You should film the areas more than you yourselves in the car !

Agreed! You'll see more of that in the coming videos! We were short on time - so we plan on filming more "on location" in future videos! Thanks for your comment and for tuning in into the channel! Great feedback, Ricardo! :-)

I'm from San Diego CA .I just moved to Lincolnton NC about 5 months ago I've been to Hickory several times since moving to NC .I agree the Mexican food here is good but not as good as in San Diego.I like it here in NC but just like anywhere it has it's pro's and con's .One issue I have is the pay ,if you are the average Joe/Jane you will make between $12.00& $18.00 per hour so even though the cost of living is lower you still can't afford a place for $1,500 per month. In San Diego you can still find Good areas for $1,300 to $1,800 per month .So this is what I kept telling my sister it's the same shit NC cheaper but they pay less CA more expensive but they pay more so if I can't afford to live in either place why move to NC when I can stay in a place I Love San Diego.NC is a good deal for those who all ready have money a degree some sort of trade or business or you transfer with your employer .I live with my sister I want to get my own place but I can't afford it because I only make $15.00 Hr driving a forklift .I'm seriously thinking about heading back west maybe not California but Reno Nevada .I just saw a janitorial job cleaning toilets in Reno Nevada starting at $25.00 Hr .I guess my point is it's the same shit here the cost of living is lower but the pay sucks in California you will get paid more but you will pay more for the cost of living ,same crapp different state/city/town whatever.

The moral of your story is that you need to upgrade your skill set. I can think of several different ways to earn a lot more than $15 an hour that do not require college and only require a small amount of money to start - less than $1000, in some cases a lot less.
Thought exercise: What could you do as a job to earn a living if no one would hire you now or ever? You have to figure it out and find a way on your own.
I can think of several ways.

@@Ready72000 I understand what you are saying but if that was the case I would just stay in California .I came to NC because my sister said it was more affordable it is for some but for others it's not .

@@RichardMctere Both California and NC are awash in opportunities but you have an employee mindset. What would you do if you could not get hired by anyone now or ever? You would have to provide a product or service that many people would want to buy.
Here is one idea: Go to a pick-a-part junk yard, buy used car parts for resale, then price them at double what you paid plus shipping and sell them online (eBay, Facebook Marketplace). People would pay that all day long for an item that they want, delivered to their house. You have no idea how profitable this could be. I’m not talking engines and transmissions, just smaller items that can be shipped in a box. The demand for used car parts is tremendous.
Idea number 2: Start a mobile car/boat/RV detailing business.
Idea number 3: Buy a used lawn mower and start a grass cutting business. Also rake leaves and weed landscaping. Advertising is free on Facebook.
There are many ways to earn money if you stop thinking like an employee and learn to think like a businessman.

@user-he4xb9fd5x That is the conundrum for many that are native to the area. My son refuses to come back because he is out west making a salary that matches his cost of living of living there. He is in the pacific NW and enjoys a broader outlook and the weather. This may be irrelevant for you but Hickory is very couple and family focused. That's a good thing, but singles and divorced ppl moving here will struggle with dating and a nice quality nightlife unless they are willing to travel outside the area. Good luck to you and the realtors!

As someone who lived in the City of Hickory and moved back into the country I will just say it’s growing quickly and so is the traffic and schools are getting packed out.
City of Hickory has spent a lot of money making their downtown look nice and offering lots of walking areas around the city. What they haven’t done is upgrade infrastructure (water/sewer/water run off/roads). With all the new builds and apartments across the City of Hickory these are things to keep in mind.
We loved being in the center of town and the modern conveniences, but when it came down to our needs and quality of life we decided to move about twenty minutes outside the city. The taxes are always rising and with all the new homes being built it’s very noisy and the schools are overwhelmed.

& stop calling it a TOWN it’s a City ! Town of Catawba, Town of Taylorsville, City of Hickory, City of Conover - it’s frustrating as someone who grew up here to hear these places called by the wrong name.
Go to JDs BBQ in Gamewell for good BBQ

@@mirandavanhorn8431 Thank you for your comment! We agree - with the influx of new residents, the infrastructure will continue to need to grow to support that! We do find ourselves stating it has a "small town" vibe - but of course, you are correct - Hickory is a City ;-) ...and I also support your suggestion to try JDs BBQ! It's definitely a local fave ;-) We could do a whole video on local BBQ places, and would have to make the list! Thanks for watching!
