I now realise how privileged I was to see the original lineup in the early '80s. Three fabulously talented guys and for me this is arguably their greatest live recordings. They will 'rock on' for ever.
My first introduction to the might Motörhead in 1980 , seen then 3 times in that era ! What fantastic times to be 16 as heavy metal etc was exploding into the scene !
only really discovered the music after Lemmy passed Always admired his style and integrity As an old punk I regarded him as an honourary punk but never realised how 'punk' they were in the early years.. I guess a lot is on the production, but personally I love these really raw recordings Whatever, great upload .. thank you very much !
And the Lord said "Let there be Lemmy, the King of all King of Rock. " Sorry Elvis but Motorhead Reigns. Rock in Peace Uncle Lemmy, the world is going to miss you.
Have this on my ten plus yr old CD of bomber...this version of..stone dead....is one of the greatest live versions of a tune...I’ve ever heard..the outdo jam.IS rock n roll...
Still looking for the complete recording of this show at the Dutch Lochem Pop festival. It's out there as an unofficial release. I consider this as one of their best live recordings..Classic !
Greatest EP of all time..ive read Lemmy wasbt keen on tgr sound but for me its killer..Met Lemmy in the Limelight club in NYC in 93 and told him its the greatest... Bouhht him a drink and departed.no bull just a fantastic sound...
Hai foxdog8, bomber deluxe edition includes the 4 numbers of this EP. Fucking good, i played the EP al lot when i was in my younger days(48 now), but stil i love it, play i real hard, the neighbours must think there is a party going on i supose!!!!

jejeje Lemmy canta ...´¨ youre a financial wizard , a top tyconn,........´´ al medio de la cancion y ¨¨ it´s been a long time, been a long, long wait....´´ al final..
The first time I heard this version of Leaving here was on a tape cassette of No Remorse-put out on Roadrunner. Not to rain on anybody's parade but it didn't have that stupid dubbed applause at the beginning and end. When I got a cd of No Remorse I noticed that-it's fake-they're playing in some small club and the record company (or somebody) dubbed fake arena applause in.
You reply suggests that you are unaware of just how popular Motorhead were in the U.K at the time this came out, the crowd noise may well have been dubbed in, in fact it's likely that a lot of it was redone in the studio. It was common practice at the time. But there was no way that it was recorded at some small club because Motorhead were selling big numbers of records and selling out venues like the Hammersmith & Birmingham Odeons capacity of about 3500 & 2500 respectively.
Millie Burton Actually I knew how popular they were-in a really vague way-when they toured the U.K. with Ozzy Osbourne THEY headlined over him. I have another cassette of Motorhead actually playing a relatively small club-my copys called Whats Words Worth-it's a bootleg that also goes under the name Live 1978 and it's also been released as Iron Fist and The Hordes From Hell. When they started out they were playing small clubs, and Leaving Here IS one of their earliest tunes...
What's words worth was recorded in Jan 78 and The Golden Years EP in 1980, in between they had two hit albums. I'm not arguing that Leaving Here is an old tune, it's a cover of an even older tune and they played it at their first gig in '75.. I'm not even arguing that the crowd noise on TGY sounds dubbed on. My only argument is that they were playing small clubs at the time it was recorded, they were not. My guess is that it was a hastily recorded effort (probably in the studio) designed to keep the momentum that the band had built up going (because I can find no info on where it was recorded) until the release of Ace of Spades. Both are great but you must hear a complete difference in the band in between the two recordings.
I politely disagree with your theory, and I'll explain why. To carry on from what Slankisam said, the original CD release of No Remorse ommitted Leaving Here but included Too Late Too Late from The Golden Years. That has applause during the intro and outro, although it's much lower in the mix than on The Golden Years. Also, it begins with a stray bass note from Lemmy, which doesn't appear on The Golden Years. So it would seem there was some "sprinkling of glitter" upon the tapes, but nothing to suggest the music itself was anything but live. One other thing to bear in mind regarding the possible deliberate faking of these tracks as live recordings; Motorhead were not the kind of band who would knowingly do such a thing. Can you imagine Lemmy, of all people, agreeing to go into a studio to re-record a bunch tracks with the intention of them being overdubbed with fake applause and sold to the fans as live recordings?
Seeing some shite, laughable, dated Judy Priest live from '84 and then realising how timeless the 'head are...pure r'n'r as their founder called it. And Stone Dead Forever an absolute beast....Sheer fucking energy....Anybody that understands rock music will realise this is not metal!
+Ian Ren Actually, there's an out-of-print version of No Sleep that features The Golden Years as bonus tracks. A really great idea to combine the two releases, but sadly it's rather difficult to come by.
I have to agree this recording is better than No Sleep Til Hammersmith, not only in terms of performance but of mix. We can only dream that one day somebody may find the complete tape of this gig in an archive somewhere and unleash it upon us. That would be a fantastic tribute to Lemmy.
+Neil Purcell You can find the golden years in the bonus tracks of bomber nowadays (at least in france) However, some people say the recent cd have bad mix
Had this on 10 and 12 inch vinyl, some bastard stole the 10" cz it was worth more than the 12", good idea of who it was but couldn't prove it, If I could have he'd still be in a wheelchair.
I'm pretty sure it's Lochem pop. Just see the note under the setlist. www.setlist.fm/setlist/motorhead/1980/openluchttheater-lochem-netherlands-3daedd3.html

My friend met Lemmy. Lucky girl
Seen lem once in 84. So fucking loud . After all these years he is still the badest mfr that ever lived
I was there, in Hamburg in 1998. Back then it was just one fucking awesome concert...now it's a legend.
This isn't just their greatest live recording. It is THE greatest live recording.
Still got this EP. The best of Motorhead I reckon
They were always MOTORHEAD and they always played ROCK N ROLL! R.i.p.all the heads we have lost.
Stone Dead Forever is definitely a masterpiece.

I bought this 12" in 1980 when i was 15. Still love it! The mix is so good, and the guitar is so raw.....
