I finally got a chance to dump the change into the machine. Came out to $728.66 - several coins returned, Canadian, a 1951 Quarter and several wheat pennies including one from 1919.
Word of advice: ALWAYS write the e-card code # down since it definitely will magically wear off pretty quickly on your receipt. Without that number you're out of luck when trying to use it on Amazon or Best Buy or whatever store you selected. I wonder if Coinstar did that on purpose knowing that the vouchers will get unused if the numbers wear off.....hmmmmm.
@@SidsTips -Correct. Actually, when I got home I loaded it into my Amazon.com account. But still kept the voucher anyway to experiment, and if you leave it in your wallet or fold it up, the ink wears off within a week or two. But a picture is a good idea too.
This was very helpful, thank you. I filled-up (2) 1 gallon ice tea containers, they way about 35-40 pounds each now. I kept track in an excel spreadsheet for one of them and in 2 years, it was around $446. Now I just need to make some time to dump all of this change in the machine.
Tip: 10.9% kept by coinatar is a lot, so I separate my quarters beforehand, either manually or coin separation trays from Amazon. I roll those with a coin counting rolling tube (Amazon) while watching tv & deposit at the bank. The rest go to gift cards I know I will use, such as Amazon, Home Depot/Lowes, etc. I pour until I get the amount I want per card. Then repeat for the next card(paper receipts with a code & pin#). Nothing is taken out when getting gift cards. 💪
Some banks and credit unions have their own coin counter machines. If you are a customer, or member of said bank, they might not charge a fee for you to use the machine.
I took my change to a Coinstar at Walmart, expecting to receive Walmart credit or another option. However, the only available options were for places I don't visit, and the Walmart credit was not provided. In the end, I was charged nearly thirteen percent for the exchange.
I hope you checked those Quarters to make sure they weren't pre-1965, because those might be worth $3.50 in silver melt value and at least an additional $3.50 in collector's value, last time I checked. Keep those precious metals in the hands of We The People!
Just remember to check the rejected slot when you dump that much in. I went to use one, and found like 6 dollars in quarters left by whomever used it before me.
I have so much change I can't carry it. do you guys know those big popcorn tins they sell around xmas? That tin is filled with coins and I wouldn't be able to carry it.
+Brian Ertley There's only a few if you want cash money to spend on anything, while there's 0 fee if you want it in gift card form instead. These coin slot machines have to do this because they are following state law due to taxes. if you haven't paid recent attention, Colorado recently went to Newegg and asked if Newegg would send all of there online users transactions to Colorado and anything you bought on Newegg if you lived in Colorado that had no taxes on it, the state is now taking those taxes which people basically owed the entire time. Can range from anywhere from $200 to over $3,000. This is why I buy things with gift cards usually, don't have to pay any taxes at all because the company handles that.
@@SidsTips I mean like if you want it in cash and receive the recipe where would you go, like do you gotta go where the cashier is and show him the recipe?😅
As a collector my self I'm concerned because I looked through my coin jar the other day and I found 4 wheats one of them was a 1928 wheat and also 1964 and earlier all dollars, halfdollars , qrts , and comes were 90% silver and there are a bunch of error coins in the U.S so lesson to be learned always look through your coins before you dump at coinstar.
Does it give you an actual gift card or do you take the receipt to the cashier and they give you one or how does it work I will be going in a couple days
But not everyone got an Amazon account or use it. I have seen that some machines let you choose other companys instead of Amazon. And some things can't be bought on Amazon, so getting cash is most wanted if you want to buy food. (or can you buy food on Amazon?) :)
Someone just told me the coinstar machine makes fake change counting sounds and takes longer to print your receipt because it actually gets done faster than people believe their money is counted.
you should really look at your coins some of them could be silver or rare coins, if you see a quarter or dime from 1964 or older its silver for nickels 1943 ,1942 are 40% silver and here's a really rare coin, if you find a 1943 copper penny its worth 1,000,000$ so really check your coins 😁😁😁😁
did anyone else notice that the company sends people from coinstar to take the silver out of the reject box and send it back to the Feds to get melted? at least at the shoprite I work at.
Since when they started this? Only member ship is good for is lower fee and more choices than gift card such as being irect deposited to a bank account or prepaid debit card.
i recently took a large bowl of quarters and came out to over 500 dollars.
change adds up
Yes it does!

Gutts31 how did they "return" did the coinstar just spit them back out
Yes, coinstar spit them back out. 10 Wheat Pennies.
Gutts31 nice to find a silver quarter
I had an 1886 Silver Dollar returned to me, turns out it was worth 75$ itself 😂

This paper is very common for what many retailers are using now.
Just load it onto your account
The video is over 3 years old. Does COINSTAR _still_ not charge you for the service when opting for an Amazon E-gift card?

