9:05 In a case where something like this happens, where Maciel was trying to turn Ruan to his back, could he have used the half nelson with his left hand himself to do so (similar to how Gordon turned Couch over)?

He could’ve but at that point (9:05 you mentioned) it’s already too late. The problem was the double underhook position and not switching back to the half Nelson earlier. Of course it’s easier said than done at that level.

Notice how Kennedy is framing on Ruan’s head though. Ruan’s left arm won’t be able to at that point
