptable in my few. Look forward to seeing the build breakdown. Have a good week. Cheers Mark
I've had a very poor experience with my local ARB dealer on two vehicles in the last couple years (so, I know it's not a coincidence). I'm talking mis-matched paint on flares they fitted, accidentally drilling holes in the floor of my vehicle, squeaky suspension in their "top of the line" BP-51 suspension. They didn't argue about fixing it, but the whole time there's no apology or "sorry for the trouble" etc.. it's just, "ok, bring it it and we'll see what we can do". Every time I bring the car in for something, there's a problem and I'm back a few times. I must have spent 100's of dollars on Uber rides back and forth to pick up my car, not to mention hours out of my day... Not doubt they design some great products, but there's a lot of issues in the execution of those designs - and the biggest issue is the inconsistent quality of workmanship through their franchise network.
If needed you could use Australian Consumer Law with ARB. If they're expecting you to pay the labour costs to repair a faulty product, they're in breach of the most very basic principles. If they argue their responsibility its a pain you'd need a solicitors letter or worse court order.
Yeah, fortunately I had already learnt my lesson early with ARB. I ordered a LongRanger Aux Tank from the manufacturer in NSW and they asked what ARB dealer I would like to fit it for me; I told them I wouldn't trust ARB to install anything more on my ute and that I would drive 2.5hours to them and they could fit it for me while I waited all day. Well worth it.
That's pretty average from ARB having 2 different faulty items delivered. I would be speaking to a arb manager to get them to cover the labour costs for reinstalling the sliders. It's not your fault it's been a Friday arvo job and it's also a major inconvenience let alone cost to reinstall them again. If they have any sort of customer service they should at minimum cover the labour costs
Hey Cam, good on you for calling out the "big brands" as a consumer, most people that follow your channel will know you are not any kind of whinger, just a state the facts bloke. I say bash those bars to bits on the tracks and get new ones, it's not your fault they didn't fit correctly, so go them the labour as well!! Also I know you are big on safety and I would just comment with the amount of Lithium batteries, and the current supplied to them, have you had much thought about the specific Lithium fire extinguishers that might be added to you vehicle and van?
Arb and their holier than thou attitude! They haven’t supplied the product as displayed so they should be supplying and paying for labor on the replacement.
I’m not bothered about a refund/partial refund, but I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to not offer to cover labour cost of replacing the damaged items if they can’t provide them while my cars on the hoist! It shouldn’t come out of my pocket, or the workshop fitting the items pocket!!!
Get some phat bars side steps. Aussie made, local business a1 quality. Avoid arb big corporate attitude these days. They're not what they used to be 30 years ago.
Mate if you want some quality side steps speak to raslarr in Melbourne gear is quality ARB are just shit after my last build would never use them again
TBH I haven’t had a real good run with ARB’s attention to detail and had to take my rig back a couple of times - they have honoured their guarantees but it’s a damned inconvenience to take it in as I live out of the big smoke. I’ve had more reliable results with my DIY fittings.
Hi Cam Side steps out of alignment in production and QC did not picked it up? Yep, that would put the QS manager in a hot seat. In China that guy would have 1000 excuses… „chop the monkeys head off that other learn from it“…. Batch faulty delivered to Australia ? ARB to Sort it out and all cost for transport and re installation have to be born by ARB Australia as seller to dealer and en-customer and that without saying nor asking for. Every company comes across such misshapes. That is different from design flaws…. Any update on the ARB roof rack and brackets to fit direct to the roof?? I like the design, no slots outside clamping and welded structure, not screwed or riveted. I am in for buying a new roof rack now for my 200 series. But wait for your update if ARB has fixed properly the side step issue for you Ronny D just released his short updated on roof loads different vehicles. Interesting 🧐 I just wonder why so many people get that wrong how this simple calculation works. The only thing what the various producer have to state very clear : on road and off road load capacity must be the same with 5 years warranty on material and welding faults. RTT plus 270 degree awning is for my understanding already an overload on any roof. Cheers from SA Yorke peninsula
I have had three bad experiences with ARB not backing up there products when they failed within weeks of purchasing them disappointing after dropping about $10K over the counter, they have some great products but quality control and backup are rubbish
Will only go to arb if I really have to otherwise I avoid them like the plague, they got me for $1200 , when I asked were my bullbar was ,they claimed that there wasn't a record for the transaction.First and last time I ever made a phone transaction, lesson learnt
ARB sound very unreliable , why wouldnt they make sure they always have stock on-hand and in the bloody country at all times for any issues that accure like your's?
