I recently subscribed to your channel and started watching your videos regularly. One thing I find annoying is those moment when you show clips of popular movies while explaining about the display or audio. I am a huge fan of movies and tend to not watch anything (including trailers) related to a movie before actually watching it. And the scenes (probably they're from trailers) that you showed from Doctor Strange (Fold 4), Prey (OnePlus 10R) etc., are kind of spoilers to me. I didn't know Groot was there in the movie until I saw your video. One less surprise for me when I watch the movie :( See if you could change it to some demo 4K videos from YT / Samsung / LG or you could stick on to the clips of the same movie, at least it will be the only movie that will be spoilt. Just a humble request. Cheers.
Am I ready to take a Huawei... I mean Honor phone into my heart again after so long? To be honest, I loved every single Huawei phone I owned and even still have my Mate 20 Pro. I kind of missed the polish and build quality since then, here's hoping Honor can achieve similar.

I bought a Honor view 20 back in 2019 when I fell in love with the display model in John Lewis. It was the best phone I had ever had until last night when it got stolen. I went into the three store to get another SIM and browsed the phones on display and I found this Honor 70. I didn't want to even look at any other phones even though there were more affordable ones, simply because I knew how amazing these phones were. I bought a 256gb and took It home. I had lost all my contacts and files because I got it erased from Google but the Honor system had everything in back up. I was so relieved. The actual phone is amazing. The camera is excellent and watching videos is really nice and it's like watching it on an Oled TV. Honor is an underappreciated brand, I was surprised of the cost hike but I read about them going independent which makes sense. However, you still get more than what you pay for.
I'm still using this honor 70 after two years and it is and has been a terrific phone for under £400, battery life still excellent and charges 10 to 100% in 50 mins.
I've been searching for Huawei phones with google services. It's a good thing honor became an independent lineup, and still has google services. This will be my next phone
I used the Honor 8 few years till 2019, it's battery failed, I replaced battery, but the US embargo prevent me downloading OS. Replaced with OP7 Pro. But it's camera was so nice! Glad to see Honor back! Great video!
Just received one of these and reasonably impressed. Have noticed however that the charging socket is compatible with Samsung chargers, not the older or more recognised charger. I also recently purchased an adaptor for connecting headphones into the charging socket for my Samsung phone and which works perfectly well with the Honor Pad 8
This is going to be my next upgrade! I love the unique design to the camera layout which makes it stand out! Beautiful specs for a mid-range smartphone . The camera specs are very good especially with the sony sensor! Definitely a fan of this phone!
@@imbluecat7119 dropped it once, frame bent into screen so it's now smashed and there's a huge black spot. This happened 17 days into owmership and its half the cost of the phone to fix
Stunning phone which just got that prestigious EISA award Best Buy smartphone in 2022 🏆. Honor 70 already reviewed here in Finland🇫🇮 and both cameras were stellar! Far far better than Samsung Galaxy A52s with OIS. So OIS isn't everything, not at all. New Nokia X30 had like 3 days of glory and then it got crushed by Honor and the 3 new stunning Motorolas too: Edge Ultra, Edge Fusion, Edge Neo... all of them beats Nokia X30 hands down. X30 also costs much more than Honor 70 because it doesn't have a charger or a case either in the box as this Honor. And Nokia X30 has disappointing specs with Snapdragon 695, no stereo speakers, no SD card, no 4K video recording either, and much slower charging speed, and it looks quite ugly too especially on the backside with its camera module ugliest of the year award from me.
Still using a perfectly working Honor 20 that I love. No longer supported though so best time to change. Pixel 6 was purchased but due to dodgy feedback, it remains boxed, sealed & waiting to be returned. Love Honor and might go for this. cheers for review
@@LOUISVILLECARDINALS For me finger print was impossible to use, no matter how you scanned 9/10 times it wasn't working, Instagram was bugging out constantly, couldn't set up my company portal to have work Teams... and that's within one day of use, sent it back heartbroken, dissapointed in Pixel 6 considering how many people have the same issues.
Same situation here! I picked up the Huawei P50 Pro recently, and it's absolutely amazing! I'm using it mainly for the Top-notch Leica Camera setup. Planning to pick up the Honor 70, for regular phone use, esp with GMS apps :)
Ayeee, I'm currently using View 20 too but water got in yesterday and spolit the view of my screen but still usable though. Which phone did you replaced your View 20 with and how's your experience with it?
@@ooitzeyew3304 I bought the honor 70. It's pretty good although I do think there are times when the view 20 camera is better but then other times the 70 is better. I would say that overall the 70 is a great phone and looks like if costs a lot more.
The launcher is based on emui rather than colour OS. Infact it IS emui. I'm convinced Honor is still Huawei. They've just hoodwinked the yanks with this phoney "sale" of the company 😉. Great review Chris