After seeing this video of what the heck this machine does, I NEED TO SAVE IMMEDIATELY!
You should be good with a machine like this then. It is quick.
I got up to $714.83 dollars and I’m 11
Did you pay a fee

I probably should have, but did not think about it.

Nice score. Hopefully there was some silver in that
so do you have to put them in separate values or can they be mixed?
Can be mixed.
Thanks! It's my question too !!!!
Thanks for sharing! I passed by one of these machines today at Walmart, came home and looked like I had about as much change as you had! :-D
+Jim Bembenek You bet. Glad you found a machine.
I have so much change I can't carry it. do you guys know those big popcorn tins they sell around xmas? That tin is filled with coins and I wouldn't be able to carry it.
U don't have to sperate coins machine will do it for you
Albert150 Dez I think he just had them separated for himself rather than for the machine
That’s a rope off doing at the Coinstar machine store when you do it for free at the bank
Man id love to know how many silver quarters and dimes u tossed in that machine
John Parrinello as far as I know the machine rejects silver
Nice video and thanks for taking the time to post it.
You bet :)
These are the way to set aside and save
I have a ammo box of coins it’s almost full! I can’t wait to cash it in!

Sure thing
How long will you saving them
I had them for several years and was moving so I needed to something with the change.
Thank you for shearing this video it was really helpful .
Glad it was helpful.
This hamster is really good at saving coins.
That should be enough money to buy another beer.
did you check for old.coins
I should have, but did not.
This type of machine is a very cool thing :) and they've just added bitcoin... , now its even better!
Do u have to categorize it
Quarters pennies dimes seperately??
No. Just pour it in.
I would never use this machine. My credit union has its own machine which is faster and as a member there is no fee.

Nope
Great video guy! I love coin videos super fun!!!
Thanks! It is fun when you hear cha-ching :)
Wait after you receive your recipe where do you have to go next to get your money?
It's all done instant for you. Depends what option you choose.
@@SidsTips I mean like if you want it in cash and receive the recipe where would you go, like do you gotta go where the cashier is and show him the recipe?😅
Not sure. I would not recommend going that way since they charge a fee. Get a gift card.
did you keep the silver?
I wish I had gone through it, but I did not and dumped it all into the machine.
So you can only shop with that money online?
Or can you actually exchange it for cash ? I'm confused
There are different options you can choose from.
Do you need to sort the coins out?
Nope.
I wish that places where I live have it

Coinstar rejects silver coins, because the weight and composition are different.
You need to check the coin rejects.
Do you have to separate the coins or does the machine do it for you
The machine does it for you.
can i found one of this on walmart?
I am not sure. You can check on the coinstar site I am sure.
im gonna save up now cause i already have a lot of cents lol
I get it.
So you have to separate the coins under same denomination before putting in?
Just put it all in. It will calculate it out.
I'm sorry in which country I can find this coin star is it working with euro?
I am not sure. Check their website
Do u have to put the coins in one section for each coin ???
Just throw them a all in at the same time.

Yes for cash. No for a gift card.

Are you able to get coins out of the machine if you pay with bills?
No.
Of course you can. You have to say "Get change" into the speaker and follow the prompts. The speakers are really cheap so you really have to speak up.
Did it show you a redeem code for that Gift card from what you've selected when you get that receive?
Yep, it sure does.

Not sure what they offer now.
Is that machine giving the exact amount of your money? Are they getting some amount for tax?
It's supposed to be a small fee but I'll still take the money
Do you have to use a debit or credit card with this machine?
No. If you take the cash voucher it's 100% anonymous; you just have a percentage taken out of your total as a fee for using the machine.
KOOLNESS !

Sure would suck if you had some ultra rare coins in there!
it rejects silver ones, did with my quarters and dimes
Where are you located what state ?
This was in Delray Beach, FL at the time at the Winn Dixie.
you should really look at your coins some of them could be silver or rare coins, if you see a quarter or dime from 1964 or older its silver for nickels 1943 ,1942 are 40% silver and here's a really rare coin, if you find a 1943 copper penny its worth 1,000,000$ so really check your coins 😁😁😁😁
Jerry Salinas when it comes to the silver coins the machine rejects any silver with the exception of half dollars
1944 and 1945 were also silver for nickels.
War nickels are 35% silver
Yes, but before anyone gets too excited, only about 40 of those 1843 pennies were produced, I believe.