Best case would be assembled in Australia, why would they make it here when the can get cheap labour to do it internationally otherwise how could they compete against the imported rubbish coming in
Still think your mad for not wrapping the car in PPF. Keeps it looking good for years to come not only from pinstriping but even things like people brushing against it in carparks etc. And you will probably want to consider an alternator upgrade, as the factory unit output is quite low especially at cruising speeds.
That’s why I put 30a charger in the car. Pretty small for such a large battery bank but have to work with the limitations of the factory alternator. Caravan has a 24v Enerdrive unit, charge current can be adjusted on it. Both car and van have seperate solar controllers, so combined with with alternator input they’ll still charge fast in clear conditions 👍🏼
@@WildTouring The other issue with those older 30a Orions is they tend to reduce output as they get hot, which is their biggest problem, the new XS orion 50's do solve that, and its easy to adjust output via Cerbo or bluetooth. Ive just gone through all this with my current setup, even with a similar alternator as what is factory on the 300 series (they have 200a from factory, i was running a 180a) running a single 100a buckboost and 1520w of solar charging 1240a of lithium, and at idle at least it was very borderline, and was going backwards with headlights on. Was easily solved with going to a 360a alternator, and ive also added a 2nd 100a buckboost, so i do not require a genset at all, just run the truck on fast idle. Truck itself is a Fuso Canter
Same, completely stuffed all under bonnet electrics. Tapped into existing wiring no solder no tape just twisted together. Literally knots in wires and harnesses. Did not attach parts of tow bar, tore wires on existing trailer ecu trying to force it to fit. Couldn’t fit suspension bp51s onto the vehicle. Absolute joke.
Well you certainly opened a can of worms, many disheartened ARB clients chiming in with their complaints, as I did also sharing my grievances with their product installation. You should be able to claim some traction from head office with this backing, but you may just get the same ritual run around I received also, rolled over and disregarded. Make it difficult enough to say, oh stuff it. Aside from that, your electrical has me fascinated, that's serious overkill. Understand your explanation and desired requirements but that's a serious amount of storage. Very difficult to justify the cost associated with something that over the top IMO. Curious for your costings on it.
No way arb have supplied a defective product it’s up to them to supply and pay for replacement not you. They may want to do it at an arb dealer but. No way would I be paying for it. Good luck.
Ah yes arb strikes again, unfortunately they have the nicest looking bull bar for the 300 series. But they just don’t give a crap anymore, QC doesn’t exist there anymore.
I’ve had a few issues with ARB products & fitting over the years and I’ve found that the best way to deal with issues you can’t solve at the dealer/shop is to go over their heads and go to the states head office.

Love the setup mate, some huge inspo right there
Arb buyers keep telling themselves reasons they made the right choice.
I’ve also much like you turned my patrol into a mobile power generator 😊
Hi Cam & Tiff, what’s the final verdict on the ARB Base Rack? I’m still not sold on this rack and looking at Tracklander and an alternative.✌️
Great setup very smart build 👍
Great update Cam. Wondering about a dinghy on top, still a goer or not, or a surprise. Cheers mate
🤞 hope you have some better luck!
Why don’t you pick up the phone and give them a call then instead of complaining here.
Cheers! Nah unfortunately the ARB side steps for the 300 series does require the tank to be removed for fitting.
@@Susieandchris did you cut your body mounts to get to the bolt?
I think we are both playing with words. It is dropped 50mm 5 bolts are removed adds 15 Minutes. Keep up the good work let us know if you hear when the safari snorkel is out for the GX @@WildTouring
Cheers for sharing your build, really interesting. Have you installed a catchcan and or an extra fuel filter?
Nah neither yet! May do down the track 👍
Hi Cam, I think the problem with ARB products is they are very expensive so we expect a good product and in my personal experience that is definitely not the case. Some of the paint work on there products is rubbish I experienced that on my roof rack and my bull bar. The rain somehow
Gets under the paint with time and the paint just peels off and of cause rust appears. Jon🇦🇺
Hey mate, what sort of lift have you got and tyres? Nice setup😊
At St Helens mate, haven't seen the sun all day.
Who fitted the clearviews
Hi Cam, I would be, as you sound in this video, very pissed off. 4wders go to ARB because they, in the past, have had a great rep for their service and gear (for a price, not cheap) and for you to cop this twice is not a great ad for their product nor their quality control. I buy all my fourby stuff from Kings and I know what to expect therefore do not complain if it fails (which it hasn't to date). Love the weekly vids keep em coming. Cheers Bob
Tell them you have millions of people who watch your home videos?
