Thanks Rodney, to be honest, I had considered adding a diode laser to my MPCNC but I got the opportunity to try this one so jumped at it. I am loving the laser capabilities.
I have zero interest in laser cutting but have learned alot from your freecad info! Thanks a ton. :) Now if I can only slot a damn cylinder without it selecting the entire circle!
This is a great start, and it works well for a simple box, but I'm killing myself here trying to make internal dividers in the box. I guess I don't really understand how FreeCAD treats the panels created by the "box" part of this - I figured out how to _duplicate_ a panel (and change its position), but not to create a thinner one inside. I think I don't understand what FreeCAD considers one of the "panels" to actually be, so creating a new one has me completely confused. Still, this helped me figure out at least _some_ of the LCInterlocking workbench. Until I figure out the stuff I'm missing, though, I might still just sketch things up in Inkscape. Thanks!
I appreciate your videos. I was really looking forward to this WB. I tried this on the new weekly builds and I can't get it to export correctly. It mostly works, but then I'm stuck cleaning up the SVG file in Blender. It just doesn't cut all the way through on all of them for some reason for me. It seems hit or miss. I have redesigned, reassembled, reset it up a half dozen times, and I'm feeling defeated at this point. Have you tried in any of the newer builds by any chance?
Funny you should ask, I have been creating lots of boxes with the lasercut workbench and they work very well with 0.22. I will be creating some videos on them.
@@Adventuresincreation My goodness. I'm really having a difficult time. I've gotten all the way to the end to the SVG, export_shape part, but the cutouts keep leaving a face behind; some, but not all. I have reassembled multiple times and everything. I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong. I am producing it form an A2Plus assembly. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I re-did a bunch of relationships hoping that was it. Are you in the .22 stable release? I have been using weekly builds 36996, 37668, 37928. I just assumed it had to do with the TNP fix they are working through. I am still new to FreeCAD so I could very well be overlooking something too.
@@Adventuresincreation I'll try again with a different model. To get through this one, I just went through the process like normal and exported to the layout file. Then used a ShapeBinder and External Geometry to reconstruct the sketch for SVG export. It obviously took me a hot minute, but much faster than drawing from scratch. Thanks again.
I have version 0.20.2 installed and I don't have this add-on and after opening the manager I can't find LSR. My addon manager looks completely different, I can't search for addons wtf?
I have seen that issue, if you are on windows uninstall and reinstall freecad. If you you are on anything else Google search, I think there is a download you can find.
@@Adventuresincreation I was looking for a way to do it within the LC.interlocking. box function. but it looks like i will have to make the box in part design and then move it over to LCinterlocking to do the tabs.

You have once again piqued my interest, never ceases to amaze me how much I enjoy your style of instruction and your videos, keep 'em coming Ian!

I know laser cutting is not for everyone. I now have access to a trio of manufacturing techniques along with the good old manual approach.

I am sure you can figure it out.
Since it's enclosed, you can eliminate any possibilityof fire by flooding with co2
Good idea

Where is did the yellow start new part icon go (0.21.1)?
I think it's still there. Did you reorganize yours?
Great video. Very informative! But the air assist is a kind of improvement in our future list to do the upgrade!
Great, thanks for the feedback ☺️

Nice useful video, got me going very quickly, but I also want to cut holes in the sides. Have you found a way to do this?
It very easy to cut holes too. You could model them into the box in FreeCAD or add them later in LightBurn.

Cool.
It really is pretty cool. I think you can do the same thing in wood very easily
add co2 assist to laser to prevent fires and assist in cutting
Where do you get that from?

@@Adventuresincreation Any welding supply shop, they use co2 in paint guns as well.
Nice.
Thanks!
