you first level the machine then you adjust the "levels". If you look at the mounting of the levels you can see a "nut" on both the top and bottom of the lugs on each level... The nuts have small holes that a pin, I use a small drill bit, can be inserted into and by moving the nuts you can get the vials centered. On a lathe I adjust the vials on the tail stock end of the bed... Most lathes have very little wear there..... Then you move the tool down the ways and see how much the ways are worn... This tool is especially useful to measure the difference in wear from side to side of the ways... I always run either a tool like this or the bottom of the lathes tailstock on the inner tailstock ways ( Hardly any wear there) to measure the total wear in heights of the outer rails....

I like you and your content sir
Thanks!
What a glorious straight edge on the right!
Heavy too !
That’s the way it’s done. And the smaller the part, the bigger the machine.
Boy I need me one of these. Nice job.
Not hard to make, just a little expensive for the good vials ...
Very good job of explaining your process.
Thanks! It's all about the process.
Greetings from Nacogdoches. More expert work from a true craftsman.
THanks!
Very nice work sir.
Many thanks
Olá amigo Steve!!!

Abraço e boa sorte sempre!!!
Obrigado senhor
lol, your CAD and my CAD Are two different things…
I’m still operating in “cardboard assisted design”
I think ours “C’s” are off 😂
I also do that sometimes :) CAD, well my kind of CAD is not always the fastest way to do something :)
I see that you are a little impressed with SpaceX.
Me too!
Really? What is this SpaceX you speak of????

Hello from the land of kiwis
Hi from the land of no rain! Well sometimes... Had 57 inches the first 7 months of this year then 0 since then...
Do you have to level the machine or is there a way to “level” the levels? I’ve never seen this done before and trying to figure out how it works.