Just go to ARB to remove the faulty step and refit the new one when it arrives at no additional out of pocket charge to you. This is not your issue to bear. The inconvenience is punishment enough for you. There’s no F way you should be paying twice for labour to rectify their faulty supplied steps!
I’ve had similar fitment related issues with bullbar and steps on a hilux (not arb brand) in the past and was rectified at no additional cost. You’re being way too polite Cam.
Hi Cam can I ask who fitted your towing mirrors, ??, we are looking at some at present for our LC300, cheers enjoying the content
AGD in Wangara fitted them 👍
Having owned the same car for around 18 months now, I am loving your build series.
I’ve got a safari airmax on order so I’m hoping I can get it fit before winter sets in 😬
I was thinking about getting an ARB bar for new Troopy but you seem to be getting some QC issues.
Why don't you take into ARB and have them for the replacement sidestep. They should bare the cost.
Thanks for sharing
Recently discovered this channel and im hooked. As a fellow 300 owner love the content!
Cheers mate 😊
Love the build mate and all the honesty about what's working. One quick Q and a callout, what are your thoughts on Bushwrapz for a little extra protection from bushstripes?
I've put a 520W flexible solar panel Sunman eArc on my rigs roof, might be worth a google for the weight, fuel and wind noise upgrade.
Have read mixed reviews but no personal experience with them!
I would never purchase anything from ARB ever again, I've had such bad experiences with their products, service and attitude. I avoid them at all cost.
I’ll second that - issue with their fitting, sent back for the day and still crap- so just said would never give them another $ and fixed myself
Arb are just expensive adventure kings
@@ianweal3081 - time we all support others if unhappy and DO NOT spend a cent again with ARB stores anywhere!
Hey Cam can i ask why you went for side steps instead of rock sliders? From my experience steps offer little protection from bashing sills, these days you get rock sliders with the plated top so the rugrats still can jump up into car easily. just curious to your thoughts. cheers smithy
Cheers, wanted something to help the kids and wife get in and out the car too so that seemed like the best option 👍
Aye mate, do you lose the ability to throw swags on the roof now? Or still happy to put a swag ontop of the solar.
Yeah would cover the solar but I always put my swag inside the car, have never put one of the roof of any of my cars 👍
I had a crap brand new ARB bullbar on my 200 series (scratched and barwork out of alignment), they had to fit another one. Should have brought a Toyota one.
Gday mate
Awesome rig. Very envious.
Just wondering what sort of pressures those bead grip rims will allow you to go down to, or do they just add a bit of extra security if goin down to say 12 psi?
I’ve got a pretty gutless Hilux so I run 12 psi a lot when it gets soft and seems to be a great pressure
Cheers mate
I’ve gone as low as 12 psi and I’m pretty confident I could go even lower. The rims do go really well - I’ve not had any bead issues since running them whereas previously at those sorts of pressures I was having issues.
I would have sent arb back and got some Phat bar steps or Off road Animal. Phat bars have a great reputation and make a top product.
I can't find the car cost build video😢 I'm really interested in the solar and battery set up
Unfortunately we had a similar experience with ARB, had a bull bar replaced three times under warranty. Hoping your situation is resolved quickly!
Hi Cam, Question - what width Base Rack did you get? 1445mm or 1285mm. I'm looking to do similar with my 300 when it arrives. Cheers
1285mm 👍
Hi Cam
aside from the slack ARB QC on the side steps the 300 is looking great.
Haha 😁
Cheers Mark
I think a 3.3L Diesel Auto Engine, would work well in a 70"s series.
Hey mate , Arb should pay the install cost
Hi mate just a thought a lot of utubers are putting a shop link were you do the thumbs up not computer savvy just a thought
Cheers will look in to it
I've had a very poor experience with my local ARB dealer on two vehicles in the last couple years (so, I know it's not a coincidence).
Do not think i would be paying for ARB stuff up or the bloody labor Tiff is looking pretty spiffy doing the modelling
ARB and Toyota are a match made in heaven, used to be good quality but now are overpriced and trading on their reputation
One of the smartest comments I’ve read on RUclips this year👍
ARB canopy is excellent however, the install was terrible.
Ended up running the wires properly.
Yep ARB suck ,long range tank fitted by them ended up costing me nearly 5 k in the end.
