Next time you extend the legs on the old tripod you will see spring loaded little lugs pop out. These are at the end of each extended section and stop the legs from sliding back when in use. To push the legs back just press the lugs back into the leg section and push the leg section back into the tripod. No need to use force as that can damage the lugs. Nice collection you have there.
