I still can't believe we got a boss fight against a SENTIENT TRAIN in a Sonic game. Like, it sounds like something completely in line for the series, but also unpredictable. We've seen trains, we've fought sentient robots, so how could we not have seen this possibility.
It gets funnier when you think about how this boss fight is from a visual novel
And the story was written by some of the crew from the IDW comics, so there is definitely no way we could've seen any of this coming
It was just supposed to be a funny little april fools game. Yet the writing and characters were done so well, it's got to be accepted as canon.

I enjoyed that part. Although realistically, Espio shooting me with a poisoned dart would have been more apt.

0:43 I love how the music changes when Sonic goes into a spin here. Reminds me a lot of Sonic X, and that's one of the many things from Sonic X that I loved. Nice animation!
I feel like any fight with Sonic needs to be on par with the opening animation of Unleashed. You need that speed, power, sound design, everything, to feel how powerful Sonic really is.
If Sonic was trying, he'd have destroyed the train in one shot from the start.
Which is exactly why it’s more fun for him to be nerfed. Wouldn’t have gotten this whole animation if he could just have done it in one shot.
Yeah, if Sonic was TRYING. But Sonic likes the thrill of adventure, and the train is a relatively low threat, so obviously he wouldn't be trying super hard and would be trying to have fun with it.

Also I’d just like to point out that if Sonic really could destroy a train like that in one shot, then why couldn’t he have just destroyed the G.U.N. Truck from City Escape either of the two times he saw it? Not only that, but there are PEOPLE in this train. His friends and the Conductor. Plus everyone was trying their best to convince the train to just let him go, one could assume he wanted to give him a chance.
Nah, fiction becomes much less fun when you view it through the power levels lens.
Sonic not being the multiverse level god of speed, fits much better in this game and makes it more cohesive and enjoyable.

You're the first person I've given this rating, usually animation has some weird style of humor or nonsense, but here everything is so well conveyed and done that I don't even know how best to express my enjoyment of this work.
I just like how casual Sonic takes off to catch up to the train. it's like the train is moving so slow he might as well have some fun getting back.
Sonic is such a fun character to see animated, just because of how integral that fluidity is to the games, and you captured it *amazingly!* I also loved your take on the train turning to face Sonic at the end, since I never quite understood that, logistically :D

I know he doesn't actually die in the game, but the way it goes from him triumphantly leaping forward to "THE MURDER OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG" has some funny implications