Curious… how will u clean your roof now you have that ARB roof rack?
With the ceramic coating I can now just spray it with the high pressure hose underneath 👍
@@WildTouring good to know, I’ll be interested to know how that goes long term 👍
That's pretty average from ARB having 2 different faulty items delivered. I would be speaking to a arb manager to get them to cover the labour costs for reinstalling the sliders. It's not your fault it's been a Friday arvo job and it's also a major inconvenience let alone cost to reinstall them again. If they have any sort of customer service they should at minimum cover the labour costs
what is the situation with the towing mirrors?
They are clearviews 👍
Hey Cam, good on you for calling out the "big brands" as a consumer, most people that follow your channel will know you are not any kind of whinger, just a state the facts bloke. I say bash those bars to bits on the tracks and get new ones, it's not your fault they didn't fit correctly, so go them the labour as well!! Also I know you are big on safety and I would just comment with the amount of Lithium batteries, and the current supplied to them, have you had much thought about the specific Lithium fire extinguishers that might be added to you vehicle and van?
I’ve got an interesting video coming up in a few weeks about the safety of lithium 🤔🙂 stay tuned!
@@WildTouring Tuned in ! 🫡
Arb and their holier than thou attitude!
They haven’t supplied the product as displayed so they should be supplying and paying for labor on the replacement.
Hey, cam, ARB should have to pay for all the work on the car for the side steps and they should refund you some money around.
Yeah thats ture.
$8K is outrageous!!! Must be a ton of profit!!!
Also, did you say how much the ceramic costs??
Around $1600 for the top tier, but it starts around the $900 mark.
TBH I haven’t had a real good run with ARB’s attention to detail and had to take my rig back a couple of times - they have honoured their guarantees but it’s a damned inconvenience to take it in as I live out of the big smoke. I’ve had more reliable results with my DIY fittings.
You can spend 100k at ARB and not even get a stubby holder thrown in haha
Hi Cam
Side steps out of alignment in production and QC did not picked it up?
But wait for your update if ARB has fixed properly the side step issue for you
Ronny D just released his short updated on roof loads different vehicles. Interesting 🧐
I just wonder why so many people get that wrong how this simple calculation works.
You know what they say fool me once shame on you , etc but you keep going back to ARB .
Not great from ARB considering the premium they charge 😢
How is there "nothing in the country"? Do they import this stuff?
Likely moved overseas for cheap labour. There’s a different cost to that though
Most of arb’s stuff comes from their Thailand factories, they have 5 over there
Will only go to arb if I really have to otherwise I avoid them like the plague, they got me for $1200 , when I asked were my bullbar was ,they claimed that there wasn't a record for the transaction.First and last time I ever made a phone transaction, lesson learnt
What ??? You cannot send cash over the phone. There are bank transaction records - use them.

ARB supplied the 💩 you should get ARB to install the replacement, at their cost
ARB sound very unreliable , why wouldnt they make sure they always have stock on-hand and in the bloody country at all times for any issues that accure like your's?
I thought all ARB bar work was Australia made, why do they have to wait for the product to come into Australia
No idea what’s imported and what’s locally made. With both items I was told there’s no stock in the country.
Most of their bar work is made in thailand now, changed a number of years ago.
Best case would be assembled in Australia, why would they make it here when the can get cheap labour to do it internationally otherwise how could they compete against the imported rubbish coming in
@@Kevin_Barnacle_Jonescheap Labor to make it yet arb still charges premium pricing.
@@krump743 correct, just like everyone one else with a brand name.
Still think your mad for not wrapping the car in PPF. Keeps it looking good for years to come not only from pinstriping but even things like people brushing against it in carparks etc.
And you will probably want to consider an alternator upgrade, as the factory unit output is quite low especially at cruising speeds.
Yeah you won’t be alone. It’s just a cost vs benefit thing I guess. If ceramic coating and PPF were the same cost then it would be a no brainer 👍🏼

Surely ARB cover the labour for their piss take of a product that they’ve delivered.
ARB are overrated. I've had issues with them too.
No way arb have supplied a defective product it’s up to them to supply and pay for replacement not you. They may want to do it at an arb dealer but. No way would I be paying for it. Good luck.
My biggest fear is that one day my wife sells my car for what I told her I paid for it....
Haha too true 😂
Mate, and now you are in hot water….
Ah yes arb strikes again, unfortunately they have the nicest looking bull bar for the 300 series. But they just don’t give a crap anymore, QC doesn’t exist there anymore.
