Hey guys it’s Ramona Lianna mom we meet in Martinique we are in st Martin just wanted to wish you guys luck on finding a catamaran I find a catamaran is the best boat you can buy especially when you have kids your son is going to love it hope we will see each other again one day tell Rivers Lianna and Nikera and Arianna says 👋
@@SailAwayVlog hey guys we are planning to sail to the grenadines so we might see each other sooner than we think 😊but if it doesn’t happen there we will keep following you guys to see where you are heading and if we are heading the same direction I will leave you a message good luck with your catamaran search
It's hard not to argue with your strategy starting with a boat out of your range. Wanting what we can't afford and settling for less is part of life. With rising prices, I face it at the grocery store every week.💰 That was fun to watch.
This is an exciting new adventure ! Obviously there's no perfect boat but you'll find something terrific , with patience. Thankfully many of the existing RUclipsrs give us a close-up of their fine yachts every week. No need to reinvent the wheel.
Eric I’m sure you will work it all out. You did say “project” so - project it is. You will end up with the boat you really love. Can’t wait to watch your progress. Cheers
Great review, I am so sad I have to sell mine. Will for sure refer your video to see what the boat was like before it was converted from a charter boat.
OMG!!! SO EXCITING!!! I have so much catching up to do! That is one beautiful boat!!! I could definitely see you guys living it. You deserve it!!! Buy it!!! 😂 wish it was that easy… Best wishes going forward!
You can often offer sellers 100k less than asking price and they sell .. limited buyers and the upkeep of these boats … I’ve seen it done many times … good luck happy hunting.. don’t be scared to make silly bids .. miracles some times happen.. the worst they can say is no 😆 .. great channel easy to watch … good luck you guys … 👋
Thank you! And yes, I’ve heard stories of that as well and we’re certainly not above it. I will say it’s not very common right now though. Catamarans especially are just in really high demand.
It will be your home so pick what you want and need. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Looking forward to seeing the next video. 😀

If so I assume at least one underbed area free of tanks, electrical gear, watermaker etc. is part of your criteria. Do you expect to have more space than you need so some could be devoted to a workshop? Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! ⛵❤️😁
Thanks! I don’t really need a ton of space. I’m hoping to have just enough floor space for a chair, then some way to orient a relatively small microphone hood…shouldn’t require too much destruction!
The thing about your lifestyle is how wonderful it is for your child Rivers though I guess you know his name so that is redundant :) Sure from his point of view everyday is a holiday in exotic locations but more or less by osmosis he will pick up so many skills experiences and instill correct attitudes that he will be far above his contemporaries when he leaves the nest to go to university or start his own way in life.
Nice video. Similar scoring from my wife and I. Sadly, the exploding market recently is the only thing putting this vessel out of your price range. I spoke to a number of Moorings Leopard 48 buyers up to around Dec 2021, and they were able to offer Moorings high $300K/just under $400K for their damaged and professionally repaired 48s. The seller's market has put an end to those days.
I say make a offer . Go low . You never know . lol Just remember you will need upgrades . Water maker , maybe Lithium batteries instead of the AGM it came with , washer/ dryer , lots of solar , just to name a few . Well guess you should look at more boats before you make a offer . That boat was a beauty and checked a lot of the boxes you are looking for in a home . A question , was this boat a recent refit ? Like new sails , rigging , electrical , windlass , engines & drives . I wish you told more about the damage from the hurricane . Best of luck finding your next home ⛵🏡
Yep, that’ll be true of most boats, especially those coming out of charter. Either that or pay a premium for a recently outfitted boat. Time will tell I guess!

yes there's lots of storage space, but that's it, SPACE.. as soon as you start filling the space you defeat one of the catamarans benefits, being speed. Have you looked at the larger 50+ monos? half the cost with 5 proper cabins.

Great choice to me, but I'd go for an older model from about 2013 with real wood veneer instead of these plastic surfaces. It's not only a better livability to me, it's a matter of quality as well. There were a lot of cases where the plastic edges came loose and they're hard to glue back on as they were hot glued or with contact glue.

Nothing wrong with a low offer but i I'm under the impression there's a very high demand for catamarans. I'm sure you've noticed some of the popular RUclipsrs have sold their boats are having trouble finding a replacement
We have thought about those locations, but moving from one Boat to another, the logistics would just be too much. Regarding offers though, I think there are some that low offers could work on, but they’re more the older fixer uppers. The more ready to go boats are in very high demand.
Generally that’s good advice. Those Moorings boats however, with the extreme list of reconditioning items they go through, are truly in better shape than one of the same age that was never damaged. Having bought a 48 a year ago I can only tell you „go get it - the market‘s already dry“. BTW: Are you sure they‘ve showed you the right boat? Is the HIN really ending with 414?
All boats are compromises. You need a category for how much you will have to spend to add stuff like solar etc. You said nothing about the standing rigging. Big $ spend to rerig.
Yeah we’ll have to talk more about that stuff. Just rating these boats from a baseline is one thing…for our purposes that stuff is very much a part of the equation.
Beware of the bulkheads in leopards. There are to many documented cases of bulkhead not just cracks but complete failure. If sailed gently probably be ok. Just beware.
Right now all cats are over priced and everyone is trying to get rid of them now that the prices are so high on them . In about a year the bottom of the market is going to drop out of the cat market and you won't be able to give them away .
They don't make a boat that I feel is suficiant to be honet in design. I call it cake. Have you seen a boat with broken bulk heads, and failed members that are dangerous to trust? They add weight that is heavy and weak. Just consider aluminum. It weights 166 pounds a cubic. if you pulled tention on it it would fail at 4,300,000 pounds the same weight of bamboo would fail at 35,300,000. Bamboo is light and very strong . Why put any wood in a boat that is for show? Aluminum is 30,000 psi, and bamboo is 28,000 psi and the bamboo weight weigts 20 pounds. bamboo is a grass.

Just write the cheque, worry about it later !!!
Lol…I’m pretty good at that! Doesn’t always work out well…
Beware of the bulkheads in leopards. There are to many documented cases of bulkhead not just cracks but complete failure. If sailed gently probably be ok. Just beware.
I think you’re talking about Lagoons, right? I’ve never heard of bulkhead issues in Leopards. They’re generally considered very well built.
Right now all cats are over priced and everyone is trying to get rid of them now that the prices are so high on them . In about a year the bottom of the market is going to drop out of the cat market and you won't be able to give them away .
Once you cat you won’t go back.
I have a feeling you’re right. ;-)