Using it for two weeks and it's really excellent phone for it's price. i wasn't happy as honor 70's phone while i am using realme gt2 pro. Definitely king of mid range. 👑
@@jallamarvelous64 I bought it in Malaysia for about RM1, 800 (2,050 if you include airpods, screen protector and a back cover (although it comes with a basic back cover, and a pre-installed screen protector)). In total, that's about $500, but it's a big bang for the buck! I got the 8GB RAM ( along with 2GB Virtual RAM) + 256GB ROM version (non expandable)
Beeing unable to swipe anywhere to bring notification down is such a stupid decision, bravo. And The hole punch? I personally rather pull the popup camera literally with my fingers once a month than see the black dot the entire time.
A lot of things have changed in the last years. I now use Insta360 One X2 for a lot of photos so that the perfect camera in the phone isn't the most important issue to me anymore. So this one will be perfect. And I wear a bone conduction headset (type Aeropex) whenever I don't sleep so I don't need the speaker. I have a lot of custom industrial software on the phone which I use at my work and for this it will be perfect. I never play games so the frame rate is absolutely uninteresting. Even if I'm not a poor man I don't see any reason to pay 1000-1200 Euros for the next phone. This one will surely do.
I have been looking for a new phone for a few weeks now. Curently, I own Honor 8X - bought it in 2018. If the battery wasn't fucked after 4 years, I wouldn't change this phone at all. Also, during these years there have been accidents but nothing broke (no broken screen the beautiful blue back, nothing). I am very interested in Honor 70. I am glad Google is back. For me, I am not a fan od the edges but I can manage. Thanks for the review. It helped a lot.
Excellent no nonsense review. But Just bought one of these direct from Honor. I am replacing my Huawei P30pro, I know it won't have wireless charging or stereo speakers but both are low priority for me. This phone has a better screen and is lighter. Honor are currently offering the 256gb model with amazing discount and a band 7 watch. The deal I got for brand new, is a similar price to used ones on Ebay!
Yet another dig at SE, many pro don’t want a cinema in the bloody pocket not a gargantuan weight! The SE3 has its place, it’s a very nice phone as has great fingerprint reader, and is fabulous to carry out and about, also the camera tech minus a night view mode is actually quite impressive! The LCD panel is still very good even today, it’s sharp and vibrant and does all you’d need for a nice compact device. It was an iconic classic apple design, and a true gem in technology classics. I’m using one to write reply.

This Honor 70 would be a good choice if you don't want to spend too much money. The only issue coming from the Mate would be the lack of zoom here. If you need zoom and like the more bulkiness of a Mate the Magic 4 Pro definitely can fulfill your needs.
This is basically a Huawei P30 Pro put into a mangle to make it bigger and thinner, with some new cameras. Not that I'm complaining, I've had a P30 Pro for 3 years and adore it. Unfortunately it's dying slowly now, maybe found the perfect replacement? 🤔 PS looks like an absolute bargain for the price, especially with the free wireless earbuds bundle! 👍
@@jozigalm8159 yes and I've already swapped out for a Pixel 7 Pro. They're not that great day to day.. Software is very glitchy, camera is ok but shutter time and focus are terrible and even though it was in the best case I could find with a glass screen protector, it's somehow bent to the point of where the back covers seperated. I'll be selling it when it comes back from warranty repair.

Me, too. I am using huawei P30 as i am typing right now. It is the best phone so far that i owned. Its camera is pretty good too except for some back light shots.
Replaced my Huawei P30 Pro with one of these. Absolute steal with a £30 off discount code and free earbuds. Pretty much the same phone in feel and to use. Honor has a nicer screen and feels snappier in day to day use. Camera is about the same although P30 has a better zoom and OIS. Lack of official waterproofing isn't a massive issue, it has the exact same sim tray as the Huawei complete with rubber ring (trust me I got them mixed up!). Pretty confident it could survive a blast of rain or quick dunk in the bath. All in all, if you're in the boat I was in with a P20/P30 and want an upgrade, you should try one of these. It's more of an updated version of the older Huaweis than anything else IMO.
I've got a p30 pro, went to sim only a few months ago because the battery is still very very good and the phone is easily the best I've ever had. Looked at a fair few reviews of a few phones but this definitely caught my eye
@@ianbeeffreeman843 did the same as you, had my P30 Pro on a sim only for the past year, still worked perfectly and battery could easily still last a day. Fancied an upgrade and it was starting to show its age so I got this and so far, not regretting it! Screen is bigger, brighter and more responsive. Magic UI software is pretty much a clone of Huaweis EMUI so feels the same in day to day use. Only things I've noticed is the camera isn't as good, although still great unless you're a pro and its got a plastic back and sides rather than metal and glass. Saying that it's much lighter and easier on the hand which I like, and still feels premium!

