I always wondered if you could filet a tagged fish or have to show it to a gamewarden before cutting it. So what happens to the tag after fileting it? Nice video.
You can keep it or throw it away. You can fillet a fish once you get to the mainland, not including a pier or jetties. That's why we waited till we got to the sand to fillet it.
When sliding bait like that do you look for clear calm water?... nice red fish!! My wife was like ahah his Goin to cut himself with the knife doing it like that jajaja great video guys!
When we slide line we will only do it when the water is green. Not much of a point in slide lining for Tarpon and Kingfish when the water is chocolate milk. Thanks lol definitely easier on a larger cutting surface but he improvised. Thanks for watching 💪
I'm not familiar with prebuilt surf rods to be able to recommend one to you. The American Rodsmith 2 piece rod that Ruben uses would be a perfect rod for an SX or MXL but they don't make them anymore. Just keep in mind that the reel foot on the SX is narrow so it might not work with all rods / reel seats.

Nothing beats Redfish on a half shell! Nice fillet technique. I’m sure it does work better on the slot reds!
