    This is such a cute little transit system. It's looks like it's really convenient, since so many stations are located in the built-up estate areas.

    • @Wolvenworks
      @Wolvenworks 4 года назад +14

      it's certainly an aesthetic sense that is completely foreign to my government and its undying love for ugly grey concrete pillars.

    • @UltimateAlgorithm
      @UltimateAlgorithm 3 года назад +3

      @@Wolvenworks ugly grey concrete pillars works and it is relatively cheap to build. Japan is a rich country with a lot of budget to spend on aesthetics. For a transit system, I would say function over form is the most important thing to consider.

    • @Wolvenworks
      @Wolvenworks 3 года назад +2

      @@UltimateAlgorithm true. indonesia is about a few decades behind in terms of infrastructure...IMO we care about aesthetics too, but in a cheaper way in the form of plants. ironically Jakarta is still heavily polluted and smoky despite all the trees and flowers lmao.

    • @UltimateAlgorithm
      @UltimateAlgorithm 3 года назад +2

      @@Wolvenworks pollution is hard to solve, even modern high tech city like Hong Kong and Shanghai are still heavily polluted. Most clean cities like in Japan and Europe have move much of their industry to services. Indonesia, China and others still rely on factories that comes with pollution as the cost.
      Edit: also functionality comes first, aesthetic only matters when you are rich. Take a look at China for example, exactly the same boring design for their high speed rail. Yet it helps their people and economy a lot.

      There are so many good videos of train rides around Japan here. While not the same physical experience of a real ride, I enjoy just looking at the scenery. Being able to stop the video, go back for a second look, is in a way better than passing something a speed and not able to appreciate it. I often follow the video journey on Google maps and satellite view to get a better appreciation of the surrounding area.

    This is very cool, and I'm glad the Total Recall taxi driver found some work after the movie, but it seems a huge amount of infrastructure for something which spends most of the time directly above perfectly good roads. Not sure I'd want any of that great hulking edifice obscuring the sky in my town! Although, to be fair, my town isn't built into a mountainside. Still a cool trip and thanks for sharing.