This the first device that uses new sony imx800 and the photo sample been shot was stunning much sharper vibrant and the color calibration is very accurate 🤍
The removal of scroll down notification box is what made not like it. The Huawei update caused me to change phone, and this is stopping me getting honor. Stop watching at that point.
These Chinese cheap android tablets are fantastic value for money, a USBC headphone adapter works great, a couple of quid on line so that negative is cleared up.
P30 pro still has one of the best photography sistem nowadays, periscope lens which is way better than the iPhone 's lens, amazing portraits and night shot. It's absolutely amazing

Nice review Uncle Spurt. Is it HD+ did you say? For my ageing already Lasered and going to crap eyes that'll do nicely. I miss the curved edges from my Sammy S9. Funny how when you have it you hate it, then when it goes you miss it lol (like my Bowmore whiskey, now where did I put it... Hic).
Honor 70 is Full HD+ . Not HD+ which is much lower resolution and has much lower pixels per inch. HD+ means a 720p screen and a Full HD+ means a 1080p screen.

Watching this on my Honor 10 which I have owned for just over four years now and had had a lot of use. Brilliant phones 👍🏻.

My last 3 phones have been Honor - 7X, 10 lite, 50. They're really decent phones and excellent value for money

No OIS on a £475 phone seems a strange choice in 2022 - especially when the photography / video chops seem to be its USP 🤔

Magic UI is based on Huawei's Emotion UI if I am not mistaken. Color OS is OPPO's android skin 🤔
On recent Honor models, MagicUI isn't as well optimised as EMUI. Oneplus's skin OxygenOS is also based on ColorOS

The SE3 has its place, it’s a very nice phone as has great fingerprint reader, and is fabulous to carry out and about, also the camera tech minus a night view mode is actually quite impressive! The LCD panel is still very good even today, it’s sharp and vibrant and does all you’d need for a nice compact device. It was an iconic classic apple design, and a true gem in technology classics. I’m using one to write reply.

This Honor 70 would be a good choice if you don't want to spend too much money. The only issue coming from the Mate would be the lack of zoom here. If you need zoom and like the more bulkiness of a Mate the Magic 4 Pro definitely can fulfill your needs.

This is basically a Huawei P30 Pro put into a mangle to make it bigger and thinner, with some new cameras. Not that I'm complaining, I've had a P30 Pro for 3 years and adore it. Unfortunately it's dying slowly now, maybe found the perfect replacement? 🤔

@@jozigalm8159 yes and I've already swapped out for a Pixel 7 Pro. They're not that great day to day.. Software is very glitchy, camera is ok but shutter time and focus are terrible and even though it was in the best case I could find with a glass screen protector, it's somehow bent to the point of where the back covers seperated. I'll be selling it when it comes back from warranty repair.

Me, too. I am using huawei P30 as i am typing right now. It is the best phone so far that i owned. Its camera is pretty good too except for some back light shots.
It will miss the zoom I suppose. However for my son who's got a Mate10 pro this will probably be his update.
The honor magic 4 is much better tho the cam on honor 70 is so good
Replaced my Huawei P30 Pro with one of these. Absolute steal with a £30 off discount code and free earbuds. Pretty much the same phone in feel and to use. Honor has a nicer screen and feels snappier in day to day use. Camera is about the same although P30 has a better zoom and OIS. Lack of official waterproofing isn't a massive issue, it has the exact same sim tray as the Huawei complete with rubber ring (trust me I got them mixed up!). Pretty confident it could survive a blast of rain or quick dunk in the bath. All in all, if you're in the boat I was in with a P20/P30 and want an upgrade, you should try one of these. It's more of an updated version of the older Huaweis than anything else IMO.
I've got a p30 pro, went to sim only a few months ago because the battery is still very very good and the phone is easily the best I've ever had.
Looked at a fair few reviews of a few phones but this definitely caught my eye
@@ianbeeffreeman843 did the same as you, had my P30 Pro on a sim only for the past year, still worked perfectly and battery could easily still last a day. Fancied an upgrade and it was starting to show its age so I got this and so far, not regretting it! Screen is bigger, brighter and more responsive. Magic UI software is pretty much a clone of Huaweis EMUI so feels the same in day to day use. Only things I've noticed is the camera isn't as good, although still great unless you're a pro and its got a plastic back and sides rather than metal and glass. Saying that it's much lighter and easier on the hand which I like, and still feels premium!

The removal of scroll down notification box is what made not like it. The Huawei update caused me to change phone, and this is stopping me getting honor. Stop watching at that point.
These Chinese cheap android tablets are fantastic value for money, a USBC headphone adapter works great, a couple of quid on line so that negative is cleared up.

Honor 70 is Full HD+ . Not HD+ which is much lower resolution and has much lower pixels per inch. HD+ means a 720p screen and a Full HD+ means a 1080p screen.
It's a stunning curved screen make no mistake ✌️. A screen like this costs normally over 1000 Euros (900 pounds).
