Looking at the work you have done, you do a really great job with FCP. A little time spent on learning DRs platform (especially the tracking stuff will blow your mind when you see how it is supposed to be done) the hype will make sense. For me as a hobbyist, I really feel that someone with your potential would be better suited for the depth that DR Studio can offer you professionally. Would hate to see you missing out on any potential growth. Good luck!

Guys I make GOOD money as an editor and please listen when I say just use whatever software you're comfortable with and enjoy using. The skill ceiling for ALL programs is so much higher than anyone in these comments is willing to admit, meaning someone amazing at a 'bad' program will always be better than someone mediocre in a 'good' program.

I appreciate that you said that you knew nothing about Davinci Resolve. Your manually masking the hand was very funny. It could have been done by selecting Magic Mask, Drawing a line down the hand usually gives a perfect mask then click Tracking and DONE.
Again I liked that you said you knew nothing and only used the program for a short while.
I felt the same when I open Davinci Resolve for the first time. Now I would not use anything else. I started with 16 and still learn new features regularly. Thanks for the video.

It would probably have been much easier to do the masking in Fusion rather than the color page. Since you kept your hand in basically the same shape, you could have tracked your hand, then created a polygon mask and used the tracker to match move the mask, with only minor adjustments, if at all, to the polygon's shape at certain keyframes.

A bit disappointed that the basis and conclusions within your video was that workflow you learned over time in FCP was easier for you than workflow you literally just learned on DVR. I think that idea of the video was great - looking at a DVR experience from the perspective of a FCP is cool. I'd have liked it a ton more had you caveated your conclusions knowing that you haven't yet invested the time to learn DVR. A key example of this was when you suggested that with FCP you had hotkeys for speed ramps - however when you show the context menu of DVR you can clearly see the CMD+R for a retime curve. My point simply is that you can't draw a parallel between a workflow you have spent years learning and a workflow you spent near zero time with. Even still - I did enjoy stumbling through the workflow with you. Learning curves are a bizatch.

I appreciate your constructive criticism. There’s definitely a lot to learn about DaVinci Resolve. I didn’t call one software better than the other, but simply said that for right now I’ll stick with FCP considering the years of experience and workflow, like you mentioned, and I may learn bits and pieces of DaVinci through the process. This video is to show my thoughts on experiencing DaVinci for the first time, with the learning process and struggles as well.
All editing softwares have something new to learn and are different in their own way. In this case I wanted to learn DaVinci’s very unique layout in a fun and enjoyable video, as someone who doesn’t know much about it.
Which I am glad you enjoyed.

Well. Cool video. Yet it is bias just because you have more Knowledge on FCPX. So I probably look for someone who have around the same knowledge on DR and you on FC to put it on a test. Lot of your test are based on how you know to do some stuff. I know both works and stuff like ramping, keyframe ease are actually pretty fast. Yet Nice video. Keep pushing.
