    As a child, we had what we called burrs that looked similar to that dried picture shown. We never had tall growth, only short. The burrs would get between the pads of our dog's toes and get under their skin and travel up the leg or in their ears. They were always removed immediately. The vet said the burrs in the ears would have cost them their hearing, and then their lives. Those burrs would get brought in by the dogs, and they would get in the carpet, and we would have to pick them out one by one. A vacuum would only push them farther in to the carpet. They don't look it, but they are no joke. If you got them, get rid of them. They didn't have herbicide safe for home use in 1972 that I know of.

    Good description, I read in one place only the tops of the leaves are hairy
