I've got to say your videos are an excellent peek into some Japanese culture. You are good at what you do definitely keep my interest peeked from start to finish. Very much a fan.... nice work..
Fun throwback. My son and I took the wrong train to our hotel the first time we traveled to Japan. We got off, I was nervous as wrecked we don't know where we're at. While waiting for the correct train on the platform, I felt so overwhelmed. I got culture shock suddenly looking around at the billboards. I told my son I wanna go back home:(. As soon as I turned my head around and saw this udon place and more food stalls with assorted snacks and sweets carefully wrapped in cuteness overload papers, the excitement came rushing back in. The anxiety attack disappeared in seconds. Best trip ever!
@@tysonristau4995 thank you for your feedback. I don't recall being hungry it was more on being on a strange, unfamiliar territory and not being able to read or speak the language. I remembered asking someone for direction and he was very helpful and friendly. That helped calmed the nerves a lot. It all worked out in the end.
@@missplainjane3905 thank you for your question. YESSSSSS!!!!!!! A year later we actually came back with other family members. We have relatives in Shizuoka so it was a blast reuniting with everyone. My other son is going back in January. I could have gone with him but he booked his tix months ago.
My girl and i ate at a udon/soba shop on the train platform in shinagawa station. We got off the train, was going to head to the shinkansen upstairs. But we stumbled upon that shop while looking for the elevator. We decided to eat there since we were a couple of hours ahead of schedule. It was pretty much what the first shop in this video served. It was so good. I couldn't believe food in a train platform can taste so good.
My favorite food is the curry udon with chikuwa tempura at Nankai Soba in Namba Station, Nankai Railway, Namba, Osaka! It's a masterpiece that combines curry soup and udon broth! It's served within 30 seconds of ordering! The soup bases for soba and udon noodles are different: in Kanto (eastern Japan), the soup is soy sauce-based and salty and dry, while in Kansai (western Japan), it is kelp and bonito-based and has a strong umami flavor and is thin, so it is good to compare the two.
This time last year I considered crypto without much knowledge and decided to have a consultation with a fiduciary, and it was incredibly insightful. I got into the market with 15k, One year and a couple of months in, and I'm up with 550k. I truly cannot stress enough how helpful experts in this field are!
As a Japanese person, I recommend Yayoiken, which is located at Abiko Station on the JR Joban Line. The soba noodles topped with super-large pieces of fried chicken are a local food that is famous among people who like to eat soba while standing. Abiko Station is located in Chiba Prefecture, and is a little far from the center of Tokyo. It may be a little difficult for beginners to visit. Also, the fact that the ticket machine only displays Japanese may be a hurdle. But I guarantee the taste.
Gotanda was my home base during my trip. I was a bit confused at why there was a restaurant right in the middle of the platform.😂 I didn’t try it because I wasn’t sure if they were English-friendly but I’ll give it a try next time. There’s actually a very similar restaurant downstairs that I visited several times. I love the simplicity of these types of places.
I love these! Food stands are my favorites because you often get a delicious made to ready meal so it's freshly prepared! I love a quick delicious food spot that I can take a quick seat at and then pick up food for the trip back home lol
I did not even realize they had this at train stations when I went 7 years ago. I was always so focused on making sure I found and got on the correct trains I never noticed this. Hopefully I can check one out if I go again in the future. I always love the videos you do with food.
Thanking you on your videos on Japan and its people I've learnt about things in Japan do's and don'ts Happy New year to you and your family and RUclips viewers too.
Ooh how about a day in the life of cook at one of these amazing restaurants? Also all I want right now is some good tonkatsu. I miss the food in Japan.

I definitely did see those types of places on the platforms when I last visited japan. I love that theres great value at places like that. Im very curious about the akihabara one. Imma check it out next time! Looked so gooood.
And I didn't think Japanese train stations could get any better, I didn't spot any of these type of shops when we were there, that tonkotsu looked pretty darn good for something from a vending machine
You know Maiko was peturbed editing this 'oh, there he is again, with the good food', does he say honey let's go eat here, nooooooo 😂. Joking aside I do love all of the food videos on the channel, everything from restaurants, to takeout, conveni, mom and pop places to train food stands it's all prepared to the highest of standards
Ate at this udon shop on the Kyoto Line platform at Kyoto station on my way back from a day in Osaka on my recent trip. I was so hungry from the journey, even after eating a bunch at Dotonbori, because I accidentally took the local train instead of the express. Coming off the train, the shop was right there beckoning me to come in. Got a bowl of kitsune udon and it perked me right up. Sometimes these shops can really save your life.
Good one, a very interesting subculture in Japan, these really need more support especially with more options given by convenience stores and cafes, it may soon become harder for them to compete!
I ate at soba shops that has ordering machines or shops w/younger attendants for ease of communication. Their sobas are delicious and filling and doesn’t cost a lot.
Soba noodle is a mainstream food in Tokyo and Yokohama. At Kyoto and Osaka stations, there are Udon noodle stores. In Nagoya, there are Kishimen noodle shops, and in Fukuoka, there are Hakata Ramen noodle shops.
It’s so nice to see that most of these places have foreign staff! If anything, working at the subway seems like a good level of integration with the society.
I just came across your vlogs about Japan and its lifestyle, and it has become like an addiction to watching those ;⠀like many others, I get to know so much about Japan from your vlogs. @udaynautiyal9376 Not really. But given the significant language barrier, you will almost never see an "immigrant" manning a counter like that. But that is what makes it fascinating, and an interesting story to tell. It's not meant to be a critical thing. Not everything needs to be an argument.
